The non existant tavern. (OOC)

This is the mandatory OOC thread. The other thread has outlived its purpose.

Now remember the current year is 569 CY. Hommlet is way smaller than in the module and a lot of things aren't there yet.

As the name says. There is no inn in the village yet. There is the Barn with red letters and the two camping sites. In case it wasn't clear, the other camp has the Veluna flag.

Where do you guys go?

In reply to Grimbold (msg # 18):

Cube, 4 equal sides, paramertized value can be one multiplied or factored out by 4 or 16 depending on the sides being 3 dimensional or not (I think 16.)

Pass 2 parameters then use them for a. all four sides b.second parameter could be area/inside space of cube to make it 3 dimensional.  pass Side in x 4 x 4 x area = value/size?  array, hhmm they usually are flat with a variable length though a hashtag can have 2 values in it A&B or 2 parameters with a related to b like a = LA and b = Los Angles  , might work.  but i ramble on - good luck.

Ok, I'm mostly back. I still have a week to go before being truly free, but I can be available almost everyday from now up to August.

Let's get this thing started for real...

BTW I would like to ask how much are you tied into overall canon. Greyhawk has a lot of named NPCs, specially in later times. So I want to ask. Are you ok if I openly ignore later supplements beyond the original one?(Yes or No, ans Why?)

Re: The non existant tavern. (OOC)

So in my game I am mixing a bunch of cannon from different editions. I think I'm using NPCs from a 4th Edition supplement, and I've referenced things from three different editions of ToEE. So Cannon to me is whatever. The basics sure, but little things, naw. We need to be surprised at somethings. None of us are Specialist Diviners so its not like we can expect something to happen that we as players know is gonna happen. Just surprise us.

It's your world, Boss, I'm just living in it. :)

Other than knowing the basics of the setting (Iuz is bad, Circle of Eight is good, the Scarlet Brotherhood is up to no good in the south, Greyhawk has a huge dungeon, and the human migrations after the Suel-Bakluish wars, etc), I'm not very versed in the meta-plot ... I'm not even sure I would notice if you swapped something.

My interesting tidbit...

I got a new copy of the Annotated Hobbit* for Christmas** and started to read it and found I have been using the wrong plural for Dwarf.  I always wrote dwarves like Tolkien did in the Hobbit.   Tolkien admitted that he had made up the word Dwarves as the plural even though the dictionary said the plural is dwarfs.  He actually preferred dwarrows as the old English version.

*If you have never read the annotated Hobbit I highly recommend it.  There is so much insight to Tolkien and why he wrote things.

** A dog we had ate my 1st edition Annotated Hobbit years ago.

Re: The non existant tavern. (OOC)

Ok, a bit of context and refreshment. And context for Beverly's sake.

The group was originally in the village. There, an angry mob formed seeking to storm a fortress in the marshes. That is the mob you saw, they are on the way to the fortress. The cave is a safe out-of-the-way spot. But the mob itself is moving to the fortress not to the cave.

The party followed a couple of cloaked men that was in the village and looked worried because the mob formed, one of them wanted to bail completely and was killed by the other. The party followed him to the cave entrance -which had armed guards-. The cloaked man entered the cave, and now a group of them are approaching the gates you all are in front of.

Nope looks lie there is anther keg to roll out the Barrel and lend me your ear.

am not sure what happened to our DM.  Unfortunately he did not give control to any of us to continue the story.

I'll hang on a bit longer.  But if anyone is interested in joining another campaign I am running one,  I have a lot of players but it is built for multiple groups if I get enough to offshoot.   Only offering it since this one may have run dry and we all need a place to roll the dice :)

Re: The non existant tavern. (OOC)

In reply to Beverley Harrow (msg # 173):

It is called - Sons and Daughters of Fortune (2E d & d).

2nd edition for the most part.  no 3, 4 or 5.  I will take pieces out of there for good reason.  It is my wish to make everyone enjoy the game and build a character.

I think you can just take your present characters and move then/create them in this world.

let me try to send you guys invites but you can request to join too.

Let me know what you think.  A lot has changed but the thyme is still slavers and you trying to make a name for yourself.

The more or open campaign I can add you two is an off shoot trying to help a town deal with humanoids and yes a slaver operation.  I would say this is your home town area to help out you intro.

If or when you all join I'll make sure you have the correct starting stuff for characters.

Here is a link - maybe it wil get you to the campaign.

link to another game

Oh how funny - glad you are in my game and enjoying it plus not left out of gaming from lurking here.

I would not worry too much, yet - um well maybe.  You took a beating from the meanest of them and the dice did not like you.   Obviously these are smart Orcs so as the battle progresses we shall see.

If it is just Raphim that joins I am sure I can fit him in your group now if Raphim wants.

Now back to Lurking  :)

Hey no worries, please keep in contact either through this campaign or for note mine.   No rush to when you would like to join.  I always have room for a new player.

Yup, work has been hurting my gaming life too.  Busy is good but I like to get some game time too.

We shall keep in touch no matter with hopes maybe the GM will come back  :)

In reply to DM (msg # 182):

Fear not, we all try to keep the game alive, sometimes it is too much to bear alone.  Stay in the gaming world and I hope you enjoy playing best you can.

Sadly, loosing a game is not the best thing to happen but loosing players and/or DM's is worse.  I hope we all game again somewhere, sometime.

Till we play again, Cheers.
