Re: OOC

Nope, it's the reverse here. You get XP for picking a theme song :P

I forget how much it was though, do you remember AF?

…. WELL... I'm a dummy. Seems we didn't give it out at the start like I thought we did. Go ahead and add 5 XP if you got a theme song up.

Re: OOC

So Hans, I'm a bit unclear as to what you're saying in you character description. I believe you're trying to say Hans is very attractive, is that correct? And if so, it might be a good idea to mention that you have Striking Looks (and whether the 2 or 4 point version) in your description so folks can react appropriately.

Re: OOC

It depends on how you read it.

There are 2 options for Striking Looks, 2 dots or 4 dots. So as not to confuse anyone, I generally say Striking Looks 2 for the 2-dot version, and Striking Looks 4 for the 4-dot version.

Re: OOC

Striking Looks (• or ••)
Effect: Your character is stunning, alarming, commanding,
repulsive, threatening, charming, or otherwise worthy
of attention. Determine how your character looks and how
people react to that. For one dot, your character gets a +1 bonus
on any Social rolls that would be influenced by his looks.
For two dots, the benefit increases to +2. Depending on the
particulars, this might influence Expression, Intimidation,
Persuasion, Subterfuge, or other rolls.

Re: OOC

From 1st Edition World of Darkness pg. 117:

Striking Looks (•• or ••••)
Effect: Your character is exceptionally attractive by
modern standards; heads turn and conversations stop when
she enters a room.
For two dots, your character gets a +1 modifier to all
Presence or Manipulation rolls when she attempts to use
her looks to entertain, persuade, distract or deceive others.
For four dots, your characterÕs looks are angelic; she
gets a +2 modifier.
Drawback: The more attractive your character is, the
harder it is for her to avoid notice in public. Witnesses to
any criminal acts are much more likely to remember your
characterÕs appearance, and easily recognize her in a lineup.
Your character is also likely to receive a great degree of
unwanted attention in social situations.

Ouch. You'll need to recheck all of your numbers then too, if you used that book for XP costs. Since XP costs are VERY different between the 2 editions. I know, because I initially built Chance in 2nd Edition, and he is much less powerful once I converted him to 1st.

In reply to Chance (msg # 983):

Yes in fact I am saying Hans is attractive as heck. And he has Striking Looks 4. Had to tone down a bit of what I wanted because XP! And his description is still a work in progress. So cut me a midge of slack on it.

Re: OOC

Yeah, no taxis... most of the infrastructure in New York is down at the moment.

Talked with AF and it is also likely I have been understating the military presence that would be in the city after a disaster like this.

Also... since it may get confusing, I would like to differentiate 2 terms since it is very important to do so.

Synthetic Blood- Blood for synths. It is found in hardware shops, evaporates in the air, does not spoil in temperature, and deals lethal damage to vampires that consume it.

Synthetic Vitae- Artificial blood for humans. Made cheaply and able to be acquired from blood banks sympathetic to the Kindred.

Are there any better terms that might be used?

Re: OOC

Oh, I thought there just weren't taxis near the docks.

It seems unlikely that mortals would call synthetic vitae by that name. They'd probably  call it "synthetic blood", and call the synthetic blood "oil" of some sort, if they still see synths as machines.
