Epilogue
This is a freeform discussion thread that takes place IMMEDIATELY AFTER your first big team-up, when you decide to be a team, come up with a name, and appoint a leader. I am absolutely not telling you what the team-up was about or what you did, you guys can make that up as you go along, including where you are and what's currently going on. Try to leave some world-building for the other PCs if you post first.

Epilogue
Brian emerged from the waves, holding his arm still dripping with blood even as the gash was slowly closing by itself. His weary eyes stared a moment at the dawn pushing its way past the horizon of ocean towards the sky. He closed his gill slits and took a deep breath of salty, acrid air. He turned his attention to the clouds of smoke billowing from the destroyed factory, mere blocks away.

He despised his kin for what they were, and the feeling was mutual. Even if they long past most people's definition of human, they deserved than to be experimented upon like laboratory animals. Still seething with disgust at the things he saw in there, he leaned to the side to spit his bloody fangs clean before tying a spare black bandanna around his jaw.

The clear membranes over his eyes began to dry out in the salty air, and he squinted to draw them back. He could now make out the ripples as the last of the Chesapeake Old Ones escaped back to the  bay, and their ancient hidden coves. Even after this savage punishment, how long before the corporate scum went looking for them again? Would there even be any left to recapture in a generation or two? Pollution was winnowing away their numbers in ways that centuries of paranoid mobs could not. But that was beyond his ability to fix. For now at least...

He was done playing Moses for now. But where were his new fast friends? There. The others were emerging from the factory. They survived. Very impressive. These are good people to know, he thought. His boots pushed deep into the damp sand as he made his way to the factory parking lot outside the gates, where they were having an impromptu gathering.

Epilogue
"Why is there always a knight?" the small dragon asked as it tried to shake more rubble-dust off one wing.  "Every single time, it's some guy with a sword and armor pulled out of a museum that just wants you to set him on fire.  They have no problem working with things from beyond the waves, but dragons - dragons they have to kill on sight.  Why is that?"

"You can call me Drake, by the way," it declared as it flapped its long-wings (well, long compared to its small body) and lifted into the air.  The fact that the wings didn't appear to really influence the flying much - as it only occasionally bothered to flap them - was slightly odd.

"You know why." Professor Phenomenon didn't bother to elaborate. He was wearing a traditional spandex superhero outfit, blue and gold, the kind he only bothered with when the press was likely to show up. He looked back towards the horizon. "No sign of The Killmaster. I suspect he's elected to vacate before the Deep Ones discover his duplicity."

Epilogue
The young man in the black cyber-goth outfit stretched out his tentacles to leap onto the hood of one of the wrecked cars in the parking lot. As he crouched to a more comfortable position, its horn started wailing. Without looking back, a pseudopod reached in and ripped out the steering wheel, hurling it a hundred yards away. The alarm died off.

"Pardon. Now where were we?"

Epilogue
Arriving at the parking lot from the direction of the shuttered factory, her boots clock-clocking on the concrete to herald her approach, Kara flicked a sheen of ichor from her golden sword: a theatrical little flourish which she nonetheless managed to make look offhandedly casual.  Sssshhinnggg, it sang as she slid it back into the sheath belted to the hip of her mail armor.

She narrowed her eyes slightly and canted her head a few degrees sideward, clearly appraising Kraken up and down as she addressed his question.  "I think before we got rudely interrupted, we were all busy wondering why we'd all shown up to each others' battle," she said.  "Not that I'm complaining, for sure; there was a lot more fight here than I'd expected.  And I'm getting the feeling I'm not the only one who felt that way?  I for one certainly don't mind saying I definitely ended up appreciating a bit of backup before the end, there."  She grinned then, a big broad dazzling grin that proclaimed enough casual confidence to withstand a bit of gently amused self-mockery: "Or even a lot of backup, as it turned out."

She glanced from face to face around the group for a moment, eventually settling on the little dragon-thing which had introduced itself.  "I'm Kara," she said, with a nod of greeting.

