Yaotl, still grinning to herself, an act that looks as ominous as a bloodly solar eclipse on a battlefield, strolls through the doors to the Inn of the Welcome Wench and immediately seeks out Spugonoir. She nods kindly to any patrons that are here but its obvious that her attention is elsewhere.

Re: The Funeral of a Friend....

Hommlet as it is commonly called is situated in the central part of the Flanaess, that portion of eastern Oerik Continent which is known and “civilized”. The village (actually hamlet-sized, though local parlance distinguishes it with the term “village”) is located some ten or so leagues southeast of the town of Verbobonc, on the fringe of the territory controlled by its noble Lord, the Viscount of Verbobonc. It is at a crossroads. To the north is the mighty Velverdyva River, along whose south bank runs the Lowroad. Many days’ travel to the east, on the shores of the Lake of Unknown Depths (Nyr Dyv) is the great walled city of Dyvers, the village of Sobanwych about halfway along the route. Below that to the southeast and east are miles and miles of forest, the Gnarley, beyond which is the Wild Coast, Woolly Bay, and the Sea of Gearnat. The road south forks a league or so beyond the little community, one meandering off towards the Wild Coast, the other rolling through the lower Kron Hills to the village of Ostverk and then eventually turning southwards again into the elven Kingdom of Celene. The western route leads into the very heart of the gnomish highlands, passing through Greenway Valley about a day‘s travel distant and going onwards to the Lortmil Mountains far beyond.

Yaotl enters the Inn of the Welcome Wench and she notices Spugonoir sitting alone at one of the tables. He still looks to be depressed, like the entire world has ended. Ostler is at the bar like usual. Vesta is nowhere to be seen, and you can hear Glora in the kitchen, humming a slight tune. Robbar and Tomas are sitting at one of the tables drinking as well. But other than them, no one else in here in the Inn.

Re: The Funeral of a Friend....

Yaotl strides to the table that Spugs is in and sets the spellbook down in front of him with great care. Still seeming slightly lost to her inner thoughts, she still sees the delivery done.
"You must take great joy in this day, your honor is returned to you and those whom have spit in your eye are returned to the ground.  Though I do have questions about what happened to you in the beginning."

Virius grabbed a seat at Spugonoir's table and sat down.  He picked at his once fine, but now quite torn and bloodstained, robes.

"It wasn't easy, friend Spugonoir."  Virius said.  "But fate smiled upon our venture."

Re: The Funeral of a Friend....

Spugonoir looks at the book, then to the others and then back to the book. His eyes fill with tears as the floor lets loose. He grabs the book quickly opening it and seeing the handwritten entries of his former Master, and the elegant penmanship. "Thank you, all of you!." he cries out. You can tell that Spugonoir is deeply thankful of your actions. "I know I don't have much, its not about the spells within, I could eventually rewrite a new spellbook. Its more about the memories I have of my Master and the countless hours training using this book to learn the most basic of spells. I am thankful it has returned. I am sorry that the task was not an easy one, whatever I can do to help please let me know. I've decided to stay here in Hommlet for awhile, your retrieval of my book is not the only good news." He does a quick glance to Vesta who has appeared from the kitchen and is talking to her Father at the bar. Spugonoir's eyes wander to her and he smiles. Clearly Spugonoir is attracted to Vesta, and those observant enough to notice will see Vesta steal a quick glance and smile towards Spugonoir. "Hommlet's not a bad place to stay for awhile, like I said, if you need anything please do not hesitate to ask." he says.

Korkas followed Spugonoir's gaze and nodded, he wasn't the wisest man but he understood what a woman could lead a man to do. "Well looks like we will be busy around here, so likely we will take you up on that. You happen to know any magiks that help you determine what an item can do?"

He looks over to Virius "Or perhaps you?"

Re: The Funeral of a Friend....

Spugonoir shakes his head. "I can determine if an item has magic enchantments, but I do not have the ability to determine what it can do. That would require the spell that Mages call Identify, as I only have the ability to detect if magic is present." he says.

She looks to Korkas "We should pay him a visit when we have something to bargain with. Either coin or work that we can do."

Back to Spugs "When you were taken from behind, did you see anything other than goblins? Or perhaps even a larger one that was a bit hobbish? We fear that these are part of larger problem."

Spugonoir shakes his head. "It was just the goblins, and even then it was all a daze, I got hit from behind and then fell to the ground. When I woke up they had rummaged through all my belongings which were strewn about destroyed. That is when I noticed my Spell book missing." he says.

"Even apart from that, we've seen these creatures leave behind weapons and gems in the wagons that they strewn apart on the trail. They were not after random loot. Spugonoir have you had dealings with anyone... unsavory of late? Or perhaps even just heard of strange people about lately?"
Yaotl pauses and blushes, as if realizing the ironic question she just asked.

In reply to Dungeon Master (msg # 303):

As Ali sits and listens, Spugonoir, maybe at a quiet time we can and looks to the others who look to be mages in the group , share our spell books knowledge or at least see what spells you may have that we do not and learn of them, shrugs, a bit of a pay back for the groups deeds?  and looks to confirm with the others.

"We should go speak with Rufus and Burne. May they can help us with some of this treasure. Anyone want to come with me?" Korkas states to the group and then looks towards Ostler "Rufus and his friend Burne live in the tower up yonder hill over that way?" Korkas points generally the direction he thinks it is from here.

To Spugonoir "The Captive's suggestion would be well if it would not trouble you too much. Today's fight had far more bloodshed on our part than I would have hoped for."

To Virius "I would very much like to speak to you later this evening if you are available. I feel that I could learn much from you."

In reply to Korkas "I would like to meet more of the people of this town. I'll join you if you'll have me."

Spugonoir smiles. "I don't mind letting all of you look over my spell book. My master was a very kind mentor, and teacher. He would have wanted me to share my knowledge. I know that some Mages are picky with who they share their knowledge. I'm not like that." he says. "So yes, later this evening if you want to look at it, I would be happy to oblige." he adds. "Yes, Rufus and Burne live in the tower at the edge of town, past the work camp." he says.

"Erhm.. yes I will walk your pace.  My apologies, its been a while since I've been around those with two legs." She belatedly barks a laugh and stands up from the table. She turns to Spugonoir "You are a kind man, I'm sure your master would have been proud of the man you are today."

With that she walks to the door and waits for the dwarf to lead the way.

Sighing, "I've been called a lot in my short life, but The Captive is a new one."  Smiles, Please, Please just call me Ali and maybe I could hang with you all while I am here?"  Looks about, I have no other friends you would be it and grins. "I would love to go with you all to  Rufus and Burne's.

Spugonoir, that would be most helpful and what your master would approve of I am sure.  Later tonight could work out.

Spugonoir gives another heartfelt thanks to those that returned the spell book and tells them to please let the others know of his thanks. He lets them know that he will be at the Inn all evening reading his spell book whenever they are ready to come and look it over.

The three of you head off towards the Tower.
