○ Abby of St. Cuthbert

As you enter the Abby, you come into the main hall. (1) This is where the faithful come to hear the sermon given on God's day eve. The place is floored in well-polished wood, with wooden pillars and a ceiling extending all the way to the roof high overhead. The walls are painted in pastoral scenes, and tinted glass mosaic windows of many shades of color allow light into the hall. There are no benches, pews or stools.

You can see from the main hall, it leads into the Processional. (2) Worshipers (as well as those to be confirmed, married, and so forth) are allowed to enter this way, led by the cleric or clerics concerned, the latter robed and with thurible and ceremonial billet of bronzewood. The floor here is of lighter wood, and the walls are deep blue, sprinkled with starbursts in silver leaf.

The Curtains to the Altar and Sanctuary (3) are open and you can see This circular chamber is screened by a drape of deep green velvet. Inside is a life-sized statue of St. Cuthbert, smiling, great cudgel held high with one hand, while the left hand beckons to the doubter and the faithful alike. Growing ferns and other plants are behind this statue, while to either side are tree stumps for the clerics to officiate from, while an altar is carved from a single piece of bronzewood, carved with billets, star bursts, and the sacred sign of the crumpled hat. The walls are wainscoted with carved panels, and a band of holy sayings runs above this woodwork and the painted walls which show various marvels performed by St. Cuthbert. If one of the faithful needs guidance or advice, small sticks are tossed upon the altar, and their conformation enables the cleric to select which holy saying or combination thereof applies.

Father Calmert moves into the processinal area and takes a seat on the wooden bench to the side. "St. Cuthbert is an interesting God, he has many holy proverbs, some of them humorius but still make sense. He says that Thick Heads are not made of glass. And Square corners can be pounded smooth. He believes that if you are not a follower of his, that you can become one after your foolishness is beaten from you. Now this mostly applies to old thinkers of the religion. We don't all go around beating people with our cudgels if you are not a follower. We understand that others follow different gods. But we do stress that enlightenment can penetrate even the helm of Iron. Even though some good folk can only understand one thing. We of the church strive to make them understand." he says. "We have those in Hommlet that would see us fall. Druidic Orders that have tried to desecrate our holy grounds, just this morning upon my inspection of the abby, druidic pictures had been painted on our west facing wall, I have acolytes cleaning it now. We have had many issues with those of the druidic faith." he says.

"Ah but could you not talk to them and try to co exist? After all religious harmony is important for peace. Any idea why they are at odds with you?" Storm asks curious.

Father Calmert says. "We have, this fight between our two factions has gone on for years, every once in awhile the fighting will start back up and then it dies down. The Followers of St. Cuthbert and those of the Druidic Orders are never going to get along. We must somehow just deal with them being here, as long as Jaroo tends to his grove here in Hommlet, and holds his speeches. I fear that their will still be issues." he says. "But on another note. With the acolytes busy with the cleaning and the Cannoness in chambers. could I task you with a favor for the church, I of course would pay." he says.

Father Calmert nods. "Its nothing to large a task, If you could go and collect the churches dues from Cavanaugh, at Sevensong's Brewery, I would be most appreciative. I could go myself but I have many tasks that need me here at the Abby. Cavanaugh works at the brewery as an apprentice, it should be easy enough to find him." the Priest says.

Father Calmert looks at Stormrider with a strange look. "You're heart is in the right place, but tithes to the Church are not meant for us to just takes the dues its part of the contrition that goes along with having St. Cuthbert in your soul. I see where you are coming from, and respect the offer, but the payment is for the believer not for someone else." the Priest says. "I could have easily paid the dues myself, I know that Brother Cavanaugh is struggling, with his new apprenticeship and the birth of his daughter. We all go through these troubled times." he says. "I will accept this payment, but we must not let Canoness Y'dey find out its been paid by from someone else." he says.

Storm apologizes to the priest and says to help someone should be the focus of any priesthood and he is certain the apprentice will be more devoted knowing here is kindness.
He then asks the priest if there's anything else he could do

Father Calmert ponders for a moment. "If you truly would like to help the church, there is something that you could do. Terjon an elder here at the Abby and devout follower of St. Cuthbert. Was at the battle of Emridy meadows, he lost a pendant during the battle, although its been years he talks about going back to the meadows and searching for the pendant but his age has finally caught up with him. If you and your companions are interesting, If you could search for the pendant and bring it back to us, as a gift to Terjon. The Church would be most appreciative." he says.
