In reply to Valkyrie's question Lily says, "Yes, I know a fair amount about robotics. Whoever this is, their specialty is somewhat similar to my own area of expertise."

quote:
"How do we know none of those pieces are sending our coordinates to the bad guys as we speak?"

"We don't.  You wanna leave?"

She closed her eyes for a moment, drawing a slow breath.

"That was...  sharper than I'd intended, sorry.  It's been a not great day."

"It's OK, Kara. We'll cut you all the slack you need. And Brian, though you raise an excellent question, the way we know it is that I would be able to see it. One of the happy side effects of taking the dirt nap. These aren't radiating any energy. At least not that I can perceive...hopefully we're not dealing with aliens or something."

He held back a smile as he realized he was already falling into his habit of calling people he barely knew by their first names.

"Good on you to think of it, though. And it is a thing we should consider. If I were looking to wipe out all the supers or even just a certain segment, I'd expect them to gather in the wake of this massacre, and watch for signs of those gatherings. Of course, the Professor may have been so slick no one has any idea our little coterie exists." Now he did smile, and arched an amused eyebrow at Professor Phenomenon.

"Lily, if anyone can tell us what these things were or who made them, it's you. How long do you need?"

Re: 1: RIP Team America
"It would probably take a few days back in Boston. The depth of detail will also determine the time. If we just want some of the basics, not so long. If we wanted to reverse-engineer it, significantly longer. Getting to my private lab and my computers would be pretty critical, though... If you all want to come to Boston, I can fly you all there. My plane is at the airport. There is plenty of room at my place for you to all spend a few nights. But I could call you all easily enough afterward, so it's not necessary to move as a team unless we think they can track the tech and come after me alone. I can take a lot, but the video I saw was pretty horrific."

"I've got some other things to look into," the Professor said. "Looking through the infosphere for any signs that whoever sent these things out is monitoring the media impact of the attacks."

"Well with the DOD being a bunch of pricks, those chips are all I've got to go on.  If they're going to Boston, I'm going with them," Kara states bluntly, though without rancor, regarding Lily with resolute intent.

"I, umm.  I'm not sure I do, really?  They wanted me benched, I sort of...  told them exactly where and how far they could shove that idea, on my way out.  But I'll make a call, sure."

Drake made a face.  "This is totally why I don't do government teams.  They get benefits and stuff, but you're kind of at the beck and call of jerks.  Do you, ah, maybe have a few bits of the stuff that isn't useful?  I could check to see what it's made of and that might give us a lead or two.  Tech that's this high end can't be made of junk copper out of a scrapyard.  Well, probably not."

"Here's a question: How many of us can travel fast without Lily's jet? I ask because I'm thinking about that idea I expressed earlier: If someone is acting against all supers, gathering in one vehicle could make us a tempting and easy target."

"Well, I'm pretty fast. Faster than a commercial plane, though roads kinda slow me down."

"Well, how fast do you think the analysis would be done?  Days, right?  There's no reason we couldn't meet back up there tomorrow and the day after.  I have no desire to fly that far, but I can certainly rent a car."

"I'm going to take a team to Muncie and check out the scene of the crime. I know my science skills might be useful in examining these robot bits, but I can get to Muncie fast and get to Boston just as fast if I'm needed. Plus, we can always do an online consult, or you can call me on your shell phone." He grinned far too wide than was warranted for that last joke.

"I'm sure we can learn something there. I can take the folks who don't need Lily's help with transport, and cover expenses if anyone needs a car or flight. Sonic, how about you come with?"

“I wouldn’t mind a ride to Boston.”

He’d taken the train from Bahlmer. Being cramped in with all those humans people made him uncomfortable. Besides, he had to check up on the Innsmouth clan up in Massachusetts.

"Yeah, I should be able to Google it. Does my phone count as gps? I don't have many pockets on me. I tend to run with just my phone, house keys, and some cash for food."

Doctor Wraith:

"I'm good, I can get around pretty good by myself, plus, no offense, I'm not fond of planes, being so high up with no ground....Nooo thank you."

"Well, you can just run to Muncie, no plane needed. Since there are seven of us and the Professor is doing a sort of overwatch-guy in the chair thing, let's take a third person. Drake, you might be a big asset in either location. Kraken, we might need some extra muscle at the crime scene. Who wants to go where?"

"Your biggest obstacle in Muncie is going to be the authorities," the Professor said. "Muscle isn't going to be as big a help as persuasiveness. Or stealth. Or investigative ability. I'd go, but I have other avenues to pursue."

"Been waiting to use that one for a while, Doc?" Lily cannot help but grin a little - it was corny, but it was still pretty good.

"OK, looks like I've got Valkyrie and Kraken coming with me. I'll give you two a lift to my plane, and we can get underway. Everyone else, if you're coming to Boston, head to 495 Hugh Cargill Rd, Concord, MA." Lily says the last part slowly to make sure everyone records it however they want.

Doctor Wraith nods. "Advice noted, Professor." Turning to Drake, Kraken and Sonic, he says, "I'll see you there. Just get close to the parade route and I'll find you. Good hunting, team." He fades out of sight.

"I'll make that call to Washington to see if I can get their report on the way."  Kara nods her approval of a plan well planned, ready to follow Lily back to her shiny luxury rental.  Another moment of ponderment, then she glances to Doctor P: "I don't suppose you've got a secure Department of Defense email address or something I could get it sent to?  That might make it a bit easier for them to swallow."
