GM Time Fracture (Noah/Fate) (0.4.3c)

Phantom Noah held up his fingers, "This is time magic, you are likely very skilled but I cannot stress enough. Do not push or stress yourself. The worst thing with prime magic is we make a dead spot. In the case of time magic, the worst that can happen is you split your timeline and there become two originals of you. In the end, reality eats you both."

"If you feel stressed, disoriented, or even out of phase... Yell time out and I will ground out the spell."

"Understood." Fate said before taking an even deeper breath. Here goes, she thought. Fate put her hands out to the sides of her and focused.

GM Time Fracture (Noah/Fate) (0.4.3c)

 There was a folding of temporal space and then, suddenly, there were two of her on the island, one next to the other. Each knew what the other was thinking and each could act independently of one another.

GM Time Fracture (Noah/Fate) (0.4.3c)

Fate looked at herself in awe for a moment, then they both looked at Noah. "It worked? It seems to. Anything out of the ordinary? Everything seem stable?" She was babbling a bit, but for this it was understandable.

GM Time Fracture (Noah/Fate) (0.4.3c)

When Fate popped back into real-time the island had changed. Everything looked weather-worn and even the air looked fresher without the constant smog of new york. Noah himself changed little other than the salt and pepper in his hair and clothing that looked far too futuristic. He leaned a little more on the mana star cane he always had. "A thousand years, every year I came hoping you would return."

He stood there a moment before smiling wide letting the grand phantasm shimmer a bit. "Hard to say, there is nothing ordinary about this. Most mages don't dabble this deep in time magic. The threads look stable and I don't see any arcane divergence. So long as you both can write down the same number when I ask you to write down the first you should also be in sync."

"Getting any double vision? Upset guts?"

The Fates gave Noah a wry smile, then answered him, "No I don't seem to." they said in unison, then stopped a moment and looked at each other in surprise. "I guess I shouldn't be too surprised." They again spoke in unison. "We are still the same person after all." The Fates smiled at each other for a moment, then turned their attention back on Noah, "Because," they both started to speak again, but then looked at one another. The new Fate gave the old Fate the go ahead gesture. "I don't have control over my other self so I am not experiencing any of the symptoms you described."

Phantom Noah smiled, "Good, you are not getting continuance overlap."

He took in a long breath and puffed it out. "It may seem like I am overhyping this but you are one of the few people to experience this. In Mistral's case, she is one person in many places at one time. In my case, it is robots and illusions all controlled by a duplicated mind. For Talion it is like a hub leading back to one mind so far as I can tell."

"You're the only being I know that is the same person twice at once outside of clones. I know you are a brilliant person but do keep your future self safe. It does provide you a buffer and some safety but if future Fate gets her hand cut off, it's just a matter of time till past Fate's hand will pop off too."

"To that, we need to set up a medical bed in your room. If you get a feed that future Fate is about to meet a poor fate... I hope it never happens... you can dive into the medical bed before the worst happens. Though before that we need to set up future fate with an imbued item to cancel your time spell. A lifeline in the face of assured doom."

"Im yammering again arnt I?"

"Important yammering." The Fates said in unison, then the old looked at the new once again. "I think we can both agree that only one of us needs to be talking." The original Fate said to the new one. The other Fate nodded her agreement and gestured for the old Fate to speak again. "If we could figure out a way for me not to go poof after I end the spell that'd be great. I would like to get to a point where I can use my double to go places in my stead if there might be danger. Can I call her back at anytime? Or do we have to be in the same room?"
The other Fate spoke just then, "It kind of sucks that I'm the one who gets to potentially get hurt, but I understand why it has to be you who's safe." She spoke to the original Fate.
"I know. There must be a way I, we," The old Fate gestured to the two of them (the Fates). "could selectively poof during a fight so that we can't be hurt, then we could strike then poof again. It's an idea. Noah, what do you think? Something we could potentially work on for the future?"
"Surely there must be a way." The newer Fate agreed.

