▶ OOC Conversations

Alright, six players have been added to the game. Welcome! Everyone can start going over what they are going to play, I would like to get a running tally so we can see what we are going to have. Remember to go roll your dice, we are using Method VI which may be different from what you are used too. If you have any questions please ask, don't just guess or assume something. If you want to PM me and ask that is fine too. Please use the Text Sheet that I have provided. You may add more entries to it depending on your character, but this will allow me to quickly look over sheets when I need to and know where things are.

Welcome!

▶ OOC Conversations

Alright folks!, I'm completely setup and ready to get started, now its just up to you to get your characters in order. As you can see, you have a reason to be in Hommlet. Make sure to read over link to a message in this game It gives some details to why you are here. I can't wait to see what interesting ideas you come up with. Remember that Kits are allowed that are not Setting Specific and that can work with the current setup. Some Kits wont be acceptable. You are not required to take a kit either, but a lot of them do give more bonuses than you'd normally get, so you'd be doing yourself a disservice not picking one up. You start with max gold and hitpoints based on your class so you don't have to roll those. Some Kits change your starting gold so make sure you note that, if you do take a kit that does. I will be using reaction adjustments, so keep that in mind. If characters want to know one another before hand, that is fine too. Since I am leaving how you know Elkiar for you to decide, nothing stops you and another player from teaming up and saying that Elkiar met both of you at the same time. I also do not mind if characters want to be siblings, that adds a nice dynamic to characters and roleplaying. So keep all this in mind when you are thinking about your character.

Again if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

You should read the walls of text, But if you haven't yet, but plan too, but want to get things rolling. You should be getting your ability stats in order. We are using Method VI, which means that all of your abilities start at 8 (and can not be lower than 8, which is good!) And you get to roll Eight D6, and put those dice into your abilities. You can put multiple dice into a ability, but the highest you can raise it is 18, Your Racial bonus can make it higher than 18 if that is the case. But the dice have to equal 18 in order to use them, so when you roll your 8 D6 and you get a 5, 6, 3, 4, 2, 5, 3, 2. You can add the 6 & 4 to one of your abilities to bring it to a 18. This means that you will be suffering somewhere else. If you want to put the 2, 2, 3, 3, into a ability you can do that too, But you will sacrifice points elsewhere. Using this method allows for players to adjust their abilities and not get stuck with very low scores like a 3 - 6, You are gonna be heroes one day!, so you should have some competency across the board. But it also gives you the chance to get those hard to reach classes, like Bard, Paladin, and Ranger. I know when I roll up a character and am stuck playing a Fighter or Rogue, when I had envisioned a awesome Ranger, it sucks. So I get it! You should be able to get all the class requirements using Method VI. Some kits might still be out of range but those are rare.

Greetings all. I'm looking at either a Dwarven Fighter/Thief (Wayfinder) or an Elven Mage/Thief (Spellfincher). Just depends on what we get players wise. I can be talked into a Dwarven Fighter/Cleric.

I am assuming we are going by the PHB when it comes to weapon spec making it single class fighter only, correct?

Hey gang, glad to be coming aboard!  I'm leaning toward Suloise Mage.

@Dungeon Master, I just want to make sure I'm grokking spell points correctly.

2 pts / level and then also bonus points at 2 pts / level until you have used your bonus pool?

The bonus pool is calculated as follows:

Example:  Mage with 14 Int & 14 Wis.  Add them together, divide by four.  [14 + 14 = 28.  28/4 = 7]
Results in a bonus pool of 7 spell points, but I only get access to the bonus points at a rate of 2 / level?

Level   SP
lvl 1 =  4 [Add 2 + bonus 2]
lvl 2 =  8 [Add 2 + bonus 2]
lvl 3 = 12 [Add 2 + bonus 2]
lvl 4 = 15 [Add 2 + bonus 1] (Only 1 left to allocate.  Started with 7, and allocated the first 6 on levels 1, 2, & 3)
lvl 5 = 17 [Add 2]

(and then add 2 for each level thereafter?)

Re: ▶ OOC Conversations

Some really nice compiled, easy to read charts with information. I really like the Weapons and Nonweapon Proficiencies Lists, they have compiled a nice selection from a bunch of sources.

In reply to Dungeon Master (msg # 9):

Forgive me if I missed it in your Rules, but are you using Demi-Human level limits? If so, any adjustment to go beyond level limits?

Re: ▶ OOC Conversations

So, Level Limits for Demi-Humans kinda gets a bad rep. Because it encourages players to play Human so they can have unlimited levels in any class. I think the level limits is a nice addition for Demi-Humans who multiclass, but not for Demi-Humans that focus on a single class. So I'm tempted to allow Unlimited progression in levels if you are not multiclassing, but if you are, then the level limits apply.

Re: ▶ OOC Conversations

I do believe that I will be a Human, Suliose Fighter.

I'm thinking along the lines of the desert nomads of the Bright Desert, fighting style similar to the poor bastard with a crushed skull in GoT Oberyn Martell, using a long spear as his primary weapon of choice.

That sound like it works boss?  Just need a good Suliose sounding name.

Okay I have decided on Korkas Stonedelver, a Mountain Dwarf Ghetto Fighter (Fighter/Thief). PC sheet should be done other than some background/fluff type stuff.
