After placing the pair of her sai to either side of her body, Setsuko settles into a lotus position. Her meditations bring her senses into full focus.

Re:  Dragon Lands-Temple

Setsuko will quietly move to Koko, weary of the samurai's reaction to being awakened but making certain to awaken her. "Lady Tachibana, Koko! Just a few moments ago I thought I saw something but not clearly. Then I waited a moment and thought I heard something moving away us and something moving above. Then all was silence as if it may be gone." she whispers to the samurai after awakening her.

Re:  Dragon Lands-Temple

Koko was quite alert.  She knew that the monk had great senses and trusted them.  Whispering back, "Above?  Wake up Calen, and I will wake up Zok."  She grabbed her sword and went over to Zok waking her up quietly. "Zokiro, there might be something amiss.  Be alert."

Setsuko quickly moves over to the healer and gently shakes him awake, "Wake up Calen, we might be in trouble as I've seen and heard something watching us in the darkness, and we'll need everyone to be ready."

Slowly, the healer gets up and stretches as Zok stands up as well. They both look around, trying to spot anything or see anything that is odd.

Cal looks over at the monk "Which way did it go? Was it above?" He pauses for a moment, trying to hear anything and glances at the others "Get some rest. I will take the last watch alright?"

Zokiro is still groggy from being awakened from a sound sleep, but tries to rouse herself and holds her magic ready until Setsuko can determine the extent of any danger.  "What passes?" she whispers.

"Perhaps it is gone. Get some rest, I will remain awake." The healer looks up and yawns, pressing a hand to his lips. He sits up "If I see something that is not normal, I will awaken you, do not fret. I do hear something above." He takes a small branch, lighting it up from the fire and stands up. The healer takes a few steps in its direction, looking upwards. Just a stone roof-top self made. Nothing seems odd.

"Oh, it's probably nothing then."  She looked at Setsuko with a knowing look.  Her sense aren't great, but she trusts Setsuko.  She pretends to lie down to sleep, but stays alert.  Her hand close to her sword.

All is silent saves the typical sounds of night creatures. Nothng approaches. Cal sits, watching the area. Zok doesn't see or hear anything nor does the others. The healer gently rests a hand over her shoulder "Sleep." His voice is calm and collected as nods his head.

The night goes by unevenfully. Dawn comes, and as everyone wakes up Cal has some food being warmed up over the fire.

"This is most welcome, Calen, thank you," Zokiro says.  She will take out her chosen tea blend to make to add to her morning meal, so she will be in the right frame of mind for her morning meditations on her arcane studies.  "And I am quite pleased we were not set upon by devils or wild beasts.  I hope our hunt today is more fruitful."

In reply to Zokiro Mirumoto (msg # 389):

Koko awoke finding herself clutching her sword.  She went about her morning ritual of putting on her samurai armor.  Heading over, she ate some of Calen's food. "Thank you."  She looked over at the horizon for signs of their target she asked to no one in particular, "Are there any human settlements about?"

Setsuko finishes the last few movements of her morning practice forms before joining the others for breakfast. With a respectful bow she gratefully says, "Thank you for your efforts last night and this wonderful food this morning, Calen Zhai."

"We're near home so if attacked we can retreat." The healer sips his tea and stares into the fire. He stands up, stretching "I don't believe so. May find pockets of people but not sure. And its nothing. I'm no cook, just simple small meals."

Once done, they take care of the fire and ready themselves. Soon they start travelling through the mountains hoping to find what they seek but all they find are cliffs and higher mountains making the area rather treacherous. They are some trees for cover here and there for shade, and good spots to rest. Nothing creeps out. Just typical wilderness animals shooting about, watching them.

"I haven't seen any sign of the creature yet.  I am not sure if she is excellent at hiding, or I am not as good at seeing.  Or if she took a different route entirely.  Though with the beasts of the wild still here, it makes me think she may be elsewhere; I would worry that she would kill animals as easily as she tried to kill people," Zokiro says.

"There is wisdom in that, Lady Tachibana.  We may just have not hit the right trail.  Though I worry that a creature than can climb the walls of the monastery as easily as it did would find this terrain no obstacle.  Let us backtrack, then, and see if there has been any other signs in another direction to follow," Zokiro says.

"So traveling out here served nothing?" The healer rubs his chin "I wonder if there is a way to magically track it so to speak. I cannot but if it is indeed possible..." He looks at them "My apologies if I came across as a bit rude is all. Ment nothing by it. Perhaps we should check out the villages around the temple, and warn them as Zokiro mentioned of course."

"We have many purposes for travelling out here, Calen Zhai. We will continue to try to find this demon creature if we can, but we did also come out to warn the villages nearby the temple, Yes." nodded Setsuko with a smile. "Your apology is much appreciated, times like these create tension between allies." She turns her head, looking back and forth before she finishes speaking, "Besides, I wouldn't be surprised to discover Qing Shan out here somewhere as he too searches for the demon."

"We found no evidence in this direction, but that could only mean we have elimiated one path of travel.  By all means, let us do our duty and warn the villages.  Perhaps they have seen some sign that will make more sense for us, and give us another direction to search," Zokiro says, rising once her tea is finished and preparing her gear for travel once again.

Koko followed along, taking the lead by mounting her horse. "We need to warn the villagers.  There may be other clues there as well."  She did wonder in her head if this was all a wild goose chase.  No matter, her duties as a samurai is protecting the land.  Checking on the welfares of the villagers and getting to know them is part of her duty.
