Re: The Funeral of a Friend....

In reply to Stormrider Truesight (msg # 436):

Awakened by the chatter, Ali packs his bed gear and makes things tidy.  Gathers his adventuring gear and heads to the common room.

He looks for Spurgnu and kindly returns his spell book (unless it was done last night after his studies)  "Thanks my friend I found a few useful spells"

Once done, he goes to the groups table and sets his adventure back pack down and sits.  Good morning my friends, yawns late night looking over some sells from the book.

Orders when he can a simple egg n cheese with bread and a morning honey mead.

He listens and chimes in when appropriate: Group charter you say, sure could be useful for all of us to follow.    Shurgs Spiders not liking rain, yea they avoid most heavy down pours but that means they are more clustered together instead of spread out in hunting mode.  Plus it is hard to burn wet webbing.

Looks between the other spell castser New spell I hear, that one sounds useful. Chuckles maybe one night we should all compare what we can cast so we can cooperate our abilities without duplication.

Finished his breakfast and sets and waits for the final decision.

Re: The Funeral of a Friend....

With it looking like most want to head out in the rain, the group decides to do that. After having a hearty breakfast, and preparing their gear for the rain. They disembark on the north road. With the idea of a charter in their heads. This trip will give them time to decide if that is what they want to do.

Storm enters the inn and looks for a Table in the main hall to chill. He informs the innkeeper to inform his friends to join him when they arrive.

He orders the inn's specialty and looks around the inn. He will buy ale to toast other patrons and try to find new information from them

Re: The Funeral of a Friend....

For those at the Inn. Ostler and Glora are going around and securing the Inn. Those in the common room of the Inn will see a very worried Ostler if asked, he will describe to them that the weather has never been like this before.

Weather Update

The Weather suddenly takes a worse turn. Hail starts pinging the roofs and structures outside. The wind starts blowing so far that people outside need to brace themselves. Shutters are flung off windows, and doors are forced open from the wind, and need barred from the window. The wing starts howling louder and louder, the rain comes down more heavy as small flooding starts near the creek. The hail starts damaging those that are ouside in it and not under something. Its easy to fine overhead cover to protect yourself wherever you are. Lightning flashes become more frequent and the thunderous echo groans louder.

With his esoteric inscriptions and arcane formulae finally transcribed, Virius came down from his room to the main hall.  He didn't know a lot about severe weather ... but he knew enough to be concerned when the locals were.

Yaotl comes down from the top floor clutching her head and donning a sickly expression, one that resembles the feeling of biting into a soft boiled egg only to find that the chicken decided to grow early.
She sees Ostler's panic and lays herself aside and begins helping without a word. After the immediate needs of the house are met she asks  "What exactly is not normal about this, the lighting or hail?  Do you know of anyone infirm in this town that might need help in this?"

Re: The Funeral of a Friend....

Ostler looks to the foreign women. "The weather is never like this during Harvester, never this bad, sure a little rain and sometimes some storms. but never like this." he says as he moves to tac up another board to the window. "This is very strange." he says. Just as he says this, lightning strikes just outside, hitting a tree and splitting it in half down the middle, for a moment a small fire appears but the rain quickly puts it out. Half of the tree falls into the street. Black smoke raises from the charred tree.

"The weather looks unnatural. Since you claim that The weather is never this bad, could someone be capable of changing the weather? "Storm asks.

He also asks if the innkeeper has a heavy poncho he can borrow.

Re: The Funeral of a Friend....

Ostler says. "Druids of the Old Faith are rumored to be able to predict the weather and some stories say that they are able to change it, but if it is them, why bring the storm, or make it worse." he thinks for a moment, and then his hand goes to his face. "If Jaroo and his Druids are controlling this, its likely going to get worse before it gets better. Its possible that this is revenge for the killing of his bear." Ostler says.

Ostler shakes his head. "I think Terjon at the church is the eldest in Hommlet, well Widow Mathilde I think might be the same age or thereabouts, as for infirm, sickly, or just not able to get under shelter. I don't think so, and if their is, they don't come much around the Inn." He says. "I'd be more worried about the creek possibly flooding to to all the rain, I'm sure the Mill and the waterwheel are having a damned good time." he says with a sour look.

A nearby strike of lightning flashes through the closed shutters, and the following bang of thunder is heard, The strike being very close.

Althiöf ambled through the door, taking a moment to shake his cloak a bit.  He then walked up to the bar and spoke to the proprietor, "I'll take one of your famous ales, my good man.  Need to take the edge off a bit.  Say, cousin, how long do these storms last around here?  A day or so, or could it be longer like a week?"

Re: The Funeral of a Friend....

He took a long drink of the ale, and then held up his mug in a silent toast to Ostler as the ale went down his throat.

Then the locksmith looked to Korkas, "Which direction?  How many days travel to it?"

Truth be said, he was not completely certain that Hommlet should be left alone at the moment.
