○ Potter's Cottage

"I'd  like to get six made, three sets of two each."

"For the first pair, I'd like the general design around the side to be dressed stone blocks, like a castle wall.  The forefront art should be a symbol I'll show you."

"For the second pair, make it and landscape of this village, at a time of year when the fields are green."

"For the third pair, is it conceivable to make a scene of the battle of Emridy Meadows?"

"On the bottom, I'd like an inscription to read Hommlet, and for you to leave your mark as the artists."

"Do you have any moist clay? I can show you the symbol for the first pair."

"How long might this take you?  My plans are to be in Hommlet for a week or so.  I would like you to take your time to make them the best you can."

Jarvis listens to the detailed descriptions from the dwarf and retrieves some damp clay that has been wrapped in paper. "Sounds like you know exactly what you want, it shouldn't take longer than a week, but we do require half payment up front, so we can start, full payment is paid on completion." he says. "Its likely that we will work on them all at the same time, what size steins did you have in mind?" he goes over to a table that has a few blanks which show the sizes. "We have three different sizes, tall, normal, and small." he says. https://www.brewerygems.com/im...0Tivoli%20steins.jpg

"The symbol is a great hammer crossed by a double-bladed dwarven waraxe.  The weapons should be blue on a field of red."

"A medium size should work well, as I have to travel with them."

Jarvis nods. "Doesn't sound too hard." he looks over to his wife and she nods in agreement. "When did you want me to start work on these?" he asks.

"It is late today, so I would hope tomorrow, or as soon as you are available."

"I'm not sure what price you are proposing yet.  I have some funds on me, and a friend is coming with more in a day or two."

Jarvis does a few calculations in his head and writes down a few things on a piece of paper. "Normally It depends on any extra materials uses. The metal bits, did you want them any specific material, I can do silver, gold, steel. My wife is talented at buffing the steel to a mirror like shine. The Stein its self in clay will are fifteen silver each. Once you add in the artistic reliefs and the metal bits the price goes up." he says.

"There is more to pottery than I realized."

"What about some silver, and some gold, to add to the decorative value.  For six steins, how much would that be?"

"I'm sure that's a fair price."

"I only have six gold pieces on me at the moment, but you won't be starting today anyway.  I have a friend coming in tomorrow or the next day.  If you can't wait that long, I can try getting a loan from Rannos, if I let him hold onto a possession or two until my friend gets in town for the funeral."

Jarvis looks to his wife, and then back to the dwarf. "We can start with the six gold, that is fine." he says. "You can pay the rest when you pick them up in about a week." he adds.

"You are most generous, goodman Jarvis."

"Do you have a stein that is of the same size I can borrow?  I'm thinking of having a chest made that can hold each stein separately in compartments.  A borrowed stein would allow proper measurements on the compartments.  It can be completely undecorated."

Jarvis looks around the workshop and then walks over to an area where a bunch of failed attempts have been stacked. He rummages through some of them and finds a stein that was very incomplete, it has a small carving on the side of a starburst but no paint, the handle and the core of the stein is intact but there is a large crack along the side. He walks back over to the Dwarf and hands him the failed piece. "Here ya go, this should do, its the same size as the ones you've commissioned." he says.

"Thank you very kindly.  You are very kind folk."

"It truly is a pleasure doing business with you."

"Since you were retiring from work for the evening, I will not impose upon your time any longer.  Thank you, again."

Once on the road, the dwarf checked to see how much sunlight was left and how truly late in the day it was.

Night had already fallen about an hour ago. Businesses were closing up their doors, and shutters were being closed. It was nearing seven in the evening, an hour after sunset.

Althiof makes his way back to the Potter's Cottage. The small section out front is open and the Potter's wife is setting up things on the tables. Jarvis looks to be inside at one of the pottery wheels.

Jarvis notices the dwarf outside the window and stands up and moves outside. "Master dwarf, you've returned, I was worried when I heard that you and the others left this morning to track down the goblins, I'm happy to see that you've made it through without any issues." he says.

Jarvis looks to his wife and then she nods. "Yes, 9 Gold, and I have one of them finished if you wanted to take a look." he says, as he goes and uncovers one of the Steins, it hasn't been fired yet, but its workmanship is quality and very impressive, the metal bits haven't been added yet either. But the carving is exactly what you wanted with the Hommlet scene.

"The stein looks beautiful.  Please don't forget to add 'Hommlet' and your marks on the bottoms."

"Here's 90 silver pieces to settle the cost.  If all of the steins turn out this well, I promise a tip on delivery."

"On a second note, I will be staying at the cottage next to the town hall.  I'm likely going to need plates and drinking mugs; perhaps even some flower vases and ewers.  I don't have anything specific in mind, but if you could come up with some ideas over the next week, I'd be glad for any suggestions."
