Spugonior's Spellbook

As the wagon makes its way along the north road, The rain lightly falls, the morning breeze and chilled air from the north blows south. The North road has seen its fare share of use, large wagon ruts in the road make the trip bumpy yet bearable. As the wagon nears the spot on the map where Spugnoir said the ambush happened, you catch the scent of sulfur in the air, and the smell of burnt charred wood. You can see the remains of a cart or small wagon up ahead in the middle of the road, a broken unburnt wheel lies next to the charred remains of the cart, and a few weapons are haphazardly strewn about. A cracked charred barrel stands upright next to the cart. The charred area of the ground near the road also looks to be scorchmarks from some sort of explosion. Even from this vantage you can see a visible trail of footprints of small humanoids leading from the edge of the road off into the forest towards Deklo Grove.

Those with the Alertness Proficiency will notice that this looks to be a prime ambush area, with how the surrounding trees and rocks are positioned.

Hollen peers out at the road ahead. He looks back to his companions. "This is the area where the wizard was ambushed." he says.

Althiƶf is on the cart, right behind the horse, on the left side.  If he had to roll the large cast back a bit to make room and then chock the cask again, he would.

He's got his waterskin out, pretending it's full of wine.  He acted inebriated and sung an old drinking song out loudly to alert anyone nearby in the forest as to their location.  When finished, he started it again, and again, and again...

(OOC: I you'd like to hear it to music:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzYof5GjhQ8 )

A long time ago, way back in history,
when all there was to drink was nothin but cups of tea.
Along came a man by the name of Charlie Mops,
and he invented a wonderful drink and he made it out of hops.

He must have been an admiral a sultan or a king,
and to his praises we shall always sing.
Look what he has done for us he's filled us up with cheer!
Lord bless Charlie Mops, the man who invented beer beer beer
tiddly beer beer beer.

The Drunken Rat, the Akam Drum, the Trowlas Pub as well
one thing you can be sure of, its Charlie's beer they sell
so all ye lads a lasses at eleven O'clock ye stop
for five short seconds, remember Charlie Mops 1 2 3 4 5

He must have been an admiral a sultan or a king,
and to his praises we shall always sing.
Look what he has done for us he's filled us up with cheer!

A barrel of malt, a bushel of hops, you stir it around with a stick,
the kind of lubrication to make your engine tick.
40 pints of wallop a day will keep away the quacks.
Its only eight pence hapenny and one and six in tax, 1 2 3 4 5

Virius took in the sights of the wrecked wagon, the scorch marks and debris that littered the area.  And then there was the smell.  Was that sulfur?  Something wasn't adding up.

"What in the nine hells?" The young mage's eyes narrowed as he reviewed the chaotic aftermath of the ambush.

He dismounted the wagon and began to examine the scene more thoroughly.

Yaotl whispers to those next to her in the canvas "Would these goblins leave plunder out in the open like this still? These things do not sing of the truth."

As Virius leaves the wagon and starts investigating the scene of the ambush, although he can't make out if any spells were used, he can tell that the scorch mark seems to have been created from a broken flask, its contents likely a concoction of alchemist fire, that exploded. Other than a few broken weapons, an axe head with a broken handle, and a rusted sword, not much is in the debris that you can make out. There is no hiding the trail that is leading towards Deklo Grove though.
