Dantooine: Jedi Enclave Ruins

About a day later the ship was pulling into orbit around Dantooine.  HK-13 found Elna loading the landing sphere with supplies.

"For starters, you can hand me that camouflage netting," Elna said, pointing to the corner.  Elna glared at HK-13 as he handed her the netting.

HK-13 complied.

"I would find it beneficial if we were friends.  Is there anything I can  do to facilitate that?"

Elna's face softened at this offer of friendship.  "I'm not really mad at you," Elna explained.  "I'm really mad at my grandfather for going on these expeditions without really trying to protect himself.  And at my mother for making me go along with him so he would be protected."

"It would have made me feel better, if you had chosen something other than a concussion rifle."  Even as she said this, HK-13 could perceive a smile breaking across her face.  "Let's just say the jury's still out on you," she concluded.

OOC: Any further comments?

Dantooine: Jedi Enclave Ruins

As Elna and HK-13 finished loading the Oculus, Lor arrived.  "Are we ready to go?"

"Indeed we are," Elna replied.

Lor gave a slight smile because he could tell something had changed in Elna's attitude.

The trip down to the planet was short.  After landing, the trio gathered the supplies they could carry from the Oculus and headed off in the direction they believed the ruins to be.  Elna led the way through the plains of Dantooine, making sure to steer the group away from herds of iriaz and kath hounds.  As the sun started to set and the two moons started to rise, Elna halted the group.  "Looks like we're not going to reach the ruins today.  Let's set up camp."  Lor nodded his head in agreement.  Elna removed a mouse droid sized soft package from her pack.  She put it down on the ground, pressed a button on it and it quickly inflated itself into a field shelter.

"HK-13, would you mind standing watch during the night?" Lor asked.

"Precisely," Lor responded simply before ducking inside the field shelter.

"Good night," Elna said cheerfully and gave HK-13 a small wave as she also entered the field shelter.

The night was uneventful, with only a small herd of iriaz passing by so far away they were barely within HK-13's unaided visual range.  In what seemed like a small passage of time to HK-13, the sun started to rise and first Elna and shortly thereafter Lor emerged from the field shelter.

OOC: Any comments from HK-13?

"Report: The night was uneventful.  Only local wildlife too far away to be of concern but certainly of interest for organics, should they be interested in such things."

Elna looked at HK askance at this odd phrasing, but Lor simply nodded and said "Well done.  Thank you."  After a short breakfast for the Humans, they deflated their field shelters and Elna led them on.

After several hours of travel with Elna keeping them safe, hydrated and powered, they finally spotted some crumbling ruins in the distance, just as the sun had started on its downward trajectory.  As they drew closer, HK could make out four bases of what must have been statues at some point in the distant past.  They were now crumbled almost to dust.

After surveying the area, Lor declared.  "I'm afraid it looks like it's going to be slow going with the state of the site."

Straight through the entrance and up a crumbled set of steps, HK could see through to a courtyard with an ancient tree that looked like it was on its way to being petrified.  A hallway led off to the right and to the left.

"Where shall we start?" Lor asked.

“To the tree it is,” Lor concurred, leading the way. On their way through the corridor, HK could see that the left hallway led to an open area, possibly itself with further hallways. Down the right hallway was an elongated room. As they walked up the steps to the courtyard proper, there was a small room off to the right with a mossy lump in the middle of it. The courtyard itself had a few openings that probably used to be doors leading to other areas of the compound. To the close right was a long rectangular room with a rusted and decaying slab of metal. Far off to the left was a small closet-sized room.

“Do you really think we’ll find anything here?” Elna questioned.

“There’s only one way to find out,” was Lor’s reply. “Let’s get searching.”

OOC:  Make a Perception check.

HK-13's methodical mechanical ability, combined with Lor's meticulousness and Elna's tenacity allowed them to search the entire courtyard in less than a minute and a half. They were able to determine with certainty that there was nothing of value to be found in the courtyard.

Elna seemed utterly deflated at their fruitless search. She sat down with her legs tucked to her side. Lor comforted her: "This is how archeological digs go. We've only searched one room. Still plenty more to go."
