Re: ▶ OOC Conversations

For those following the Unarmed Fight, I am using the Complete Fighters Guide, for Punching and Wrestling, Korkas scored a 19 for his first attack, which equals a Wild Swing, which does 0 damage extra (It does do STR damage) and has a 1% chance of Knockout. The Half-Orc tried to strike back but missed when he rolled a measly 8 total. Which was not enough to get through the Armor Class of the Dwarf. So he missed. But on the Chart the Punch was an Uppercut.

The nice thing is that we might be able to do both activities at the same time.

I did miss it, thanks for the heads up. I posted and I guess my brain told me it was back to your turn, but I was just responding to what happened.

Re: ▶ OOC Conversations

Korkas you are rolling +1 to your attack, why are you not rolling +2, You are a Dwarf, you get +1 to Hit vs Orcs, Half-Orcs, Goblins, & Hobgoblins. In addition to your 18(35) STR of +1, you should be doing +2 to your attacks.

Because I forgot about it. Might have meant a win for me too if one of my earlier attacks would have hit or the extra damage.

Your last shot should put me down as I have 10 Hps.

Yeah looking at it, I would have done an extra 5-7 damage. Maybe a bit more if one of my misses was only 1 off. You live and learn

Ah yeah, I see. I was looking at HP and Temp HP wrong. But I see how it got ya. Knocked out, If a character reaches 0 hit points due to punching attacks (or any combination of punching and normal attacks), he immediately falls unconscious.

Honestly I didn't remember about the +1 towards Half-Orcs till a few minutes ago. I'll try and remember things like that next time and let you know, or if I see something not being used I'll ask.

Re: ▶ OOC Conversations

I have removed Harald from the game due to inactivity, For the time being his character will be NPCed. Don't be afraid, I understand Cersei and Kossoth, the two of them have told me what is happening so that is fine. I have added two others to the game to hopefully get some more activity. I know that the pace of this game is quick. I should said that up front. I know some players are not used to games that have 20 posts one night, and wake up the next morning with 100 new posts. It happens. But the nature of this game and the way I have it setup, if someone, for example like Althiof wants to go off and explore the town, he can. I am not going to advance the time until everyone is around and comfortable with it. Because once we get into an adventure, i.e. The Stolen Spellbook, then the game will slow down, because its not "open" anymore and we will need to wait and see what our companions are doing.

Having it set in Hommlet and doing it this way though, allows me to easily have people come and go, until we get a good group that all fits nicely together. I am also not opposed to having two groups doing there own thing. If one group has slower activity than the other.

I just know that when games slow down, they die. I'm sorry in advance if you signed on and don't think that you can continue, just let me know now. No hard feelings, and I totally understand.

Re: ▶ OOC Conversations

Personally, I usually don't post as much as I have been in this game, but since it accidentally turned into a one-man village adventure, I tried to get through it to get back to the party.

Once we're all together as a team, I have no problem pacing myself to be more in line with the majority.

I don't think it's a problem because so far it's really just been side threads and solo threads.  I followed along with the fist fight.  Didn't feel left out one bit.  Even though my PC was present in the scene ... it was really sort of a solo thread for Korkas.

Once we all get sucked into an encounter though, it would definitely be weird if I missed one afternoon and five rounds of combat occurred between lunch and dinner.  I'll be good about keeping up ... but I often have chunks of time in my line of work where internet no worky.

I agree, tempo management is key.  Stagnation is death in PbP land.

Re: ▶ OOC Conversations

I don't like to toot my own horn but I feel like I set this game up pretty good and organically brought the characters together other than just tossing them all into the mix and assuming that knew each other. Using the funeral that's something that brought everybody together was a trick that I learned just recently and how to start your role playing game article also I'm using voice to talk on my phone so this might be sort of weird. I feel like the inclusion of the funeral was a good idea to bring the group together instead of all having known each other beforehand and having little money to to your name and having really bad equipment and throwing you all together with no Rhyme or Reason the funeral really helped bring the group together at to solidify them all with a purpose and setting the funeral a week from now makes it that time that you can get in there and talk to the NPCs so you can learn a little bit about the town and feel comfortable with what you're doing and what you're helping I mean your adventures what stops you from going to the next city are going to do this are going to do that I'm glad that y'all really like the game. I've said that this isn't a Temple of Elemental Evil game. And I stick to that. But the players will have the knowledge to make that a priority of they want. I've been dropping clues in dialog since the beginning. I also try and keep the NPC thread up to date which things the characters learn along the way. Funny enough I'm taking aspects of the ToEE video game and using them. Along with three different versions and editions of Hommlet and the region around. 2E, 3E and even 4E stuff that has been written about Hommlet.

Re: ▶ OOC Conversations

How big a backstory do I need, I've got Gamers Block and she is 1st Level so well besides studying and such there isn't much to work with. I do have her plan to know a good wizard of High Level who could teleport her to the area. Her home city is very far away. I was thinking she was an orphan who the dead man took in then arranged for her education at her temple and grand library years ago and they stayed in touch by letters when she could arrange it. There her backstory I have.

How about "Born as one of twins, the other her handsome brother, to a wealthy house, Cersei was power-mad but then some damn dragon knocked over a keep on her head..."

Wait, that sounds way too familiar, someone's probably used that one before.

Yah, I like the way things came together, nice job! I was posting primarily though, to apologize for yet another delay. Got called into work last night. Was busy! Will try again to get caught up next couple days and AFK Sunday afternoon through at least Tuesday afternoon, perhaps Wednesday.

Good game, don't let me slow it down!

Re: ▶ OOC Conversations

So, you are level 1, so I am not expecting much when it comes to a background. Of course you do have to figure out how you've gotten to the area. Are you still planing on going with a Flan for your Human Subrace? Also where is she from, I could research the area and see who she might be connected to that would have brought her to this region.
