Bowman is your typical ranged attacker.

Rich robotics expert crippled in a car accident. Went into a deep depression and nearly killed himself. His counsellor suggested archery as a means of controlling his depression and building up his upper body strength for using his wheelchair.

Defeated a group of violent burglars in his home with his bow and for the first time felt alive again.

Created a robotic wheelchair (well if ironman can have his briefcase bowman can have his wheelchair lol )that turned into body armour, his bow and leg braces that allows him to jump and run great distances.

Here is my character sheet for Angel. Depending on the answer to my question regarding the Phase Trio, I may need to change one of his Aspects. I also still need an Aspect.

Please let me know if you see any problems with his build.

Given Name: Ńngel Raymond Quinones Castellano
Street Name: Angel                          Refresh: 1

Aspects
  High Concept: The Unbreakable Giant
  Trouble: An Angry Young Man
  Other Aspects:
    "All that's left is my grandfather."
    tbd
    Ximena, my 58' power boat/home

Skills
  Great (+4): Physique
   Good (+3): Athletics, Fight
   Fair (+2): Drive, Provoke, Will
Average (+1): Contacts, Crafts, Empathy, Rapport

Power
Unbreakable Giant: Youíre inhumanly strong and tough. As long as youíre using brute
  strength or toughness, you get a +4 to Physique rolls, a +4 to Fight rolls, and a +2 to
  any attempt to overcome an obstacle impeding your movement by smashing right through it.
  You also get Armor:4 against physical attacks like punches, stabs, gunshots, and getting
  thrown through buildings.

Power Breakdown
  * Super Toughness        * Super Strength
    --> Implacable           --> Master Super Strength
    --> Juggernaut         * Natural Weapon
                             --> Master Natural Weapon

Special Effects: Area Attack, Physical Recovery
Improved Special Effect: Shrug It Off
Drawback: Your strength and toughness are in part a result of your physical density being
  much greater than normal human flesh. You can't float and more fragile structures tend to
  crack and break under you. You are Massive.

Collateral Damage Effect: When you choose to inflict collateral damage, you can
  choose one of the following: take out a nameless NPC (or more than one, if you use Area
  Attack), inflict a moderate physical consequence on a named NPC, attack all targets in a
  zone at full strength, or ignore a physical attack entirely. This effect likely occurs
  because youíre smashing things or because the area around you gets damaged as you shrug
  the attack off.

Hello, y'all. Just a note: You can post your character sheets here or on your sheet. If anyone needs help with their character (Bowman, you'll be getting a PM in a moment) we can handle that via PM.

Because the phase trio might be a bit cumbersome via PbP, I'm thinking of having a list of Fiasco-style connections, as detailed in this Slyflourish post:

Imperfection:
Sorry to poke again, trying to finalize skills - Computer use is linked to?

Imperfection, usually in FATE, there is no one Computer Use skill. Instead you use the skill that covers what you're trying to do with a computer.

Hacking: Burglary
Programming: Crafts
Data Search: Investigate
Knowledge of the history/theory of computers: Lore

If you're using the Machine Control Power, then you use Empathy.

Venture City, page 47:
Basic Machine Control: You can control machines up to one zone away without touching them. Most machines wonít resist you at all, but something computerized will put up Fair (+2) opposition, and more complex and powerful computers will offer greater opposition; you use Empathy to overcome this opposition. You can only make a machine do something itís capable of; while you couldnít make a toaster float, for instance, you could make a car drive itself.

And I would recommend this Enhancement:

Venture City, page 47:
Built-in Wi-Fi: Your brain is able to pick up signals of all sorts. You have a permanently active Internet connection, and you can hear both sides of nearby cell phone conversations.

Re: Main OOC
I like what Angel is putting down, but simply because this is a cyberpunk game, I'd like a specialist to be able to be good at it without having to be good at several skills.

I'm thinking we should either use the Interface skill, or split crafts into Computers, Mechanics and Medicine.

Here's what the Interface skill looks like:

Extra: Interface
Permissions: Possession of an interface package (assumed if you take the skill)
Costs: Skill ranks

The Interface skill allows you interact with computers and teched-up objects in a way that most people canít. You can get inside the machineís head, talk to it like most people would chat to a friend, and fight it like youíre in a bar brawl. Of course, that means the machine can also do that stuff to you.

Overcome: Use Interface to fix a malfunctioning computer system, bypass security lockdowns and other obstacles by hacking your way through, force a piece of tech to trigger a programmed response, and keep a piece of tech from triggering a response.

Create an Advantage: Use Interface to learn about the properties of a particular piece of tech (i.e. learn its aspects), to diagnose malfunctions in a computer system, to plant fake signals or false information in a computer system, and to create disruptions.

