Re: [OOC] The Drinking Hole

So arbiter question are we going to use the gang tactics cards at all? Like pick an X number and say they are 'special abilities' our gangs can us once a match, or once for some of them?

Re: [OOC] The Drinking Hole

Yes. Glad that you brought that up. So there are 305 tactic cards (and counting) which ends up being pretty ridiculous to even try and list out, let alone ask players to say "pick X from this list".

Instead how it will work is as follows:

1) Tactic cards are going to be divided up based on house specific vs. generic cards.

2) When you draw/select, the first card comes from the clan specific deck. (Typically about 15 cards)

3) Second and successive cards can either be drawn from that Clan specific pack OR from a pre-assembled deck of 15 tactic cards. These will include a set of the standard AMAZING tactic cards that pretty much get auto-included anyways. Things like ...Click, Bait and Switch etc.

The reason behind this is because at this point even if I said "pick 12 cards" you could easily pick 12 cards that all just give you extra actions/turns and that defeats the whole purpose of randomly drawing if all your cards do the same.

Thus you'll have a deck of ~30 cards or so to pick some. Some will be better than others but there shouldn't be any complete trash in there.

We'll also need a flame template that works on the simplified grid ! Blast templates aren't hard to figure, but the flame template will need some thoughts.

Re: [OOC] The Drinking Hole

For tactics you should have approved lists ready. The opening scenario is pick 3 so pick 1 from your faction list, 1 from your common list, and 1 from anywhere.

I'm implementing a new Orlock tactic called killing one's whole team. Bad Grimm !

Okay, the idea was elegant: put everyone prone, it will hurt them more than me. Except that some of mine where near pits :/

I need a better way to show pits. You knew where they are but they look so ugly on this particular map :(

Re: [OOC] The Drinking Hole

I've figured out how to do templates. Two styles:

Rough: We have the approximate dimensions of a template

3" = Hits the 4 cardinal directions and hits 1/2 of the time on the diagonals.

5" = Hits +1 squares than the 3", so 2 squares in the cardinal direction, 1 square on the diagonals and 1/2 the time on the 2nd diagonal.

Flamer = this is a little trickier but a rough hit isn't too hard. 8" straight ahead. First 3 squares is only 1" wide, second 5 squares is 2" wide.

This is a good rule of thumb for players to operate off of.

Precise: I have Print & Play templates that I can size based off known dimensions and then I can wiggle it around to account for any questionable placements, like what if you don't hit center of a square etc. I can use this for double checking and precise placements to avoid any questions.

Re: [OOC] The Drinking Hole

I have a strange feeling that the flame template is going to get a workout fairly soon... and possibly not in a pure cardinal direction. Still, knowing it is 8" long I can give origin and end and let you figure the rest out. It's not like my shotgunners get to pace out the terrain with a measuring stick.

Or I could go all out, and actually paste a properly template unto the right part of the map and post that image.

Re: [OOC] The Drinking Hole

Here is a copy you can use. Size it so it is 8" long and that should get you where you need to go.

Yes, so far the score is Walkways 2, Orlock 1, Cultists 0. The walkways are clearly winning the battle :)

Re: [OOC] The Drinking Hole

I think my favorite part of Necromunda is how everything backfires. Weapons immediately jam and run out of ammo, grenades blow up in your face. And good luck opening up a locked door with your dumb-as-rocks scummers!

Re: [OOC] The Drinking Hole

Why do you think I used my leader to do it ? I would have loved to use someone whose actions are less valuable, but I needed every drop of intelligence I could get !

All right, now that the axe murderer has acted, I can act a little more freely :)

Just keep in mind we're going to have to start doing bottle tests from all those dead guys. Luckily this chaos cult has an inherent bonus of "DID YOU THINK IT WOULD BE THAT EASY! THESE CRAZY FUCKERS AREN'T GOING TO BOTTLE OUT ON YOU!"

Re: [OOC] The Drinking Hole

By the way, Arbiter, regarding Squint's attempts at operating a door terminal... you do remember that there is actually a rule for bashing the door with an axe (well, any weapon really, but an axe seems particularly appropriate).

quote:
Closed doors, locked or otherwise, can be targeted by attacks and are automatically hit. All doors have a Toughness of 5 and 4 Wounds; if a door is reduced to 0 Wounds, it is removed from the battlefield.

I am totally not trying to trick you into turning your back while I charge through the southern hallway !

Re: [OOC] The Drinking Hole

Yes there is.

quote:
FORCE DOOR (BASIC): If this fighter is in base contact with a locked door, roll a D6 and add this fighter’s Strength, adding 2 for each friendly fighter that is also in base contact with the door. If the total is 9 or more, the door is opened.

Let's see, with your axe, each blow has a 50% chance of removing two wounds, so you'd need 4 Fight (Basic) actions on average. Whereas you need a 6 to force the door open, 6 Force (Basic) actions on average.
And intelligence... you need a 10 or more on 2d6, that's 1 chance in 6 too, so 6 Access Terminal (Basic) actions.

Yep, locked doors are mean to hive scums. The axe is still your best bet ! At least you have an axe that won't run out of ammo trying to blow the door open !

Re: [OOC] The Drinking Hole

Your odds are off by quite a bit but I guess it depends on the threshold.

For example you have > 50% odds at 4 tries and at 6 tries you are at 2/3rds chance of rolling a '6'. 13 tries gets you to > 90% odds.

Re: [OOC] The Drinking Hole

Well, if Squint tries, I would say his odds are quite good to be dead before the door is open :)
