Politial and Technological Climate

This thread will contain political events that have occurred around New York (where the game takes place) and the rest of the world.

The current president is Rebublican Marie Lauren. She has implemented a few laws that most New Yorkers dislike.

Self-Driving cars have entered mass production under Synthos Inc. (the same company that produces Androids) though there are few out on the open street.

Fully operational hovercars exist though, due to their price tag, are seldom seen recreationally.

Synthetic Humans (Androids) have passed the Turing Test and are advanced enough to fool most humans. Several companies have tried to steal/sur for the patents but have failed. Synthos Inc. is currently the only supplier of Androids.

Advanced Synthetic prosthetics are in full production, allowing humans with missing limbs not only full mobility but full sensation. All prosthetics are android compatible and vice versa due to an external synthetic spine that humans can wear.

Smartphone technology has merged with watches and ear pieces with Alexa and Siri integration.

In the wake of the storm

A storm of cataclysmic proportions has rocked the city, leaving a blanket of unnatural vegetation in the aftermath. Most of the normal humans who can have fled the city leaving it in the unusual state wherein supernaturals almost match normal humans in numbers.

The fruit growing from the vines overlaying the city have proven able to empower all forms of supernatural creatures, including vampires, without ill effect. Conflicts are now breaking out regularly between the different supernatural groups over the acquisition of this precious resource.

Vampires: Prince Victor sent out a message to all members of the Camarilla and to any Anarchs who would listen foretelling the storm. Those who heeded his warning came out unscathed but those who did not were washed away by the storm. The Sabbat utterly destroyed and the Anarchs severely weakened, the Camarilla's stranglehold on the city has been solidified.

Changelings: In the wake of the storm, the changelings have emerged from their shelter in the hedge to a world of new possibilities. With everything new again, they have begun to open shops and businesses on corners once dominated by abandoned buildings. The upper echelon of the changelings are now in heavy conflict with the lower echelons of vampiric society, a clash that is new and unusual for both sides.

Werewolves: While the Garou did not lose a tremendous number of their kind, they did lose almost all of their fighting strength as the Garou killed in the storm were all warriors. The black spiral dancers fled the coming storm where the Garou faced it and now the Garou are in full retreat as the Black Spiral Dancers are aggressively taking Garou cairns.

Mages: All eyes are on New York in the wake of the storm. Mages have witnesses schools of leviathans, beings only rumored to exist in the depths of the Twilight. Spirits surge in numbers never before seen, and the storm itself has been confirmed to be the largest mana storm ever recorded. Tass lay scattered out in the open for anyone inclined to pick up and rumors of the emergence of the Hieromagus have drawn the attention of mages worldwide.

Spirits: Spirits have emerged in new York in numbers unheard of. Agents of the Weaver and Wyld struggle in emerging conflict with agents of the Wyrm completely scrubbed clean. The very air of New York now hums with a spiritual intensity bordering on supernal. The social structures of the spirit world are present but are now on rocky footing as they struggle to contain and restrain the abundant emergence of so many new spirits.

Synthetics: In the wake of the synthetic purge, the remaining synthetics still remain hidden in the shelters their owners have made for them as they cling to any modicum of safety the storm has provided them. Their plight echoing the underground railroad from so long ago.

Humans: The current mayor, found impaled on a tree, has been investigated and found guilty of conspiring with terrorists and criminals to undermine the stability of the city. With the police rendered ineffective and their synthetic helpers all but destroyed, crime runs rampant and unchecked in the ruins of the city as officials scramble to set things right.
