Rise of the Wyld (0.6.2g) (Mason)

Mason managed to find his stash in a destroyed ruin. It wouldn't be long before the synths got to this building too. Wherever they went, the Weaver followed, gradually replacing the Wyld spirits that had sprung up.

The cataclysm had purified the spirits of corruption wherever its waters had touched, washing them away completely, leaving only ruin and the retaking of the world by nature.

... but humans had begun to return. Some never left... and so there still remained some spirits of humanity (including the ones feeding upon their vices).

Still, there had never been a time when an area so dominated by the Weaver and Wyrm had been overun by the Wyld like this.

Still, most of the beings sharing the city with you now were not human. Most looked like humans but they were something else: Vampires, Changelings, Mages, and Synths. Of the Uratha, he was outnumbered greatly by the Dancers of the Black Spiral... so meeting any Garou here was a dangerous proposition and they were gaining ground rapidly, corrupting what had been cleansed by the cataclysm

However, there was a bit of a problem with the stash. The area was filled with mages. They had overtaken the ruin.

---------------------------------------------

 Fate

Fate found herself in a life mage den in a ruined building. They were teaching what she had sought to learn. They chose to live in the ruins because they were closer to nature. It felt more like a hippie commune than a mage enclave.

"A room full of mages great. Can't find a local I can trust as far as Uratha go. Could go all furry and nuclear option. Could just walk in like I own the place and get my stuff and walk out. Yeah that will work. Or I could go in and try to gain allies. Ok that is crazy Mason. Namespeakers not Uratha." he says to himself.

A plan is only as good as the person carrying it out. This was a time when run and gun would get him killed. Diplomacy probably wasn't gonna work. So just own it might get his stash and make allies who knows.

Before he goes all I own the place move. He does take a moment to assess the number of mages and what they are exactly doing. He doesn't care that they are there. At this point just another obstacle  to be over come.

06:47, Today: Mason rolled 3 successes using 7d10 with the World of Darkness nWoD system with a target of 8, rerolling 10s with rolls of 6,3,5,9,6,10(+9),7.  Stealth approach .

There are about a dozen Namespeakers. Most seem to be stoned out of their mind. However, one in particular is not.

OOC: I know this is a short post. I'll lengthen it or add another post later in the day.

Fate approached the mages not in a threatening manner just in a direct manner. "Who is the lead mage here please?"

A dozen drunk Namespeakers. That could be a good thing and make this easier. Could be bad that many mages. Only one way to get his stash it looks like. The sneaky approach is probably bad seeing as they are drunk might spook them and they don't take well to that. Making friends with a bunch of drunks isn't a good idea so I own the place seems best.

With that in mind Mason finds the nearest entrance and goes inside waving as he passes the one non-drunk. He heads directly to his stash and gets the total contents out before walking back to the entrance. That is the sequence assuming he doesn't get stopped clearly.

The lead mage was also stoned out of his mind but he smiled warmly (you have been training with them for most of the day at this point)

However, as she was learning from the stoners, a man who was clearly not a mage walked in and took some things out of a room, waving at the other mages (who waved back)

"Does that man waving his hands work for you?" Fate pointed out the man making his way through one of the rooms.

The leader of the life mages squinted at the newcomer and thought for a minute. "Nah, man. Looks like he's just doing his own thing. S'not our building anyway. Gotta share the wealth when you can."

Whatever he'd been smoking (you detected traces of ground pixie. It had been growing in popularity with mages since the viral video of Noah dancing the Futterwakken in the street) had boosted his magical power but has relaxed him far too much.

Mason pauses for a moment. "You aren't drunk or high why is that? And more to the point why are they?" he asks from the door to the room.

"awom... did you know that the only part of your reflection can lick is the tip of your tongue... but you can look at any object and know exactly how it will feel on your tongue without having ever felt it on your tongue." Came a random voice from a random life mage.

"They think it brings them closer to nature. I..." Fate answered simply. "don't partake and have been keeping a small space between me and the potential of a contact high to keep my wits about me. Who are you?"

"Ahhh so hippie Namespeakers....that might have been a little fun after all. Oh well. You can call me Mason. I was a private investigator prior to our little rain storm. The room back there held one of my stashes. I was merely collecting it. And you are?" he asks rather rakishly.

She waited for the mage to finish speaking his nonsense then answered nonchalantly. "My name is Fate. One of your stashes? This building used to belong to you?"

"See in my previous line of work occasionally you get a jealous husband who thinks you are playing with his wife. Reality is he is the one I'm watching. Or you get the ginger who is a little to big for his jeans. Helps to have these to lay low for a couple days. Cash, a gun unloaded of course, backup set of IDs, you know the usual. Don't imagine half of this will be useful right now, but I didn't exactly plan for the Wyld to go batshit insane and have a magical rainy day on New York so can't complain. And no I just rented a literal hole in the wall from the previous owner." he says fully expecting her to laugh.

Point is I'd at least get a laugh or six. And love is blind but we see with our heart and our soul. They call like to like."

"What do you know of the Triat? In a perfect world they exist in balance. The Wyld births ideas, the Weaver codified them, and the Wyrm destroyed them to make room for more things. With me so far?" he asks more so that he doesn't have to repeat that part. "The Wyld got mad one day and well look around you. Ever seen anything like this? Hmm....I haven't been tending the Umbra around here for months for nothing. Finally had a little beachhead before the storm. Nice little quiet area. They came to me if they needed help. I could ask small favors. You know the beginning of Nice things. Then I go up a skyscraper and watch the Wyld get mad. But not destructive nope she created something. And that is what I aim to find out then find a spot I can call mine more or less and start building a haven for the spirits again a quiet "safe" place. At least until the Spirals show and they always do. Questions?" he says to her. "No. Yes. No. No. Yes. No. Possibly. Third drawer from the right. And Bob is your Uncle." he says to the hippie in a cheery voice. Followed by "That might keep him busy. For a bit."
