Ostler nods. "Its not something we normally advertise to visitors, I'm sorry you all had to see that." he says and then turns and heads back over to the bar, leaving the group to the privacy of the room.

"Help yourself to one of the drinks on the tray.  We should probably wait for the others before we open the wine."

Re: The Funeral of a Friend....

Korkas wandered in from outside thoroughly drenched. He shook his head a bit to clear some of the rain from it. And the proceeded to shake his clothes out a but before he wandered over to the bar. He pulled out a few coins and set it on the bar while Ostler was delivering the wine "My donation for your hospitality." he remarked to Gloria as he set back down on the bar 3 platinum coins he had been given for his share of the goblin loot.

Korkas smiled at her and walked back towards the private room grabbing a couple cords of wood for the fire. He needed to dry off.

He did not usually speak like this.  Maybe it was the ale, of which he took another drink.

Virius took his seat, a steaming mug of tea in his hands.  He pushed a wet lock of hair free of his face and worried at the holes in his once-fine robe, making a mental note to get the garment repaired.

"Gentlemen."  He said.  "Apologies for not accompanying you throughout town ... I was attending to the spells in my tome."

"I gather much has happened during my absence?"  He inquired.

Coming in from the rain Kossoth shook his cloak out at the doorway so as to not drag in a lot of water.  Looking around he headed over to the room they had been planning on going into and headed there in the hopes that they could get down to talking about their next moves.  Spotting Althiof, Virius, Storm and Korkas already there he let a small nod to them.  Like Korkas he needed to dry off so he tried to take a seat close to the fire or in the least hang his cloak that get most wet close by to dry off.

Korkas threw an extra log or two on the fire and then proceeded to hang up how cloak near the fire. Than dragging a chair closer he kicked his feet up as he drew his blades, wiping them down, running them over a whetstone and then providing a soft oil to keep them from rusting. "I was the muscle, guard when needed, pit fighter when needed and enforcement when needed." Korkas offered without much encouragement not even looking back towards the table. His focus was on his braces, keeping them razor sharp and in good care. The rest of his clothes looked worn and seldom cared for.

Re: The Funeral of a Friend....

Kossoth looked over to Storm before the others, "Earlier today I would have said lets handle the spiders since they aren't far from territory we know and have travelled my friends."

He opened up his pack and removed a wrapped item to put on the table.  Unwrapping it they saw it to be the silver crown that was heavily encrusted with gems, "The jeweler is cutting down the rubies so everyone can get a fair share right now but when I asked about removing the stones and adjusting the crown she noted an inscription on it, 'For Tillahi, with all my love' and she thought it was some elvish Princess' name.  Ostler let us know that Sir Juffer & Princess Tillahi, a pair of elvish nobles, passed through here about a week ago.  The Princess talked to Black Jay for awhile but Ostler didn't know where they had gone after leaving his inn." he pointed down at the crown, "Obviously something happened to them that led this crown to be in the goblins lair.  I wasn't going to tell the jeweler to break it down till everyone could decide if we wanted to see if we could find out what happened to the two of them.  A week on in the past I would say that they are dead if this was in goblins hands.  Now though they are knocking mages on the head and stealing their spellbooks and leaving them alive.  They may still be alive...either wounded and in hiding, or captured and going to be used for ransom or some other dark or nefarious plan."

The dwarf's head turned quickly to Tesh and his answer.  "If I'm not mistaken, there is some kind of mage spell that causes another to be your friend, and possibly take orders or suggestions from you.  Do you know of this spell?  Was it in Spug's spellbook?"

"There are spells of which you speak — charms that would bend a man's will, force him to obey — but Spugnoir's master did not have these.  He did have one of a lesser sort, however."

"This particular enchantment would simply have taken the mage's own force of personality and amplified it ... the effect being centered on the mage himself."

"Hm,"  Virius said, taking a moment to examine the crown.  "Perhaps we should send word to the princess' people?  Let them know of our discovery?"

He sets the crown down on the table.  "In any event, this should be returned to its rightful owners.  Not only is it proper and just ... but acquiring allies within the elvish courts is a treasure that one cannot possibly find in a cavern."

"Hey, now that almost everyone is here, I've got three platinum pieces for each person for the goblin ears."

(Apparently Korkas time traveled, because he already gave them back to Ostler.)

"Btw, Ostler says they didn't come out of his pocket, but from the new Ranger Lord, which is where all the free room and board has come from for the funeral."

(P.S. This was NOT in the total treasure everyone already received.  This is in addition to...)

Korkas nods as he stares into the fire a moment "We got spiders to deal with tomorrow. Perhaps we can find way to send word for the Princess Or perhaps we just start looking ourselves. We got an idea where some of the camps are and we can speak to the rangers about more specifics."

(Why does it matter now that we have time traveled on money and things. Everyone has been doing it all day. Why call me out on it now?)

Korkas turns to look at the others "So that means we have on our plate some spiders, the issue with the Ruffus and Burne, the issue between the gods" he mutters under his breath a moment "some dandy elven princess and a this Zert fellow and his missing caravan. What ya think we can tackle first?"

"We certainly must return the crown and resolve all the matters if we can! However, my humble opinion is that we deal with the simplest problem first. By doing so, we can gain some valuable experience before tackling the more difficult tasks. Perhaps spiders seem the easiest as they shoild be there without us having to find them. However, they may carry poisons," Storm says.

"I had some business with Jaroo the druid, and he suggested I see the woodcutter about some issue.  So I went to Tarim's house (he's got lots of chopped wood, btw), and he told me about the spiders, and why he needs to cut wood in that area.  I told him I might get folks to help, so he told me what path to take off of the road, and what the trees look like (they're different than most of the trees in the area."

Re: The Funeral of a Friend....

He did add a simple nod in agreement as he looked at his torn robe and the wound he'd bound up.  Perhaps it would heal mostly in time for the morrow, "We're lucky to have you with us Athiof.  We know more about the spiders than just about anything else so we likely want to head off to take care of them, but if I can find Black Jay to speak to before we leave we can find out if the two of them went in the same direction and perhaps we need to keep a wary eye in case they ran afoul of the spiders and the goblins just picked up what was dropped.  Anyone know where he lives so I can see if he'll have any useful information to give?"
