Not one to waste good food, Harry shrugged, retrieved, and ate the rest as well.

Re: As The Northern Snow Blew
Merdof laughed "But good bread crumbs. Glad they do not bother you much. But it sounds like someone should deal with these thugs." Merdof walked to the window looking out into the street his back to the gnome "Which merchant's do they seem to bother the most?" Merdof schemed in his head, maybe he could get the merchant's to pay them for some protection and dealing with these thugs and gain some some extra pay from the watch. A sly smile crept across his lips as he looked out.

Re: As The Northern Snow Blew
Bindo was grumbling to himself about the nerve of that Dwarf. He looked at the shop keeper. "Sir, can you believe the nerve of that Dwarf? Now looking at me. Do I look like I am a beggar? I must admit it smelt amazing. How are thing going with you today good sir?"

"Mostly the ones with gold, fancy tailors, silversmiths, the usual lot but to be honest, they'll roll just about anyone if they feel so inclined.  This used to be a really nice place too."

"Ha! Yes indeed but I believe he was simply being friendly.  We get types from all over the known world here, each with their own customs and ways.  Here, help yourself to one from the tray, I promise I won't throw it at you."

He pauses briefly, his beaming smile turning slightly less bright at the questioning...

"To be honest, this has been my busiest day in awhile.  I survive mostly on the few remaining customers with outstanding orders...taverns, inns, things like that."

"What about the city guard? What are they doing about these thugs and their ilk destroying your lively hood. With a bakery this good, You should be busier than this each day." Merdof remarked as he turned around and looked at the gnome

Merdof looked over to the dwarf "Interesting. Sounds like these thugs might be after you too. Perhaps if the city guard can't handle this problem I can look into it. Sounds like I should talk to these silversmiths see if they got some coin they are willing to toss towards the problem."

"I might be interested in purchasing your services to keep my business safe, You can find me in a week or two after I open up up the street. Let me know the cost of the services as long as they are worth it. The guard is limited in what they can do for you. Stop in and visit me when I get set up."

"Yes, as the good dwarf stated, the guard do what they can but they are stretched thin all over the city.  Not to mention the corrupt ones..."

Merdof shook his head at the mention of corrupt guards "Well I'll speak with these silversmiths, see if I can locate these thugs and deal with em. And then I'll seek out you sir in a week or two." Merdoff finished off his sentence looking to the dwarf.

Merdof takes a couple steps towards the dwarf grasping the dwarfs hand in a firm shake "Merdof Kask."

"Well Met." Turning towards the Gnome "Thank you once again for this fine food and tea." Merdof will pull a gold coin and leave it on the table. "I haven't had a chance to rent a room in town, recommend any particular place?"

"Oh why thank you sir.  It's always good to hear ones' work being praised.  Yes, yes, of course, several places within the area, depending on your finances of course.  I would recommend personally the Flower Garden Inn.  It's just down the block and has some of the most beautiful flower work I've ever seen."

Re: As The Northern Snow Blew
"Not much for flowers, but I'm sure some maidens visit it regularly. Thank you again" Merdoff responds before he heads out the door. Making note of what other shops in the area as he walks out of the bakery, perhaps he needed to make his interest more readily known to draw some interest towards him.

Re: As The Northern Snow Blew
Bindo kept his eyes and ears open making small talk to the merchants he encountered. He asked how business was and if there were any issues, if he were to try and open his own business. He asked if he should worry about cut purses and such, as well as how the local authorities treated the business here. He brought up the poor man killed here and asked if it was because of him being strong armed or worse. He would ask these questions of all he encountered. The whole time keeping a watch on the other two and for any signs of people taking an interest in him.

Re: As The Northern Snow Blew
Sorry there Bindo...forgot about your post...

The area businesses, from what you can gather, seem to operate as normal, with the usual ups and downs that come and go with cities.  It would seem that as of late, a new gang had moved into the area.  This in itself was not unusual but you gather that they were much more aggressive than any other groups previous.  As for the victim, the only consensus seemed to be that he wouldn't pay up, but the rumor mill ran in all directions from cult sacrifice to assassins.

Re: As The Northern Snow Blew
Bindo thanked those he talked to and followed the other 2 keeping his distance, but still shadowing them. He had gleamed that this was a strong arm group running the street keeping anyone and everyone in line, by bullying and murder if need be. They were going to be a pain to deal with, but it made the rewards, so much sweeter.

Bindo made a point to stop and actually look around letting anyone there know he was looking for an eye on him. Go ahead here is your chance dirt balls. Let's have some fun. He deftly slide a small dagger down into his hand just in case.

(guess I'll seek out some silversmiths or something and see if I can find more information on the thugs and this murder beyond assassins or possible thugs)

Re: As The Northern Snow Blew
Alright, we'll cut this one short and sweet.  While somewhat rarer than the other business types, you do manage to find at least one other silversmith within the area.  As for intelligence gathering on the Park District...

quote:
So-named for the infamous Park of Pleasure–an overgrown, unkempt locale that serves as a center for assignation and illegal activities. It enjoys a reputation as “neutral ground” for underworld meetings, while somehow still enjoying its namesake reputation as being a perfect meeting place for lovers, both illicit and otherwise. The Park district draws so much illicit attention because it is otherwise home to all of the guildhouses in town, including the Jeweler’s Guild, the Carpenter’s guild, the Tailor’s guild with its illustrious history and rituals, the Wainwrights and the granaries–if it helps make the city go, it’s here
