Michael looked at the investigator. “You know a hunter. A person who hunts stuff. Usually it’s deer and other wild game. A lot of hunters are also gun enthusiasts thus all the guns and ammo. You wanna tell us exactly who tied you up and where the people who were living here are now?”

  "That wasn't a deer. More like the things that go bump in the night. As to who kidnapped me, beat me, and was about to torture me I had a bag over my head or was so concussed that my memory is pretty foggy. Now get the guy in front of me and get him to talk and I might be able to figure out it was him." he is checking his injuries as he speaks. They seem pretty severe for a beating and if it had continued he likely would have been beaten to death. "And I was locked in this room so where they are now is a good question. I have no idea of course, but hey I am willing to come up with an answer. But it is likely as not wrong."

"Alex," Chance said with a smile in Nefertiti's direction in answer to her question. "And yeah, I suppose you saved me, or at least kept me from getting my clothes all messed up. What the hell were those things, and you?" he asked nodding in Jay's direction. "I mean I saw them earlier, like that," he said pointing at them now in their human forms.

He shook his head, "I don't know if there was anyone else here, but there was a priest named Tammy, honestly not the brightest bulb in the drawer, that actually pissed these guys off when we were heading here." He stopped, then shook his head.

"Okay, let me back up. I literally got into town about an hour or so ago. Came in on the bus for some sightseeing and BAM, I see this biblical shit with all the crazy vines all over the place. So I'm walking around, trying to figure out what the hell happened to the city I mean, DAMN. So I see this priest guy named Tammy and ask him what the hell happened. He didn't know, seemed to make some shit up about hell and the apocalypse, but it didn't really sound like he knew what was going on. So he says he'll bring me back to his church where his people might have some answers. Oh, and I might add this priest also felt the need to threaten me by showing me his gun. It was a little odd, but hey, I've heard New York is a dangerous place, so didn't think much about it."

He takes a breath and casually leans on the wall, "So anyway, on our way here, we run into these three gangbangers, that apparently also turn into slavering deathbeasts, no offense," he said with a glance at Jay, "and this idiot priest tries to posture up against them." He shakes his head, "Probably why they came here, to teach him a lesson. Anyway, when we get here, there's this other priest named Gregory. Older guy, seemed nice enough, and smarter than the Tammy guy. Says something about looking over a bunch of ancient texts but can't find anything relevant. Anyway, Gregory and Tammy ran back into the back room when they showed up. Two of them followed after the priests, I heard a gun shot, and then you guys showed up. My saviors," he said with a smile and wink at Nefertiti.

Alex would he of happened to shown you these ancient texts? she asked.

Michael listened to both men and cut the one that still tied up free. “Well you’re both welcomed to come with us. There’s safety in numbers. As you can see, we don’t judge people for not being 100% human as long as they’re upfront about it. So if you’re not, might as well say so now if you’re coming with us. I would also like to see these ancient texts in case they might cause more harm than good.”

Fixing Chance with a steady gaze, Jay spoke simply. "I have sworn oaths not to reveal the secrets of my people to the masses. Suffice it to say I am a protector of sorts." Once all were free he took up position outside the front entrance of the church. He was happy to allow the others to discuss what to do with ancient texts and the like, he was more interested in his spirit totem returning with information about the lost child.

 Looking around once more (after Chance mentioned texts) revealed several books in what had likely been Gregory's office. They seemed pretty old and they were a repository of occult history. Monster bestiaries written by previous hunters,  notes on occult workings and how to deal with them, ect.

 However, there wasn't much to go on regarding the current state of the city.

 While they were looking through the texts, Jay's spirit returned unseen by all but him and reported that there was no lost child that he could find or coerce any local spirits into locating. It had likely been a hoax.

Michael read over some of the texts and scooped them up to take with him. “You find anything Jay?”

Michael would you leave the books for now, seeing that some of us might not be able to enter into the Haven and I too would like to read them and see if there is anything I can discover.  Or leave them in Jay's Domain. she asked as she was holding one of the texts.