Attack: Use Interface to break down a computer system directly.

Defend: Use Interface to defend against attacks from computer systems. Failed defense rolls will result in physical stress and consequencesóa cyber-interface means your actual, physical brain is at stake.

Power
Immortal descendant of Pyrrha, the daughter of the Titan Epimetheus & Pandora, and Zeus:
  Having been transformed into a statue for thousands of years, Atalanta struggles a
  bit with the modern world. However, her ancestry and wrestling skill gives her strong
  muscles (+2 to Physique rolls in situations requiring pure strength) and lets her heal
  rapidly (consequences immediately reduce on healing, and she cannot truly die except by
  the will of the gods), to the extent of ignoring minor cuts and scrapes (Armor:2 against
  physical damage).

Power Breakdown

Special Effects: Inflict condition, Physical Recovery
Drawback: From another time.

Collateral Damage Effect: Interception (Super Toughness)

Other Stunts
Sprinter (Athletics): She can move two zones for free in a conflict without rolling,

Re: Main OOC
Cool all around!

Iíve seen it done both sorts of ways so Iím glad I asked.    So, in terms of the interface (pun intended) between this and Machine Control, Machine Control runs off Empathy but thatís limited to machineís one zone away.  If you wanted to hack a computer system further than this (or didnít have Machine Control at all) youíd have to use Interface?

As an example, if we were approaching a secure building with security cameras; I could use Machine control to shut down the camera or have it move its field of view (MC-Empathy).  But if I wanted to go all out and have the system run on a loop Iíd have to attack the main server (more than one zone away) and that would involve a more traditional hack which would require interface?

As for Angelís ideas. Oh yes. I am looking at the built in wi-fi indeed ;).

So here is what Iím considering to this point.  Havenít actually done the calculation on how many stunts/refresh Iíve spent cause itís a lot like a wish-list atm.

Given Name: Miranda Black
Street Name: Imperfection

Aspects:
High Concept:          Rogue Augmented Hacker
Trouble:                  The Nice Men in White are Looking for Me
Other Aspects:         Mistress of the Online World
                            Always Be Upgrading (Previously Always Looking for Perfection)
                            The Right Friends in the Wrong Places

Skills   (+4) Interface
         (+3) Empathy, Investigate
         (+2) Will, Athletics, Contacts
         (+1) Fight, Notice, Provoke, Stealth

Power:                            Machine Control
Power Theme:                   Technology
Enhancements:                          Master Machine Control
                                               Built in Wi-fi
Power Synergy:                 Super-Tech (Super Agility)
Enhancements:                           Catís Landing
Drawbacks:                      HASS (Hyper-Augmentation Stress Syndrome)
Special Effects:                  Mental Recovery; Extra Action
Collateral Damage Effects:   Overload

Stunts: (Various items I am considering)

Countermeasures upon Countermeasures: You donít have to be present to provide active opposition to someone trying to overcome digital security measures you put in place or worked on.
All Your Accounts are Belong to Me: Use Interface instead of Resources to purchase items when dealing with Vendors who donít care (or know) where the cash is coming from.
Escapologist. +2 to overcome actions with Athletics when escaping from bonds.
Hardcore Parkour. +2 to overcome actions with Athletics if you are in a chase across rooftops or a similarly precarious environment.

Imperfection, is your Machine Control an innate power or the result of some tech?

Given that we're using the Interface skill, should Machine Control use that instead of Empathy? The default assumption in Venture City is that we're using the FATE Core Skills only. Adding Interface seems like it would be a better fit for Machine Control than Empathy.

It's all cybernetic augmentation hence the power theme.  It also plays into her trouble and drawback well.

I'm ok with that switch.  Honestly I don't see Imperfection as being a hugely empathetic character but that's what the power runs off.  So if it runs off Interface that would be great for me.

It is important to remember that Super Gadgeteering is an example of Power Synergy. You can justify having another 'power' as part of your Gadgeteering suite. This doesn't allow you to create powers on the fly.

You could have a Jet Pack that gives you Flight as part of your power suite. It would cost you 1 stunt and give you Basic Flight. This would be a permanent part of your power set. You could also add some Enhancements to this power.

Gadgeteering itself should allow you to take some time to Create an Advantage. You could use this to build a Jet Pack that gives you the I Can Fly Aspect for a time.

Thinking about your ability a bit more, I'm not sure she should have Machine Control. MC works on all machines, not just computers.

