Re: ▶ OOC Conversations

@Korkas, I would tell you its all clear with Hollen, but I wanted other people to post.

But your Alertness skill would tell you that they are out investigating, and you can hear them talking about the goblins and the trail.

Remember this is a good time to use skills, and Proficiency's, to gain more information about things.

In reply to Dungeon Master (msg # 226):

Yep that was my I'm moving to Move Silently though I didn't make any rolls. I can roll if you want. None of my profs, aside from Alertness may apply.

And not sure if there would be enough cover to get a hide in shadows.

Re: ▶ OOC Conversations

For Combat do you want us to describe what we are going to be doing when we roll Init (I didn't in my post. I just described why my Init was so high).

Also as a note if need be feel free to roll for me to keep things moving along if I'm not around.

Re: ▶ OOC Conversations

That's weird I didn't post anything new. We are waiting on Althiof, and since its combat I don't mind waiting around to see his actions. Combat is where some concepts really shine so I will give everyone time to post up what they are doing.

Re: ▶ OOC Conversations

^^ Do you check RPOL between different devices often?  Phone, then computer then phone again?

I think if you don't log off every session — and then check the site from a different device — the new device won't have the same 'count' of threads reviewed, and you'll see a lot of lightning bolts for stuff you have already reviewed on the other device.

Base Movement Rates
Race Rate
Human 12
Dwarf 6
Elf 12
Half-elf 12
Gnome 6
Halfling 6

Movement happens in 10' Increments, meaning that a Dwarf can move 60' during his turn. A Human can move 120'. You can Move half of your movement and still attack.

Re: ▶ OOC Conversations

Dungeon Master:
if someone has a better suggestion to how we should do this let me know.

I'm good with rolling init each round.

I've found that waiting to post in init order, though, can slow things down.  Maybe we can post the init roll, announce intentions and then add the required rolls all in one post?

Then, after your players have all posted — regardless of the order in which they posted — you get to sort it all out and summarize the round.  There will be plenty of cases where some DM common sense and/or handwavium will have to get applied (player wanted to attack Goblin #1, but Goblin #1 had fallen by that point of the round, etc), but it will certainly cut down on the waiting on others.

I don't feel super strongly about the above, but at the very least, guys should announce intentions during the init roll, particularly casters (throwing myself under the bus here).  Otherwise ... I'll never lose a spell because I'll never choose to cast if my init sucks.

@DM, can we parry?  (PHB, pg 100)

If Virius can parry he will draw his dagger and do so this round.

Re: ▶ OOC Conversations

Yes,

Parrying (Optional Rule)

During a one-minute combat round, each character is assumed to block many attempted attacks and see many of his own attacks blocked. In normal combat, characters parry all the time--there's no need to single out each parry.

When a character deliberately chooses not to parry (a wizard casting a spell, for instance), his chance of being hit increases. Thus, choosing to parry, in and of itself, is not a separate option under the AD&D game rules.

At the same time, the assumption is that characters in combat are constantly exposing themselves to some risk--trying to get a clear view of a target or looking for the opening to make an attack. There are times, however, when this is not the case. Sometimes, the only thing a character wants to do is avoid being hit.

In order to make himself harder to hit, a character can parry--forfeit all actions for the round--he can't attack, move, or cast spells. This frees the character to concentrate solely on defense. At this point, all characters but warriors gain an AC bonus equal to half their level. A 6th-level wizard would have a +3 bonus to his AC (lowering his AC by 3). A warrior gets a bonus equal to half his level plus one. A 6th-level fighter would gain a +4 AC bonus.
Note that the benefit is not a perfect all-around defense, and it's not effective against rear or missile attacks. It applies only to those characters attacking the defender with frontal melee attacks. This optional defense has no effect against magical attacks, so it wouldn't do anything to protect a character from the force of a lightning bolt or fireball, for example.

Re: ▶ OOC Conversations

In reply to Virius Tesh (msg # 239):

Yes I Believe this will be fastest.

As an example I would state. I'm attacking the Goblin in F10 with my daggers. And if my first attack kills it I will hit the gobo in F11 before moving forward at half my moment towards the next target (the Warg).

15:12, Today: Korkas Stonedelver rolled 19,5 using d20+1,d4+4 with rolls of 18,1.  Attack Off Hand.

15:12, Today: Korkas Stonedelver rolled 6,7 using d20+3,d4+4 with rolls of 3,3.  Attack Prime Hand.

15:08, Today: Korkas Stonedelver rolled 3 using 1d10+2 with rolls of 1.  Init Round 2.
