Night fell and Sal was transported to New York to make his phone call.

OOC: Actually, I wanted to make the call from anywhere but New York! The whole point of the call is to find out how dangerous New York is for Sal at the moment. I figured Sal could go to a coffee shop in the nearest village, make the call while he waits for the coffee, and then bring it back for Jitters.

Sal dials Cyrus, and waits patiently for him to pick up.

OOC: Fair enough, then you are at a late night café when you make the call.

 There were three rings and a click. "Sal? Good to hear from you. What's up?"

"Oh, you know, trying to stay out of trouble. Decided to take a vacation overseas with some friends. How's the Big Apple these days? Rebuilding going well?" Sal's manner of speech made it obvious he was calling from a public place, and might need to be circumspect about a few things, to maintain the Masquerade. The storm, however, would obviously dominate most conversations about the city for some time, Sal figured, so not bringing it up might stand out.

 Cyrus paused for a moment. "Yeah, building's going well. Got several places back up and running already. Those synths work fast. It's only been a week and some parts of the city are almost livable again.

 In other news, word spread fast about the spat between Carmilla and Victor. Milo kept everybody out of it and things are getting back to normal here too. Carmilla's underlings are too busy fighting among themselves to bother anyone else.

 So, enjoying your vacation?"

Sal replied, "You know me, eager to get back to work! Glad we can count on Milo to mitigate the fallout. I'm sure Victor's glad to have him around. Anything new for you? Sounds like chaos is the status quo for now. I'm sure you've found some good opportunities to advance in all these shakeups!"

 Cyrus laughed. "Of course. I've been promoted to KoE*. It's been a lot of paperwork but nothing I wasn't practically doing already."

OOC: *KoE stands for Keeper of Elysium and is the abbreviation used when in mixed company.

Victor replied, "Congrats! Good to see your hard work recognized! Well, I've got to get going. Time difference here is a killer! Take care, and talk to you later, Cyrus."

He checked the news on his slate while he waited for his coffee.

 "See ya!"

 He hung up and soon his coffee was brought. It took some messing with the settings to get the news out of French and into a language he could understand. The news was abuzz about a large scale explosion just off the coast of New York. Many were speculating that it was a nuclear device though news from New York revealed no radiation.

 In other news, a silver "alien" was discovered at the site of the explosion. No actual pictures were presented and news about the incident was being actively suppressed (meaning that only underground news networks were reporting on it).

OOC: Nefertiti has phone called you in her thread so you can be there too now :P

After getting off the phone with Nefertiti, Sal called Mistral to arrange transport, for himself to her haven, and, if possible, for Point Break, back to the portal in his home.

 It didn't take long for Sal to contact Mistral and get transport for himself and Point Break to his mansion just outside of New York.