Here is what I would build for her power set:

Cybernetic Hacker: Your neural cybernetic enhancements allow you to pick up signals of all
  sorts. You have a permanently active Internet connection, and you can hear both sides of
  nearby cell phone conversations. As long as you are using your cybernetic wireless
  connection, you gain a +2 to Interface rolls. Your neural network has been augmented and
  you are preternaturally graceful, and gain +2 to Athletics when leaping, balancing, or
  otherwise demonstrating your agility. In addition, you have a prodigious leap: leaping up
  to a second-story window or from rooftop to rooftop across a wide alleyway is a simple
  task that, without further complication, requires no Athletics roll. If you do fall, you
  land on your feet and take no damage, regardless of the height you fall from, as long as
  you are conscious.

Power Breakdown
  * Technology Power Theme
    --> Built-in WiFi                 * Super Agility
    --> Master Cybernetic Hacker        --> Cat's Landing

Special Effects: Mental Recovery; Extra Action
Drawback: HASS (Hyper-Augmentation Stress Syndrome)

Sorry trying to sort out my character with our GM as I've never created anything for fate before it's a bit slow :(

Unfortunately because of this I'm having to be spoon fed by our GM to sort him out

Hope I'm not holding things up

Re: Main OOC
Okay.  Here is the basic framework that I am considering.
I'll expand this in greater detail but I would appreciate any suggestions for improvement or corrections if I did something wrong.
One of things that I am thinking about is that "Super-Form" doesn't seem like an adequate power description here since he doesn't really transform but I picked it because that where Shrinking appears.

Mini-Man

Aspects
High Concept:  Miniature Martial-Artist
Trouble: Out of Scale
Other
 - Smooth Operator
 - It's not the size of the man in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the man.
 - TBD

Skills
+4: Athletics
+3: Fight, Stealth
+2: Physique, Rapport, Notice
+1: Burglary, Will, Investigate, Lore

Powers:
Super-Form
- Shrinking

Super Agility
- Cat's Landing
- Uncanny Dodge

Regeneration (Basic)

Drawback: Shrunken size cannot be shut off
Collateral Damage: Hair-Trigger Reaction (from Super Agility)

Power Stunts:
TBD

Re: Main OOC
Mini-Man, given that you don't want to be able to change size, the Super-Form Theme doesn't really fit. Instead simply build a new power. Obviously rename at to something you like.

Micronian Stature: You are inhumanly small, no more than 18" tall. Along with your small
  stature, you possess remarkable agility and powers of recovery. You gain a +1 to all
  defense rolls and an additional +2 to defense rolls when dodging ranged attacks. You
  gain +2 to Athletics when leaping, balancing, or otherwise demonstrating your agility.
  In addition, you have a prodigious leap: leaping up to a second-story window or from
  rooftop to rooftop across a wide alleyway is a simple task that, without further
  complication, requires no Athletics roll. You know how to land, when you fall, you land
  on your feet and take no damage, regardless of the height you fall from, as long as you
  are conscious. Whenever one of your physical consequences begins to recover, it gets
  renamed and moved to the next lower consequence slot, if available. This clears away
  mild consequences immediately. Additionally, at the end of a scene, if you have any mild
  physical consequences - whether they are recovering or not - they get cleared away
  automatically.

Power Breakdown
  * Miniature                         * Super Agility
                                        --> Cat's Landing
  * Regeneration                        --> Uncanny Dodge

Special Effects: Mental Recovery, Physical Recovery
Drawback: Small Man, Big World
Collateral Damage: Hair-Trigger Reaction (from Super Agility)

Cost: 5 stunts

In reply to Angel (msg # 68):

Sorry on holiday and WiFi isn't great ...thanks any help would be appreciated

Basically bowman is a robotics expert who created his wheelchair to morph into his armoured costume and bow.
He should be able to run and jump above average and see in the dark.

His bow can have trick arrows if possible but not too far fetched so an area attack, an armour piercing, stun etc not the classic green arrow boxing glove arrow :)

Re: Main OOC
Bowman, most characters in Venture City only have one power, but some have two and you're one of them.

Powered Armor: On command your wheelchair transforms into a suit of powered armor. While the
  suit is active, you are preternaturally graceful, and gain +2 to Athletics when leaping,
  balancing, or otherwise demonstrating your agility. In addition, you have a prodigious
  leap: leaping up to a second-story window or from rooftop to rooftop across a wide alleyway
  is a simple task that, without further complication, requires no Athletics roll. The helmet
  includes vision enhancements that allow you to see in the dark and ignore other visual
  impediments such as glare or a blinding flash. You gain a +2 to Investigate based on visual
  clues. The suit gives you Armor:2 against any purely physical damage.

