Back on the boat (0.1.5b)

Real Noah was laying out on the deck of the boat sizzling. He had wings out, belly flat, just trying to cool down. He had even woven a mana reflective material into his scales and it had slagged just by the volume of Talion's Mana storm. He was alive and would be fine, but he was far from happy. Add in the fact there was a rotund storm on its way he was all kinds of off his center. He did have a bag full of magical rocks for his trouble though.

OOC: also, for those with spirit sight:

Spoiler text: (Highlight or hover over the text to view)
Occasionally, a spirit creature, roughly 2ft tall, slender, with claws and wings, roughly resembling a royal blue gargoyle would poof into existence before flying off into the distance.

Also, the spiritual winds are blowing chaotically, heralding the great storm that is to come.

Back on the boat (0.1.5b)

In one of the S.S. Grey's ridiculously oversized lounge areas a round, mist-limned portal opened from nothingness like an iris, and Mistral strode through.  She took a few paces forward and quickly glanced about the area, which she'd already descried in advance, but one could never be too certain.  She turned and awaited any others from their shore party who chose to step through.  When the last had emerged she dismissed the portal with an off-handed gesture, then strode up to the top with the intent to confer with Atlas.

On the way, however, she heard deep exhalations of breath rumbling through the deck and found a dragon laid out on the deck in rather poor shape.  Mistral's pale eyes shot open and she circled the large and splayed-out form, hopped over an outstretched wing to kneel by Noah's draconian head.  She laid a hand gently upon an unburnt part of his scaled face, looked into his large eyes and said, "Merde.  You've been busy, évidemment.  What can I... What do you need?  Shall I fetch Aly and Bia?"  Mistral's normally placid face wore a strange look that might be concern, and she stumbled over the unfamiliar try at offering aid.

Figuring that Noah would probably be pleased to discuss work and inventions in this state, she asked, "Are the fabrications of le auto-stabilisant frames complete?  I must affix mes Portes to these within the hour, if they are to be of use."

As Mistral attended Noah-dragon she noticed a curious spirit presence that would briefly immaterialize on the deck before flitting away out over the sea.  She arose to her feet and waited for its reappearance, then raised a hand and extended her will to summon the spirit to her and bind it.  In the sibilant whisper of the tongue of Shadow she demanded, ~Explain your presence here, spirit, and explain well.~  Her tone was firm but even, though the implied threat was self-evident.

Noah leaned his head into Mistral's touch. "No true damage that isnt on its way to be patched. I went down to visit Talion, to help his psychology by ensuring he wasnt alone. He is sitting inside a mana reactor because his magic is acting on his desire and not his will."

He sighed and set a bag down infront of Mistral. A bag with a pair of tongs to carry it. "If he casts magic to solve the problem he will most likely hit the kids too. The man cannot cast fine tuned magic. Complex, yes, but he wont risk it. That," He nudged the bag and its carry device. "Is a few of his tears he gave me. A few mana stones with ten times a small hallows production, each stone is tied to a single spell." Ten mana tied to a single spell forged when Talion wanted to crush men who would steal his kids.

"I plan to tip some darts with them if you want to throw wammy spells at some point." He smiled. He wanted to kiss her but RoboNoah was on autopilot and heading in to charge.

"The rings are in the lab. Memory metal so they expand quick and will coil back up if you use a lighter on the rim of them." He pulled his limbs in and raised up, breaking off some of the metal slag. He was sleepy but people would be showing up. He watched as Mistral did her spirit thing with joyful attention.

Back on the boat (0.1.5b)

Arriving on the boat, Argentus awaited Ralph intending to give him the semi-grand tour right away.  However, when he saw Mistral working on a spirit he held off.  He didn't engage with it but stood ready to back up her play if needed.

As he kept an eye on that situation, he called out, "Hey Jitters!  Someone's coming who you're going to want to meet.  And how's the coffee shop coming along?"

Arriving just behind his friend, stealing himself for whatever he may find, his mouth opening to start asking questions immediately, but the words never come from his mouth as Ralph sees they've arrived in the middle of something, he's not sure what, but he watches, fascinated, waiting to be introduced, or for things to come to some kind of conclusion..

The ship had changed somewhat since you left. The rear sails had been moved upward and were now two wide. The solar panels on the back had been rearranged to spell "welcome", a large industrial sized silo was now attached to the coffee shop on deck, the port and starboard sides of the ship had black strips on them that were now filled with coffee and the entire ship now spelled of sun-roasted coffee.

Grey was on the bow of the ship, riding a pony sized mecha-squirrel piloted by Jitters as they sang a song and ate coffee beans like popcorn. You had been gone for three hours....

The group sees an arc of electricity suddenly form out of nowhere, like ball lightning, and launch itself at Mistral. Fortunately, it misses on its first pass.

Real Noah had rotated his head to look at the new guy before turning back. He shook hard to get the slag off his mother of pearl scales. Both wings arched around so they could close to block for Mistral but he did not move, he wouldn't until she needed real help. Of the whole group she was the only one who really had the whole 'get out of the way' thing down like a pro.

"That is more than a little interesting. You good?"

Back on the boat (0.1.5b)

OOC:  Sorry all!  Apparently my post in 0.1.5 where I introduced Ralph never posted!

When Ralph arrived on the boat, Argentus called out.  "Hey all, this is Ralph - he co-owned the coffee shop with me before all-that-jazz happened."

