Re: The Funeral of a Friend....

Ostler looks to Korkas after getting the rest some drinks. "Yeah a few of them make their way over to the Inn for drinks and entertainment. Why do you ask, one of them slight you in some way?" he asks. Ostler looks at the Elvish Long sword with a strange look of remembrance on his face, everyone notices.

"It resembles the sword that Sir Juffer was using, of course the blade is in much better shape now, but the pommel, that Elvish writing and filigree I recognize." he says. Ostler shakes his head. "With finding the crown and now the blade, I fear the worst has happen to Princess Tillahi and Sir Juffer." he says.

Dungeon Master:
Spugnoir is not in the Inn.

Ostler when asked about where Spugnoir is sighs. "Likely out with Vesta, the two of them left about an hour ago and haven't been back yet, I'd be worried, but I know my girl can take care of herself, Especially if Spugnoir tried to get handsy. But this weather. Its what has me really worried, its not like her to be out in this sort of rain." he says. "But trying to keep young love apart will only make matters worse." he says. "Thanks for the coin, and its my youngest daughter that looks in on the stables. I'll make sure she gets the copper." he says.

Ali looks to the rest of the group still at the bar.  hhmm, might be a problem and a possible adventure involving missing Elvesthen sighs, but I have a more immediate idea.  Looks to Oslter, then to the group, it seems there is a young lady out tonight with a certain young mage that may be a bit overdo back and with this storm maybe we could look for them by way of checking the town out for those who like to cause trouble in these times of te night. Smiles and maybe someone will be at ease friends went to check things out - you know the town.  shrugs, plus it seems we all like to travel in storms with heavy rain as he looks to where Storm was just sitting  and chuckles so who is with me to foray out into the town hiddy spots to look for young Vesta and hopefully find Spugnoir to who owes me a peek at his book.

Re: The Funeral of a Friend....

Starting on his new ale, the locksmith was beginning to lose interest.  He was not here to solve every problem in the world.  He was here for the funeral of a friend.  With all that had gone down in the last couple days, he was growing weary of new problems which seemed to grab the attention of others.

He took a drink from his ale.  "I'm going to the fireplace in the back room."

He wondered why people thought going out in the dark at ten o'clock at night to peoples homes was going to be warmly received.

Re: The Funeral of a Friend....

Advancing

After another hour Spugnoir & Vesta end up returning to the Inn. Ostler has a few choice words with his daughter who in turn responds in kind, about being old enough to make her own decisions. Spugnoir stays out of it, refusing to say anything to Ostler on fear of possibly loosing his bed upstairs. With most people at home in their own beds, the Inn doesn't see much entertainment tonight. No Bards, no late dinners. The Inn is calm and provides a nice relaxing atmosphere for everyone to just enjoy themselves by the fire. Ostler starts wrapping up the bar serving the last few drinks and walks around and starts turning the dampers on the lanterns, preparing the Inn for the night ahead. Spugnoir kisses Vesta's hand as she departs to the kitchen and then upstairs to the living quarters of the Inn. After she is gone, he presents Ali, Virius and Yaotl who eventually returned from the Tower with his spell book to research.

Most retire to the common room upstairs, those that don't are ushered out of the Inn or to their rooms when Ostler shuts down the Inn completely. He loads up the hearth with a good amount of wood and then retires to his quarters with Glora.

The Common room upstairs has less people this time around. The Ranger's having spent the first night in the Inn were now camped nearby, now that the Ranger Lord and the others had arrived. Lightning and thunder roll in over night, but your sleep is very restful.

Each of you gain 5 Hit points overnight, getting a restful sleep.

Date: Harvester, Waterday, 5th, 576CY

Current Time: Morning
Current Weather: Heavy rain & Thunderstorms.

You each awake in the Common room, the hearth having kept the room nice and warm all night. You hear the rain outside is still falling, and the rolling of thunder can still be heard, the lightning strikes are few and far between.

Breakfast has already started downstairs. The smell of pork bacon and chicken eggs fill your noses. Some of the other Inn stayers have already woken and gone downstairs.

Storm wakes up and enters the inn to eat his breakfast. After that he sorts out his gear and waits for his companions.
Despite the rain, he is excited about the spider quest.

Re: The Funeral of a Friend....

The dwarf comes downstairs in his adventuring outfit, fully equipped with weapons and pack.  Luckily, his clothes are dry enough for the moment, but with the sound of rain and thunder, he expected they would not stay dry for long.

He walked over to a member of the owning family, and thought to himself, 'Any more news from last night?  Riots? Werewolves? Vampires?'  But all that came out was, "Good morning.  A plate of breakfast please.  I'll be in that back room over yonder."

Going into the back room, he took a seat and began working on his current pet project while waiting for the delicious food to arrive.

He pulls up a chair with Although and leans back and closes his eyes a but longer as he waited for the others

Virius had awakened to the rumble of distant thunder.  The rains had gotten worse throughout the evening and now the skies were blustery and dark.  Washing up and making his way downstairs, he found his way toward breakfast and the rest of the party.  After pleasantries were exchanged, Virius placed a concerned glance toward the window.

"This weather bodes ill for going afield"  He said.  "The spiders can last another day, I would think.  It will hardly impose further delay on the woodcutter, it's not as if Tarim would be working outside in this downpour."

As Virius tucked into this breakfast, he brought forth an idea.

"Though it was melancholy events which led to our joining, I daresay that our union has led — and will lead — to great things."

"I have half a mind to see such a relationship continue.  Setting forth under charter, true and binding, as a company of adventurers.  Equal shares to all, of course."

Yaotl has been quiet the little that she was there last night and most of the this morning, as if lost in deep thought. With a start, she looks up at the others in the common room and speaks around a large mouthful of bread "Oh I had learned the identify spell that some of you had mentioned yesterday. If we are still in need to look at the armor then I will be available."

Re: The Funeral of a Friend....

Virius' ears perk up when the Olman mage mentioned her newfound spell.  Inquisitive, he spent a moment studying the intricate beadwork she wore.  Was it different than yesterday?  The Suloise historian could not be sure.  He knew so little of how the Olman mystic practiced the Art.

"Yaotl, I had been meaning to discuss your people's magical traditions with you.  They are so very different than the rigid arcane formulae that I have studied.  It fascinates me that two different peoples can arrive at very much the same solution using two completely different methods."

"It does not have to be this moment of course,"
He said, indicating the wizardess' unique headdress.  "But I would be honored if you could explain how you mark the intonations, movements, and sigils required."

Switching topics then, the mage continued.  "How receptive was Burne when you approached him.  I had been meaning to visit the man but did not get the chance yesterday."

Korkas shrugged at Althiof "Might make it easier for us to hunt them in the rain. Web's won't be as sticky and they won't be as prone to moving about." Looking over to Ali "Depending how big the spiders are, the chicken may not entice them enough given the rain." Korkas digs his fork into his plate drawing another huge amount of food into his mouth and then washing it down with a bit of watered drink, not quiet done chewing he looks to Virius "A charter, guess we can do that."

"Of course, it would be an honor to share wisdom across lands. There are few things more foolish than passing up knowledge to be gained. We will do this when our allies are not eager to fling their spears so readily." She replies with a faint smile and a nod.
"Burne was very accommodating, however, his partner chafes with a single breeze. Through our talks it seems that the partner is the greater of the two.  If you approach, I recommend doing so with respect."
