Re: The Funeral of a Friend....

Storm greets his friend and tells him of his day running around to organize the cemetery. As a cleric of life, he feels the need to maintain the cemetery. He eats heartily while sharing his tales and asking Ali to share what transpired.

OOC: just update me ic in passing. I read the threads

Korkas come stomping back into the inn, stopping at the threshold long enough to clean some of the mud off his shoes, not wanting to bring it all into the inn. He looked to Ostler "A few still in the room?"

Korkas nods and smiles at Stormrider "Thank you. That is appreciated. Come we should discuss all that we have learned in private." He led the way towards the private room they had been in earlier, hoping that the others will still there discussing things.

Re: The Funeral of a Friend....

Inside the Private Room

Now that everyone was inside the sideroom the door was shut to offer some privacy. The pot of stew was on the table along with some wooden bowls and spoons. Ale and some cups were at the other end. Three loaves of bread, which smelled freshly baked were also near the stew. Ali, Althiof, Korkas, Kossoth, Stormrider, Virius, and Yaotl were all here, seated around the wooden table, having dinner and talking about the events of the day.

Right now the party has a few things on the agenda to talk about. Zert, whom you haven't seen in the last day, was worried about the Caravan that was heading south having been attacked by Ogres. Now it might be coincidence, but these Ogres could be the same that Goldenhair has recruited. Zert hasn't been seen for the last day, so its likely he ventured off along the south road to check things out for himself. Burne & Rufus are still trying to find out who is sabotaging their work at the construction site, There is still the case of Terjon's missing Pendant which is rumored to have been lost in Emridy Meadows to the north. The issue with Princess Tillahi of Celene and Sir Joffer rumored to have been captured and taken to the Moathouse by Goldenhair. And of course the ongoing trouble with the Old Faith and the Priest Calmert. Luckily for now Jaroo and the Druids have left Hommlet for the time being. The information found out from the goblin confirms that this Lareth Goldenhair has been recruiting humanoids and forcing goblin tribes to work with them, to try and bring a presence back to the Temple of Elemental Evil, the Goblin also told you that he was working from the nearby Abandoned Moathouse which you've heard a few mentions about during your time here in Hommlet.

As a Dungeon Master I do not want to assume that you share all the information that you learned. But to prevent meta from happening you actually need to share the Information, if that is what you are going to do.

Re: The Funeral of a Friend....

The dwarf was surprised when everyone started filing into the private room in back.  He had spent a nice quiet evening on his project, and had enjoyed the time alone.  In fact, he had completed his current project, and had just finished putting everything away.  He placed his pack upon the floor next to his chair.

Seeing that more ale and another late dinner had been brought in, "My thanks, just in time for a refill."

"Has the rain slowed down?"

Storm eats as he listens to his friends trade news. He suggests checking out the moathouse if the rest are comfortable. Perhaps more prisoners can be brought back for interrogation.

Re: The Funeral of a Friend....

”I am just disappointed I could not identify who was poisoning Black Jays sheep my friends.” sighed Kossoth.

”Still knowing that the two elves were taken to the moat house is good...even if there is only a small chance they are still alive considering the reputations of their captors.  Much as I want to head there first I wonder if we should check on the caravan that headed south.  If the ogres are there causing trouble just like the goblins were to the east and if we can put an end to them down there that will be fewer allies for this Goldenhair to call on when we come calling.”

He glanced over at Storm, ”You don’t have a salve do you?  Your earlier magic helped greatly but the bite isn’t fully healed yet.”

ooc: Storm, I’m only down two HP so if no one else needs healing I’ll take it to be full.  Otherwise by tomorrow I’ll be one down from the nights sleep.

"Korkas and I were discussing this earlier, and at the time, the moathouse seemed like a good idea."

"If the elves were sent there, we don't know how long they'll live.  If we show up late, they might already be dead.  If this group is trying to get the Temple going, the elves might be a sacrifice to their gods."

Althiƶf took a slow drink from his new ale.

"Yeah we talked that gobbo. Lots of good info out of him, worried bout his hide. This Lareth has been working to unite the clans, like six of them including a pair of ogres and an ogre Magi. Only ever heard rumors about them smart ogres, they scary though. Lareth seems to be commonly seen with half a dozen gnolls though." Korkas interjects as he served himself some hit stew, the slop of stew in how bowl scatters across the table. He then gathers a chunk of bread ripping himself a piece before he continues "We need to scout out this Moathouse, see what's there before we go charging in. And if those ogres are there it's going to be a tough fight. But maybe we lucky and they off chasing after more Car and and we can deal with them later."

"Yes scouting is good. We need to roughly know how powerful they are and if we can find vantage points around the moat house to mount an ambush," Storm chimes in.

He is excited by the prospect of the fighr.

"Well this Lareth is also some sort of devout man, possibly a priest, of the Evil god of the Temple, forget his name. Ali might remember better. A quick scout around the moathouse may be a good plan before we go charging in." Korkas states as he allows himself to dry off a bit by the fire.

"If we are my friends we need to remember that if what that goblin said was true we can not afford to get into a fight there.  We are resourceful but two ogres? A ogre magi? A few clans of goblins? More hobgoblins? Goldenhair?  Combined it is well above what we can accomplish alone." he looked to the others for everyone to understand the gravity if they didn't already.

Re: The Funeral of a Friend....

"I still think heading south to check on the caravan before heading to the moathouse would be more sound my friends but if most of you wish to scout the moathouse I will come along and support as I have before." remarked Kossoth.  He wasn't about to leave those that had become his companions here but he needed to voice his opinion regardless.  If all they were doing was scouting the moathouse the lives of the Princess and her companion weren't going to be rescued then anyhow...if they were seen at all from a distance...of course if 'scouting' meant something different in their minds than his that could handle the difference in points of view.

In reply to Stormrider Truesight (msg # 507):

Ali sits and eats his stew, pulling a spoon out of his pocket and eating without much mess.  Drinks his ale or meade or the like served by Ostler.

Xavir says Golden hair worshiped the elemental Eye, and was wearing really weird purple robes.  Xavir's clan worshiped the lord and savior Maglubiyet.

Finishes his stew, There were yes 6 clans of Goblins coerced int joining him.  There were humans too that were with him.  A squad of Gnolls, 6 per Xavir.  He mentioned patrols and a larger force then just the Goblins.  His cave, the one we looted was a resting spot and meeting place.

I like the idea of scouting but truly if we checked on the caravan and possibly were able to render one or two of the Ogres or others of Goldenhairs forces out of commission could be a good thing. While helping us possible gain more experience and better equip for the fight.

Ali sets th bowl and cup aside, wipes his spoon clean and tucks it away.

Now, the night is old and time for some of us to study but we have not decided on a name for ourselves?