He pointed around at people in turn.  "The woman wrangling the spirit there is Mistral.  The vampire with a heart, and who can walk around in the daylight, is Sal.  The retreating synth there is Fake-Noah.  The dragon there is actual Noah.  Inside the metal squirrel is Jitters - he's the caffeine spirit from our last night at the coffee house - he's turned knight and now apparently MechWarrior.  Riding on the Mech is Grey.  She made or also is the mech... and she either made or is the ship as well.  Not too clear on that."

Hey called out, "Hey!  Anyone know what the spirits are, or why Grey doesn't seem to have any effect them?"

OOC': 15:46, Today: Argentus rolled 2 successes using 7d10 with the World of Darkness nWoD system with a target of 8, rerolling 10s with rolls of 4,3,3,2,2,8,9.  Int/Occ on the spirit(s?).

Re: Back on the boat (0.1.5b)

Noah:
Noah leaned his head into Mistral's touch. "No true damage that isnt on its way to be patched. I went down to visit Talion, to help his psychology by ensuring he wasnt alone. He is sitting inside a mana reactor because his magic is acting on his desire and not his will."

Mistral answered drily, "It seems you did not receive a réception amicale.  We had best succeed tonight."

Noah:
"...That," He nudged the bag and its carry device. "Is a few of his tears he gave me. A few mana stones with ten times a small hallows production, each stone is tied to a single spell."

"I plan to tip some darts with them if you want to throw wammy spells at some point." He smiled.

Mistral took the pouch and peeked within it, though was careful not to touch.  She fastened it closed again and said, "Fascinante.  Considering the raw power involved, it would seem irresponsible to use these stones without understanding the spells infused to them.  Such énergie channeled by Talion's rage could reduce all within a city block to atomes constitutifs."  She set the bag down and caressed dragon-Noah's scaled jaw and added with an enigmatic smile, "...and you will make dart-tips of them.  Typique.  Best take care in your work with that project, mon dragon."

The magess nodded in confirmation that the memory metal rings were ready and arose to attend to them, but that was when the curious spirit caught her attention.  She summoned it to her and it reacted poorly, as might be expected.  She sensed the lightning arc in the instant before it struck and bent out of the way and then hissed a stern command in the tongue of shadow, ~Calm yourself.  I've no desire to destroy you, but I will if I must.  I ask again, what is your purpose here?~

In a resolute stance Mistral faced down the spirit unseen by most, and this was what Ralph saw when Argentus introduced them.  Without turning her eyes from the spirit she said simply with a steady voice despite the confrontation, "Enchantée."

Sal winced at Argentus' description of him, but politely addressed the newcomer, "Sal Fujita. Pleasure to meet you. If Argentus trusts you enough to blurt out my secrets," he glared at Argentus, "then I shall be glad to have you at my side in battle." He reached out to shake Ralph's hand.

As Argentus describes and names everyone, he makes note, putting it all into his memory, smiling at what happened with Jitters, glad the spirit has flourished when everything around has gone to such crap..

"The pleasure is mine" he responds to the one called Mistral, impressed by her ability to handle so much at once, a multi-tasker's multi-tasker..

He smiles, Taking the offered hand.."It's a trust that goes both ways..and what I know stays with me..tho, I do have some questions for another time" Meeting sal making his mind wander to his friend for a moment before he brings it back to the here and now...wondering what might have happened to him.

Argentus winced at Sal's words.  "Right, so everyone's on the same foot: I may have forgotten to mention something.  Ralph is Garou. So he could almost certainly hear and smell what was up with you, Sal.  The info I actually gave him was all positive: not using the werewolf slur, and letting him know that we know what you are and that you're one of the good guys."

He spotted Promethius, who he had also missed when he got distracted by mecha-squirrel.  "Oh, and Promethius - a mage like Mistral and I.  Don't know him too well yet, but he's almost as much of a tech-head as Noah.  And Charlotte - dog.  But you probably could tell that on your own."

He looks from Argentus back to Sal, smiling..

"Unlike most of my kind, I don't condemn someone just because of what they are..He says you're cool, you're cool until proven otherwise.."

Ralph pauses for a moment..then goes on..

"You're not the first of your kind I've met..I just don't let it get around..and nowadays, with all that's happening..and has happened..all the losses..something just don't seem as important anymore"

He glances over when another person is pointed out, making another mental note..then laughs, the sound almost odd after all that they've been thru..

"I thought I smelled dog..besides myself" making joke at his own expense..

Sal said, gently, "I appreciate it. I have lived long enough to see that the old prejudices are worse than useless." His voice then took on a firm tone, showing more intensity than anyone in his presence had seen from him so far,"But there is one thing that must be made clear. Rare is the vampire who would not kill to be able to walk in the sun. No matter how friendly one may seem, no matter what else you can trust them with, none may find out about my ability, let alone its source." The gentleness returned to his voice, "For this reason, I must be very careful walking outside during the day, lest agents of my kind recognize me. Once the secret is known, my life, and by extension, yours', will be in constant danger until I give it up, and besides the utter chaos that would cause in my community, I would personally prefer not to lose this gift."

Since sal is being so open and honest, Ralph feels compelled to respond in kind..

"I understand what you're saying more than you know..I have a very close friend that is one of your kind, so I kind of have an insight into the way you guys think..him I would trust, but even then I would never betray you, that's not my style, it's your gift, with all that comes with it, good and bad..as far as I'm concerned, you're just another night dweller..and nowadays, that's not that rare anymore"
