○ Trader's Barn

This large wooden building has many windows, which are all shuttered. Outside the door, as shield and lantarn are suspended from chains, the shield is painted to show a sword and a cheese wheel. You can see the lights on through the crack under the door. As you approach the door opens and out steps an older lady with a bundle of goods under her arm. A man holds the door open for her. He notices you and nods as he welcomes you inside. "Greetings Traveler, you in search of some goods?" he asks. "Well you've come to the right place. Look around and if you see anything let me know." he says. "Oh names Rannos, just hollar if you need anything."

Virtually all sorts of salable goods are offered here. Clothing and Packs, Footware, gloves, and belts, hand tools, even lighting gear like lantarns and tinderboxes. You see a row of Food and herbs, and another wall with different ropes and chains and other dungeonering gear hanging from hooks. Near the back is a row of weapons, all matter of Polearms and a rack of sheilds. A few bows hang on the wall and quivers of arrows. A few suits of armor stand in the corners of the large building. Over near the back entrance the goods turn to those of handling animals, Tack and Harness, and small carts. Another door leads from this area, likely the owners quarters.

Immediately, the dwarf was struck by the sheer selection of available goods in such a small village.  He browsed a bit until he came to the area for clothing.  Althiöf looked for appropriate clothing of quality, as well as a couple pair of boots that would fit him.

You find a good assortment of all sorts of clothing, breeches, pantaloons, shirts, even some different hats, and undergarments. Most of the colors are earth tones, browns, greens, tans, and some blacks.

[ All Clothing from the Player's Handbook & Arms & Equipment Guide are here, all are 90% the listed price in those books. ]

The dwarf comes up to the proprietor with a bundle of clothes and places it upon a counter or table.  "My good man, Rannos, you have an impressive selection of goods available for such a small community.  It's hard to imagine that enough adventurers come by this village for such a large selection.  Tell me, are your best customers those two building the keep?"

"On another note, I am here for the funeral of a friend, of which you may have heard.  I need a set of dark clothes, and thought I should get another set as extra.  I have a friend I am meeting in Hommlet, who should be here in a day, two at the outside.  Might it be possible for you to hold these clothes to the side for two days, until my additional funds arrive?  Normally, I would not ask such a thing, but with you being the only trader I have seen in town, I'd hate to lose the opportunity to obtain good clothes that would fit my stature."

Rannos looks to the dwarf. "Ah yeah it was Rufus and Burne that made sure that the shop was as impressive as it looks, they are not the customers, they are the suppliers. Ever since we had the issue with the Temple years ago, adventurers from all over come to Hommlet to check the place out. As for the clothes, that is fine, I have a good assortment for all sizes, dwarf sizes shouldn't be a problem. Dark Clothes, I think we have some around here." he says as he goes and rummages through some of the piles. "Ah yes, here be go." he brings out a nice black shirt and pants that tie up the side. "They should fit ya." he says. "I can hold them, that's not an issue, I understand having to wait till gold comes in." he adds.

"I see..."

"I met some new folk in town at the Inn today.  They want to go after some goblins tomorrow, and asked me to go along, but I'm not normally an adventuring type.  If they brought back any weapons, armor, or other items like I see in your store, would you be interested in making any purchases?  I can pass the information along to them."

Rannos looks around as if saying that he has way to much as is. "It really depends on the items found, most goblin stuff like armor and such is gonna be worthless because of the state its been in. Anything metal has a price, the local smith can smelt down swords and other metal items. Gemstones, and art are of course something I'd be interesting in, weapons made from wood it would depend on the state of the item." he says.

"Okay, I'll pass it along.  Thanks, Rannos."

"Oh, by the way, I'm Althiöf.  Catch you in a day or two."

Upon leaving the Trader, the dwarf heads up the side road to the right that follows the river, and stops at the building at the end.  When he gets there, he knocks politely.

Squinting from the daylight and looking into the building, "Rannos, is that you?  I've come for those clothes you set aside for me yesterday."

"I might be interested in a few other things as well."

After the lady passed him, the dwarf stepped into the building.