"Yes, it's funny - in the days it's taken us to unravel the secrets of the Forbidden Zone and escape the Perils of the Prison Planet, I never thought to ask any of you your real names, not even after Kenosha Boy's funeral." Professor Phenomenon shook his head. "We've shared blood and tears, but not a bit of common courtesy."

He put a hand on his heart. "Perhaps now Kenosha Boy can rest in peace, knowing that vengeance has been served."

He stopped, as if suddenly remembering something. "Oh, yes, you can continue calling me Professor or Phenomenon. I don't really have other identities anymore."

"THAT. WAS. AWESOME!" You here Sonic shot from afar. He emerges from the ruins of the factory, one arm limp at his side. One moment he is across the lot near the factory, next he is leaning next to a car with you all. His blue suit is in tatters, his goggles missing a lens and missing a shoe.

Ok, that was cool. Like, did you see that guy in armor? Like full on renaissance, and his face when he saw Smaug here? He looked like you just took his last slice man. Was not expecting so many goons, totally not from the sea. OH! and I think my arm is broken! Can't feel it though - look at it wiggle - think I'm in shock or something. Anyone hungry? I'm hungry. Oh, I'm Raz by the by. Oh! Professor P, how did you do that thing you did on that planet? That was crash!

Epilogue
Brian stands up on top of the car.

”Well...My name’s Brian. I snuck into the place to free my...kinfolk. I was halfway in when they caught me. You guys are a hell of a distraction I’ll give you that! *chuckle* Obviously there was a lot more going on than I expected. Like a whole Amazon warehouse of mad scientist projects I guess.”

He pulled off his bandana as his extra limbs withdrew into the rips in the sides of his shirt.

“I couldn’t have got the survivors out without you guys. And...though they don’t remember how to show it, they must be grateful. I know I am.”

He jumped down and looked at each of them.

”They say genocide’s the worst thing you can do. Uncle Sam almost wiped us out in our Innsmouth home a hundred years ago, maybe even had good reason...but those creatures that’s what’s left of those that escaped the Virginia labs. They’re still my family, as savage as they are. I can’t even tell if my parents were in the escapees. I guess I’ll never know. But you... You just stopped a genocide. That’s the best thing you can possibly do in my book...

You’re Liberators.

"... you got a weird family, dude."  Kara grinned agreeably, leaning with casual ease back against the side of a smashed F-150, crossing her arms over her chest.  "Still though, kin is kin."  She dipped an approving nod to Brian.  "I don't mind a nice bit of liberating, once in a while."

Not really having a lot of firsthand experience with physical injury, she regarded Raz waving around his obviously mangled arm with a gently bemused skepticism.  "... are you sure you should be doing that?  Aren't you going to, like...  make it worse or something?"

The small dragon shrugged.  Apparently, it did know why.

"I was looking for an art thief.  I don't know how it turned into that or who half of those guys were.  How, exactly, a portal to the Forbidden Zone got disguised as a rare Romanesque tapestry, I have no idea, but I hope the museum has insurance," it declared while looking at the rest of the rubble.

When Kraken suggested the name it got... nervous?  "I mean, not that Liberators is a bad name or anything, but it kind of sounds like a line of adult products?  I mean, uh, not that I've ever bought any, but they're always on the radio with adds for it and stuff."

It gets distracted but then seems to perk up.  "I mean, it's a good theme, though.  How about "The Emancipators"?  Or "The Redeemers"?  Same theme and, uh, less baggage."

Epilogue
The slender female figure wrapped in some sort of body-hugging armor with a helmet somewhat like a space helmet jumps down from what is left of the factory roof and casually walks over to join the others. Inside she seemed to take quite a beating pretty well. As she walks over some small tears in her armor start mending themselves.

Hearing Kraken's comment about genocide she replies in a modified voice from inside her helmet, "You have no idea."

After a moment of quiet reflection she addresses the introductions by others. "The outcome of our actions here is good. And, while I would not normally share my identity other than my pseudonym 'Millenia,' I can see that things bode well to share with you." Her helmet slides away, hiding impossibly in her body-hugging suit, to reveal a pretty brunette. With an unmodified voice she says, "I'm Lily Minkowski."

