Travellers' Aid Society (OOCs)

Just a couple of things...

Did you check for whether your character could swim?

Campaign Skills Package choices, but that'll have to wait until we get everybody else up to speed.

Connections: also need to wait for everybody else to finish generating their character.

Probably some kind of history, but that shouldn't be put here in the OOC, just on your character sheet.

Travellers' Aid Society (OOCs)

You really should have read over the Character Generation thread first!

     c. House Rule--Special Skill: Swimming.
If you know your homeworld's hydrographic rating, roll 2d6-2; if it's less than or equal to your the hydro %, roll 1d-1 for Ranks in Swimming
If you don't know your homeworld's hydrographic rating, roll 1d-3 for you Rank in swimming.

Also, did you select background skills? It's helpful if you indicate which ones are your Background Skills, though. ((Never mind; got it.))

Travellers' Aid Society (OOCs)

I've just done my first term.
I hope I'm doing it right (I'm new to traveller ;) ).

I failed Uni and got drafted into the explorers :). I will continue  tomorrow.

Theodore:
Sounds good to me, In my first term I spend several years jumping from world to world in my scout ship. Is that anything you can work with?

Travellers' Aid Society (OOCs)

I could have met you in my capacity in the Imperial Navy. Very much looking forward to this! ;-) I'm going to hold off on buying equipment until we get going or I know what I need.

GM, is a pension annual or monthly? I got a retirement of 12,000 credits, Captain, IN retired.

Welcome aboard! Contacts or connections from Ingrid perhaps? Teddy was in the Empire in the Spinward Marches. We were enemies I believe in the Fifth Frontier War? What year is it GM?

Travellers' Aid Society (OOCs)

In reply to Theodore McFarlane (msg # 15):

Sure, Sounds good.
How about you met me in my second term as an explorer on one of the unclaimed worlds of the Foreven subsector where I was on a planet being attack and severely injured by the native wildlife.

Character Generation is completed.
It is a bit different than I had expected, I'm a medic with both science (xenology) and computer (sensors) as strong secondaries.

Now to figure out why I left a perfectly good career as a field researcher to join you guys....

Oh, and if anyone can link with a field researcher making a big discovery in the field of Xenology or getting a prize for that discovery, I'm all ears.

Travellers' Aid Society (OOCs)

As near as I can tell, Pirates doesn't actually give a date for when this could take place, though Mongoose seems to have used the default of 1105.

After doing a bit of research on the Traveller timeline, though, I've decided to set events in 1112. This is enough time for things to have settled down after the 5th Frontier War yet not enough time for anyone to have rebuilt their forces to the point where they could seriously deal with pirates.

Travellers' Aid Society (OOCs)

Aaron's and Theodore's characters are done, so you two can start posting if you want in the Stop Me If You've Heard This One Before thread.

I'll give it till Sunday before kicking off the full game. Hopefully, everyone else will have their characters done by then. I'm expecting another player to join, so that will give us 6 characters, which is just enough, so I won't need to recruit any more.

Sounds good, I'll probably make my first post tomorrow morning, I have to prepare and run a EotE session tonight.

I haven't bought my equipment yet, that is done as a group right?

Also a general question; in the core book Electronics (Remote Ops) is described as remote controlling drones, robots and missiles. However I only see a direct reference to the skill in probes and mining/repair droids. Is this a skill worth having for a pirate crew, or would sensors be a better investment?

I was holding off on equipment until I know what I need to buy.

Remote Ops or Sensors, your choice.

Welcome Syr and Dieros, you can post here if you have any questions or need to make connections to someone in the party so that we're a group more or less to start. At least knowing of someone common or knowing of each other.

Re: Travellers' Aid Society (OOCs)

Just starting now - but I can answer one of the earlier questions: pensions are paid annually.

Who do we have so far? An ex-naval captain and a member of the scouts? (Did they go beyond the scouts in their career or was that all of it?) Anyone else known yet?