Power Breakdown
  * Super-Form Power Theme            * Super-Agility
  * Technology Power Theme            * Super-Sense (vision)
                                      * Super Toughness

Special Effects: Extra Movement, Physical Recovery
Drawback: Need to Recharge
Collateral Damage: Hair-Trigger Reaction

Cost: 4 stunts

Superhuman Archery: You are usually armed with a high tech bow with which you are
  incredibly skilled. You can fire it up to six zones away with a +2 to Shoot.
  You have a variety of specialty arrows that allow a range of special effects.

Power Breakdown
  * Energy Blast (bow)                * Technology Power Theme
    --> Master Energy Blast
    --> Long-Range Blaster

Special Effects: Area Attack, Inflict Condition
Drawback: Limited Ammunition
Collateral Damage: Rapid Fire

Cost: 3 stunts

Total Cost: 7 stunts
Remaining Refresh: 2

Re: Main OOC
Mini-Man, I would like to suggest one addition to your power.

Micronian Stature:
     You are inhumanly small, no more than 18" tall. Along with your small stature, you
 possess remarkable agility and powers of recovery. Thanks to your size, the world around
 you is full of large, easy to hit targets.
     You gain a +1 to all attack and defense rolls and an additional +2 to defense rolls
 when dodging ranged attacks that you can see coming.
     Whenever one of your physical consequences begins to recover, it gets renamed and
 moved to the next lower consequence slot, if available. This clears away mild
 consequences immediately. Additionally, at the end of a scene, if you have any mild
 physical consequences - whether they are recovering or not - they get cleared away
 automatically.
     You gain +2 to Athletics when leaping, balancing, or otherwise demonstrating your
 agility. In addition, you have a prodigious leap: leaping up to a second-story window
 or from rooftop to rooftop across a wide alleyway is a simple task that, without further
 complication, requires no Athletics roll. You know how to land, when you fall, you land
 on your feet and take no damage, regardless of the height you fall from, as long as you
 are conscious.

Power Breakdown
  * Miniature                         * Super Agility
    --> Small but Fierce                --> Cat's Landing
  * Regeneration                        --> Uncanny Dodge

Special Effects: Mental Recovery, Physical Recovery
Drawback: Small Man, Big World
Collateral Damage: Hair-Trigger Reaction (from Super Agility)

Cost: 6 stunts

Description of the Miniature "power":
Miniature
At 12" to 18" in height, you're far smaller than most humans.

Basic Miniature: You're a quarter of your normal size or less and gain a +1 to all defense rolls because you're so hard to hit.

Enhancements
Small but Fierce: The world around you is full of large, easy to hit targets. You gain +1 to all attack rolls because you're so small compared to your targets.

Drawbacks
Your small size can cause almost as many problems for you as it does for your foes. You're weight is significantly less than most and while your strength isn't reduced by your size, you have almost no leverage. It can be tough living as a Small Man, Big World.

Re: Main OOC
I apologize for my extended absence.

I would like to start on Monday, and start in media res. If you're all willing to do so, I think I only need to know one thing:

Do you prefer to begin as:

1. A team that has already worked together, but is still working the kinks out

2. A team of "contractors" brought together for a job

3. Individual heroes who find yourselves working on the same effort due to your connections to "civilians" involved.

My first choice would be an existing team with option 3 a close second. I'm not really interested in being a contractor.

If we go with an existing team, we could always use flashback scenes to show how the team formed.

I would also prefer for the characters to be in an existing team.
If not a "team", then I think that a good alternative would be for the characters to have worked with each other at some time in the past -- they could still be "contractors" hired specifically for this job but still have a familiarity with each other from previous jobs for other employers.

Re: Main OOC
Cool!

I'm just going to bump the outstanding questions I have; since I've still not actually finished my character:

You originally said:

Storyteller:

My question was:

Imperfection:

Angel had a comment on it as well:

Angel:

  * Technology Power Theme
    --> Built-in WiFi                 * Super Agility
    --> Master Cybernetic Hacker        --> Cat's Landing

Special Effects: Mental Recovery; Extra Action
Drawback: HASS (Hyper-Augmentation Stress Syndrome)

Cost: 4 stunts

But I didn't want to comment as I was still hoping to get an answer to the earlier questions; and maybe the your own thoughts on these suggestions.

As for team I'm good with anything.  Though I think i'd prefer a mix of 1/2 in the sense of less team and more "known associates." Again though, good with anything.

Re: Main OOC
In reply to Storyteller (msg # 81):

I'd prefer option 1, that we all know one-another as an existing team. Perhaps only recently formed. Option 3 would be my second choice.

With either option, we could also know one-another through FATE or Fiasco-style connections.

Re: Main OOC
Even though not everyone has chimed in, there's a clear preference for option 1. And since I'll start us in media res, we can work out the Fiasco relationships here in the OOC and they should be all set during the scene.

Imperfection, I promise I'll answer those in detail today.