Noah shook his head, "Two of you attacking the same person at once is a solid no-go. Mistral is a lot smarter than I am on the subject but there was a hitch." OOC: There is a hard-line rule that prevents players from getting more than their normal amount of attacks. Fighting styles have been rewritten to avoid it. "You could, at absolute best, trade-off one after the other. Or more likely have two entirely different gear loadouts and swap out as needed. But that is going to take some work."

"You just got the ability to double up, so let's not over-stress your system just yet. But if you are looking for a way to swap out we could ritual up a switch. It will have to be space magic but it could be a tag out thing. Be mindful that past Fate getting hurt will have the wounds show up immediately on future fate which if you cut it too close to the line... So if we get the swap set up you'll need to play it safe until the Fate swapped out can get into a medical bed."

"If you want to go the ultimate safty route we set future Fate up with a Dispell charm. If she gets her ass handed to her she pulls the rip cord and it breaks the spell. When that happens you both disappear until the time equal to the duration of the spell has passed. In that case you're gone but not even a mage with your blood can get you."

"I really want to set you up with some equipment. You're the only person who can exist outside of time so far as I have ever met. Where and when do you go? Are there things outside of time when you are? With enough research you may be able to even survive a reality breaking event by just not being there."

OOC: To make sure you understand the function of the spell, this spell summons you from the second the spell ends. Let's see if I can get a working diagram.

|-----|-----|
C.....E.....P

C= Casting
E= End of casting
P= End of Poof

 Also, it's much easier to visualize the points between (C), (E), and (P) as places (rather than times) for the purpose of this example.

When you cast the spell (C), you pull your future self from (E) for the duration between (C) and (E) and, because your future self coexisted with your present self for the duration between (C) and (E), your future self vanishes the moment your present self catches up (since (C) to (E) and (E) to (P) are happening simultaneously). You cease to exist for the duration of (E) to (P) because you were too busy existing at (C) to (E).

"You misunderstand me. I do not wish to risk, myself, past Fate in a fight, instead what I was suggesting was being able to attack once, then poof so I couldn't be harmed, then reappear to attack again (OOC: in the next round of course). I'm not interested in trying to increase my attack speed as much as I am in trying to find a way to stay even safer while still being able to contribute to a fight. Original Fate, me would stay somewhere safe while the newer Fate would go in my stead. My ability to stay intact is my main concern otherwise I am useless to our goal. All the more reason why I am interested in finding out things like where I end up after the poof if I am in two different locations or if both of my selves need to be in the same room to poof." Newer Fate stayed quiet this time watching the exchange.

"Not sure that could be done. If future Fate poofs out, even using a normal time spell to move forward a few moments in time, both Fates vanish and your clone finishes and the original spell ends. We will have to do a bit of research but we may get something like that with space magic or fate magic."

"Not a problem. Just an idea to test eventually. For now I think I can answer one of my own questions." The Original Fate looks to the new one who then nods and walks out of the room. The newer Fate walks to the room farthest from the original Fate and then closes her eyes. The Fate still in the room with Noah smiles at him and says, "See you soon." Then she too closes her eyes and the two Fates poof from the two rooms.

Phantom Noah nodded, "It is my opinion we need to set you up with some tac hud glasses with a multi-spectrum camera. Earbud and mic hooked in so you can talk to one another. And a small camel bag so you can't fall out of range."

"A ring that allows the future fate to cancel the spell at will. Along with a few other 'fuck everything' gadgets."

"Do you have a wish list?"

"Not really, but everything you are saying does sound nice. The important thing is that we are able to communicate to each other. Though now that I think about it is there some way that one Fate could heal the other from a distance through our connection?"

OOC: I get that there is no multi attack and that's fine with me, but I was wondering if it'd be possible for the original to heal the newer one through their connection and if so could the original Fate do that on her own turn or would it have to be the same turn and that's all either of them would be able to do?

"To a degree yes. Installing a medical bed in your room is the first step. Next is to set you up with a desk that has various medicines and time delay stimulants. We set you up with a timer and you use the ones that match that time release. It's not easy but you could heal yourself at great distances."