Michael looked at Nefertiti and considered some things. “I will need to look through them first to make sure there isn’t information that should remain private or he censored. Let’s just say I have read some of these types of texts before and my superiors would be very upset with me if I were to let certain information fall into the wrong hands. It should be ok, but I need to check first.”Michael quickly scans through the texts to make sure there isn’t passages that talk about the Vigil, other hunter cells, compacts, or Conspiracies.

  "We have saying where I come from you show me your I'll show you mine. You want full disclosure that's fine. But it cuts both ways." he seems serious enough, but seeing as you just met a little seriousness isn't out of the question. "If you can believe it I have seen far worse than this apocalypse as it is being called. I have been in town long enough to start a certain level of contacts with the underworld of the city. We call ourselves Changelings and we deal with the Fae. So if you want more than that you might want to start telling me what exactly you are.

Michael nodded. “Fair enough. I’m a hunter, but not all hunters are like Tammy and George that you met. We have different groups that operate independently of each other. We generally hunt anything that isn’t human and know how to hit them where it hurts. Obviously, I’m making exceptions for this current situation. My goal is to protect those humans still left instead of actively hunting. As you can see by the company I keep, as long as you don’t eat or hurt humans you’re fine in my book. I’ve got a place called Haven set up down the road that’s safe for humans but off limits for non-humans. Although we can try setting up a place nearby for those that aren’t so we can all protect each other.”

She looked to Hans "I'm a Lector Priestess.  One who is well verse in the Arcane.

Greeting his spirit companion upon his return, Jay sank down to his haunches again to whisper to the spectral beast and hear his responses. "Red~Muzzle~Broken~Tooth, my pack's totem, can find no signs of a missing child, its seems to have been a ruse." The information imparted he concentrated for a moment, forcing his awareness to bridge across the Gauntlet so he could assess both Shadow and Real realms at once to gauge the spirit situation surrounding the church.

Unless your saying you moved quickly to gather all throughout the room before anyone had a chance.

Nefertiti looked to Michael with a warming smile "Michael these texts are from a Hunter gang that is not connected to yours, right?  Or is all Hunters connected.

I do understand what your saying but you must also understand that there may be things in these texts about our kind and we don't want to have it out.  I would suggest we all be allowed to peruse through these and see what is written.

Michael seemed to have an internal struggle for a moment before sighing and nodding to her. “Ok fine. BUT if there is any reference to another Hunter or their location, it stays between us. While I may not know them personally, I wouldn’t want any sort of research I do lead things to come after me.”He puts down the texts for others to read if they wish.

 The texts revealed things about the different types of monsters and their weaknesses. Some of it dealt with vampires, some with werewolves, and some with many other things. Much of it was heavily skewed. Mages were written as witches using evil powers of demons, for example.

 However, there was nothing that revealed the origin of this disaster.

After reading as much as she could she handed them over to Michael and waited to see if anyone else wanted to read them.  If not then he was able to take to his Haven for safety and she would be able to get them later if she needed them.

"There is some interesting things in here.  They need to be place in a safe place and if you would allow us to retrieve them for later use then I have no problem with you keeping them in the Haven. she added.

Then she looked around the place again.

"This is a strange time.  I believe my Awakening was for a purpose.

  "In typical fashion the biggest weakness my kind has is common knowledge. So there is that. Now I don't technically eat human or even non technically. I feed off of strong emotions. My particular food is desire. It doesn't have to be sex. It can be a comfy armchair if the feeling is of a similar nature." he says knowing he might just might be signing his own death warrant.

Nefertiti raised an eyebrow at Hans comment but she wasn't going to allow his need for Desire to cause him any harm.  As long as he didn't harm the people of the land he would be good in her eyes.

"Is there any way of getting a map of these areas?  I too would like to find a safe place to make my own home and to study more on my skills.
