Meeting a Mayor (0.1.3a)

The trip back to shore was uneventful and soon Argentus (and Sal?) were in a taxi heading to former mayor Henry Watson's office. You're not entirely sure what he does for a living now, but he's not the mayor anymore. Still, he had connections that would be useful.

The cab pulls up to the office building, but something looks off. The people coming in and leaving were wearing black, as if they had just attended a funeral...

OOC: I had asked Promethius to come with us here as he's not supposed to be dead and can be our front guy :)

Argentus turned to Promethius.  "You mind heading in and seeing what all of that is about?  It looks like they're dressed for a funeral... but that doesn't necessarily mean they're ready to meet a dead man."

OOC: And that should be fine as long its brief. 12 hours is a decent amount of time to play with. :D

Prometheus pushed aside his mind's constant nagging reminders that he had forgotten something and gave a small frown, "Those people who caused you to be... well legally dead... you dealt with that loose end, right?"

Cause a funeral would make a lot of sense if they hadn't. Tie down the missing leads and contacts who could help.

Approaching one of the people who looked the least upset, he said, "Excuse me... sorry to bother you, but did something happen?" Entering the building of a funeral that he wasn't invited to was not something he had any plan to do today.

OOC: Edited so time remains consistant.

Before Promethius stepped out, Argentus answered him. "Not yet.  That will likely be a big job after we've secured Talion's release.  Demon hunting.  Well, more likely demons hunting.  First, though, we're dealing with saving the people they are using to blackmail Talion into compliance.  I wanted to give the ex-mayor a heads-up as to what's going on: ie. that Noah, Mistral, and myself are not dead, but are not ready to go public with that quite yet because of blackmail issues.  We just want to give him time to start marshaling forces for when we're ready to go public - probably in a few days' time."

An idea struck him.  "Give me your snapchat ID.  I'll send you a picture of me outside right now if he needs some proof that you're not just a looney off the streets."

Prometheus frowned, considering the idea. He didn't tend to use small phones, when he had access to an eyepiece, and an internal link. Still he could probably make this work. The mayor probably wouldn't reject a simple eyepiece.

Probably.

Giving Argent the id, he then Approached one of the people who looked the least upset, and said, "Excuse me... sorry to bother you, but did something happen?"

One of the women stopped and stared at Promethius in shock. She quickly regains her composure enough to speak.. "A-and who might you be, exactly?

He wasn't exactly unused to that, his style was meant to catch eyes and stand out after all. Offering the women a small smile, he said, "My apologizes at my appearance, I wasn't aware anything formal was going on here today. My name is Prometheus and I represent small group of people who have fallen into a little bit of a Bureaucratic loophole. I was hoping to meet with Henry Watson to see what help he could provide." It was clear to anyone paying attention that Prometheus wasn't used to speaking in such a way, but given the circumstances a bit of extra formality was probably appropriate.

Prometheus paused and looked at the ongoing procession of people, "My Clients were hoping to talk with Mr Watson and sent me along ahead to deal with a few technicalities that such loopholes caused, before actually meeting with the former mayor.

However would I have missed the mark to say that's not a option anymore?"

The woman stared at him, then looked inside, and then back at Promethius. "What? No! No... Mr. Watson is... well, I hesitate to say 'fine', given the circumstances. It was his daughter.

It's a shame, what happened with Mr. Miller. Before he went to prison, this city used to be safe, then it was like it changed overnight. I guess that's what you get when you lose most of the police in an area."

Prometheus nodded, "I am sorry. Loosing a child is the most painful thing that can happen to a parent. I..."

He paused. Interrupting a man on the day of his daughter's funeral to ask his help in legal paperwork felt wrong.

At the same time, the timing of the daughter's death and the 'deaths' of his companions felt to co-incidental to be unrelated.

"Forgive me... do you know what happened with his daughter? Do the police have any idea?" He sighed, "I know this is an especially personal question, so feel free to tell me to leave well enough alone, but its easier to tell my clients why today is a bad time if I have a few details..."

The woman paused and looked at him for an uncomfortable minute, trying to decide whether or not to reveal that information. Finally, she waved her hand at all the graffiti. "Gangs. She got caught up in the violence that's been swallowing this city. I'm not sure I should say anything else."

Prometheus nodded, and said, "No, no, that's enough for anyone, I am sure. Thank you very much miss. If you'll excuse me, I won't take up anymore of your time."

With that done, he walked away from the gathering back to Sal and Argent, before speaking quietly, "Well the good news is he ain't dead. However given he probably wishes he is, it's gonna be a hard ask to get to see him today."

And with that, he told them both everything he had heard.