OOC: Some of you might have heard of her, Lily Minkowski III, daughter to billionaire Lily Minkowski, jr. While her mother isn't seen much these days, she is known to be somewhat like Warren Buffett, but focusing on investing in technology companies. Lilly Minkowski III, her heir, sometimes shows up on eligible heiress lists and a certain charity evens, but isn't in the limelight a lot.

Brian casts a sidelong glance at the woman. The name meant nothing to him.

He interpreted her you have no idea comment as an echo of Drake's comment about Liberators. If he realized it referred to the genocide of the last known community of his species that they just prevented he would have ripped her out of that metal shell like she was covered in Old Bay seasoning.

The Professor's lips draw into a tight line. "Thank you for your trust, Millenia. I hope we will be deserving of it." His gaze swept the others, focused and yet somehow distant. "And of all your secrets as well. You will forgive me for not disclosing anything of myself... I have put considerable resources in remaining untraceable, and everything I reveal of myself makes these protections considerably less... effective."

He gestures down at the costume he's wearing. "I will show you all the respect of not pretending that one of my cover identities is true, and instead invite you to continue referring to me as Professor Phenomenon. It's as real as any of them, at this point."

The dragon... well, how does a dragon "make a face"?  Maybe that's it?

"Aren't The Spleen-Rippers that super team slash metal band that does the reality show?  Those episodes are so fake.  I know a guy that did some stunt work for them and he says that almost all of it is fake.  It'd all be fake, but villains think a fake show like that is an insult and they occasionally get attacked for it.  They have real powers, so they've managed to not die, but that's just because they're attracting C-list villains."

Drake flapped her wings a bit, though it didn't make much difference in her hovering.  "Are you a real professor?  Oh, are you a real doctor?  I mean, both of those take some credentials to make it official, right?  Or is this like how Dr. Dre isn't a real doctor.  Either of him."

"Well I hope you get out of the trunk."  Kara flashed her dazzler of a grin again.  "I'll definitely take you guys' calls, you seem like way less a bunch of prima donnas than my regular team."  An abrupt fwoosh, and a pair of enormous white feathered wings were suddenly present, arching back from her shoulder blades.  She leapt into the air with a WHHUMPH WHHUMPH of her wings, whirling up a small cloud of dust and debris in her wake.  "See ya laters, Liberators," she called back as she took to the sky.

Re: Epilogue
Brian watched as the warrior woman sprouted angel wings and soared away.

"Well that comes in handy, doesn't it?"

He slides phone into his jeans pocket and starts walking towards the motorcycle he parked out of the range of the security cameras before sneaking into the facility.

Where would he go now, he thought. Back to the remains of the family estate? It should have stopped smoldering by now. Might make a good spot for a base, he thought. He'd have to broach that subject later.

"Have fun, fellas."

He mounted his Harley and revved the engine. As he tore off he wondered which of the seafood buffets by the dock he could get into without being recognized. That bestial hunger's a bitch, but he's sealed enough wounds to grow a clone over the past 24 and that protein's gotta come from somewhere.

Afterwards he'd hit one of those darker clubs where they part the velvet rope for him when they see him ride up. It's nice to know that the freaks appreciate their own.

Re: Epilogue
Doctor Wraith watched Valkyrie go for a moment. "The Liberators. I like the sound of that."

He smiled. "Let's go with that: The Liberators. Because, you know, 'The Misfit Toys' is probably under copyright." He grinned, and began fading. His comrades were reminded of The Cheshire Cat, though Wraith didn't leave a smile behind. Then he spoke again, his voice coming out of empty air: "Thanks for what you all did here today, folks. Until we meet again."

"It's very old school. World War II-era. Golden age. I don't know that it suits us, but not much else was suggested." The Professor begins the long walk back to his van.

"I like "Redeemers", personally.  Or Reclaimers.  Or..." it was fiddling with the phone.  "Does this thing have internet?  I need a thesaurus."

"Nah, it's a dumbphone. Only one purpose, bringing us together when we need to get together."
