Aaron Lancaster:
With a shrug Aaron responds to Viridian, "I don't have a good idea, but it's reasonable." With that Aaron follows Theodore out of the ATV, and moves over to the following jeep. "Can one of you guys help me with the scouting", he asks the occupants, turning to Varga he quips, "You know how last time we tried this went.", and winks.
When Aaron walks up to the jeep, Varca is still sitting in the driver's seat, with the door closed. Varca's helmeted head occasionally makes tiny movements, as if he might be talking, but no sound is coming from the helmet's tiny speaker.
But when Aaron speaks to Varca and Rejji, Varca's helmet does turn towards Aaron--faceplate opaqued--and gives him a silent, acknowledging nod.
Aaron Lancaster:
Standing outside, he looks about in the direction to the compound and tries to get to a location with the best oversight. With that he settles down and activates the drone. "Come little guy, don't fail on me", the small man mutters as he connects to the device with his wristcom.
"Oh, Burning Cities, Aaron! Are you still trying to control that drone with your wrist-chrono?" Varca says, as he gets out of the jeep, reaches into the back seat to grab his staff, and swing it up and over his shoulder--slapping it into/onto the magnetic holster on his back,
"How many times did I tell you and tell you, those years ago, that you trust your miniature tech-toys far too much. You need a controller for that drone that has some heft! Something you can yank on and repeatedly jam on the controllers--something that can take some stress!"
Varca steps over, beside Aaron and Zhouth--who's looking over Aaron's shoulder, now. Varca also looks over Aaron's shoulder--then leans in closer to the wristcom on Aaron's raised arm.
"Aaron--I have visual enhancement with this helmet, and I still can't see crap on that tiny monitor!"
Still leaning over Aaron's arm, Varca turns his helmeted head to look up at Aaron,
"The comm-unit inside the Kay-seven-ninety-three All-Terrain Roller..." Varca straightens up and points at the ATV,
"...should be able to interface with the drone, you know. Assuming the comm-unit still works. Why don't you control it from in there--that way we can all watch the data on bigger displays? You might even be able to use the Roller's gear to control the drone, too."
Before Aaron could answer Varca, Aaron responded to some question of Zhouth's that Varca had missed.
Aaron Lancaster:
"It involved suddenly a lot of small arms fire as a group of raiders were alerted to our presence.", Aaron says sheepishly, painfully aware of the irony, "But you are most welcome to help me out".
"Yeah, frelling Tobeon Tribe! Those primitive hillbillies came at us for checking out that radiation pit as if it actually had some kind of value!" Varca nods as he confirms the story--then he puts a comradely gloved hand on Aaron's shoulder and leans his helmeted head in closer to Aaron, lowering the volume of the tiny speaker.
"Turns out it was, buddy." Varca says at low volume,
that plasma blast out in the middle of nowhere turned out to be a strike on the doorway of a hidden shuttle hangar. Couple months later, me and the Star Guard Scouts broke in and recovered a couple hundred million worth in Old Drinax-made shuttle parts."
Varca stands back up, and his voice returns to normal volume,
"The Op was classified--that's why I couldn't tell you, back then. Sorry, Scholar."
Theodore McFarlane:
"Well Varca, Reggie, about ready to liberate the boy?" Theodore says with a grin, "We are working well together! Now, get the boy, then get paid. Then make plans to move on."
Varca turns to look over at Theo,
"I...really have no response to that. I really don't. But, do you really think we should engage the opposition, before we've got the Recon data, Imperial?"
