As the combat wound to a close, Virius kept a watchful eye on the canopy of webbing. Making sure to call out if any additional monstrosities made themselves known.

Ali moves a bit closer towards Kossoth. Korkas attacks, his daggers bringing down the last of the huge spiders, dead. Althiof moves over towards Kossoth. The rain lightens as the last spider falls. It looks like the thunderstorm might be moving form this area. Light starts to slowly shine down through the canopy.

[END OF COMBAT]

Those inspecting the dead spiders to the south can try and harvest the poison glands on a proficiency roll for Survival, or Intelligence at -3. Knowing where to cut, and harvest it without any issues. [Four Spiders, Four Survival/Intelligence rolls, one for each. If you critically fail the check, you risk endangering yourself. If you are successful, you get a vial of Type A poison.

The Sheep bleats breaking the silence of the forest. As you look around you noticed a few cocoons wrapped in webbing, one of the nearby cocoons you can see a sword poking out of the bottom of the cocoon. Another nearby webbed cocoon looks to be a humanoid also.

As you move further using the torches to burn the webbing you get to one of the spiders hollows, peering inside the rotted tree trunk, you see another cocoon, this one smaller about the size of a halfling, and its wiggling.

You slowly start cutting open the cocoon, and when you slide your dagger up the side of the webbing you can see green skin on the inside. Its a Goblin! Its still weak from the poison and is clearly unable to try and fight, so it just lays there.

Korkas looks down at the weak and unconscious goblin shaking his head "We got a live one here, a stinkin gobo. Maybe he know something. Search the other sacks, see if we can determine who or what the rest of these poor saps were. And if ye see any eggs burn em." Korkas calls out loudly as he drags the goblin free, looking to see if there is any rope among those that fell before if not he he will undo the rope on his sack, using a 10' section to bind up the goblin.

Virius made his way toward the unopened cocoons.  He used his dagger to work them open, sawing through the webbing until the contents could once again see the light of day.

The Goblin is the only living thing that has been found. The other cocoons have the drained remains of humans inside them. One of them used to be a large man, the corpse wears Brigandine armor and has a scimitar hanging at its side. The poor fighter looks to have been ambushed before he was even able to draw his sword. The fighter has a Brooch that is holding a very fine cloak in position, around his armor. You can clearly tell that the cloak and the brooch are both magical, having no signs of age or mold. The second cocoon which is a few yards away, is another human, or maybe a half-Elf its hard to tell due to it having been here longer. You find a still intact bag, and a gold ring on the corpses finger. A quick glance inside the bag reveals a stash of coins and gemstones, along with a potion.

The goblin is still unconscious from the poison. Korkas is able to easily bind the sleeping goblin. The rest of the group checks the hollows for any eggs, or other spiders. Other than a few of the mundane smaller variety, the forest area is clear of any of the large creatures, or any eggs. Althiof is able to recover most of his arrows, although some of them will need cleaned.

In reply to Korkas Stonedelver (msg # 85):

Ali helps by holding the light sources up and burn away webbing.

Once they are done inspecting the webbing and poor souls caught in it.

Yes, we shall imprison the Goblin, maybe some one back in the village can speak Goblin and get some intel.

As he moves to the dead spiders, I have some slight abilities to extract stuff mainly from plants but I also know a bot about concocting formulas and making things and a bit of chemistry so I will lend a hand.  Plus I have a few small bottles we can use  chuckles, always prepared in case I find something.

(Herbalism, Concocting & Chemistry - Int 16, Dex 16 Wis 9 Con 16 if those help)

Having pulled his stiletto Kossoth moved up close to the Spider and ever so carefully began to harvest the poison sac from for it and then the one next to it that he'd taken part in killing.  The work was painstakingly precise in recovering the first two of the four spiders to which once completed he removed the fangs as well...partially to remind himself of his own mortality and seeming luck in not succumbing to the poison but to have similarly fine pointed items on hand as him mind ran through the options.  This gave the others more than enough time to do what they were doing...

Barring that which would be carried by another, Virius takes a few moments to load up Winter's saddlebags.

Unable to resist a good mystery, he handled the brooch, cloak, scimitar, armor, ring and potion in turn.  He studied the items for any markings or engravings that would hint at the purpose and qualities ... hopefully the thorough examination of the craftsmanship and the materials used might shed light on their true nature.

For the potion, he examined the nature of the substance through the vial, but stopped short of uncorking it.

"Ali, this would seem to be within your area of expertise."  He said of the potion.  "Would you care to examine this elixir?"

Virius Tesh rolled 68 using 6d20 with rolls of 6,13,17,6,10,16.  six spellcraft rolls, 8 or lower to pass.

Standing up he moved carefully over to the two other spiders and began the same painstaking careful work and he was glad, for not the first time, that he'd made himself such a fine instrument to help him take care of these things.  It was as if he was back home and removing the sac from a giant scorpion all over again and strangely it made him smile despite the fact of where they were and what was going on.  Clearly practice made perfect as he replicated his earlier successes with these two spiders in the same way...

In reply to Korkas Stonedelver (msg # 91):

Ali, looking at the work Kossoth did to retrieve the poison sac and backs off, Kossoth, you got this better then me.  Plants are more my thing.

Upon hearing  Virius call out to cheek the potion, Ali goes over to the potion and examines it.  Swishes the liquid about slowly, nothing solid in there or debree, all liquid.  Kinda think consistency.  I will want to examine it more closely using my lab so if you do not mind, I'll hang o to it and look at it later. I might be able to use some of that poison to concoct an antidote too?

Pockets the potion and moves to retrieve the two torches, can always reuse these.

Yes, lets bring the bodies back, maybe they can e identified and have a proper closure then let our wood cutter guy know he can go into the woods now..

"We double check to make sure we didn't miss anything of importance?" Korkas calls out as he wanders around checking some of the hallows and then double checking the goblins belongings for anything of note and being sure to remove any weapons he may have had.

Kossoth receives two vials of Type A Poison.

As Virius looks over the items, Spellcraft isn't going to tell you much about what they do, but it might give you an idea. The bag which should be molded, it in pristine shape, the bag easily feels like it weighs around fifteen pounds, but the items inside don't seem to equal that much. You believe this bag to be magical in nature, possibly a bag of holding. The Ring has a protection symbol engraved on its surface. The scimitar is also is very good shape, no rust, no dings in the blade. The brooch has the arcane symbol of protection and magic missile on it. Its likely a brooch of shielding, but you wont know until you Identify it. The cloak is of elven design, and color, dark greens with brown trim. The potion doesn't have any marks on the bottle, but it doesn't look like a healing potion. The Brigandine armor is of quality work, but is not magical.

You double and then triple check the area. Nothing else of value is found, the only survivor being the goblin which is unconscious. The two humans can easily be carried by the Mule. The goblin doesn't have anything on him. If Ali uses his lab, he will easily be able to determine what the potion is.
