(IC) Corusant: The Jedi Temple-Medical  Bay

The medical bay sits quietly within the confines of the Jedi Temple. In the center is a large bacta tank currently not being used. Several areas for wounded line the area, some are walled off. Its relatively dim and soothing. Resting near a computer terminal is a clone trooper, its helmet rests at its feet. A blanket lies over him. He is indeed breathing steadly, but is either asleep or in some sort of coma. The dripping sound echoes throughout the area. Drip drip drip. Of course he's attached to a IV. Always good when the medbay is empty.

Sitting near the bacta tank is a young woman. On the table near her is a book and a pen. The screen is dark and she seems to be asleep sprawled over her notes. A medical droid enters going from one area to the next probably doing his rounds. It checks on the trooper and goes over to the sleeping woman and taps her shoulder.

It was a warm planet, a beach and beautiful ocean.  Straight out of a vacation vid.  Ariadne was relaxing in the sand, listening to the movement of the waves, enjoying the warmth... Then, someone tapped on her shoulder.  She tried to ignore it, but the tapping continued...

The young Jedi woke up, shaking her head.  She looked at the medical droid and groaned.  "Oh, fine, I fell asleep.  Thank you for waking me."  Despite other's prejudices, she treated all droids, as she did her non-human patients, with polite care.  One never knew when a droid might need to help, and even droids understood kindness.

She got up, straitening her robes, and moved to check on the clone.  He was breathing well, his life signs looked normal.  She patted his leg, then moved around to check everything else in the medical bay.  She made sure the medicines were in place, that the tools were in place, and everything was neat.  The doctor part of her was meticulous.  The Jedi part, not so much.  She absently patted her lightsaber, then moved to a mirror to check her hair.

Good thing is there is only one patient. Yet that's a bad thing as well to Ariadne. She wants to learn, needs to learn. But the clone trooper seems to be in good shape. The M1 droid follows the Jedi, helping her at times then goes back to its charging station. And the mirror makes her look bad, like a overworked student that needs a break. She stops for a moment as if sensing something and it goes away. Odd.

Now what was that, she wondered, checking the clone again, then moving on to make sure supplies were put where they should.  Yes, she had done that several times already, but it calmed her to do routine.  Her emotions calmed.  She remembered her teachers pointing out that her emotions got the better of her, and yet what was a medic but an empath?

She stopped again, feeling... something.  Was it the Force?  The air system?  Someone new?

She moved to the doorway, looking out into the halls.  She had been taught to answer those things that could not be answered.  And so she listened and closed her eyes, reaching.  She might indeed be an overworked student, but she was still a Jedi.

Strange. The Jedi doesn't feel anything. Perhaps she's not trying hard enough or not close enough. Perhaps she's blocked but she would probably know. And the light illuminated the hall go a bit darker then turn off. And the room she was in is on-probably a backup generator or perhaps the halls lights were somehow turned off.

His scanner array is on the walls as he slowly rolls along the hall......looking for the service port...

Ariadne looked, then turned and walked slowly back into the subdued lighting in the MedBay, which in itself was odd.  She walked by her patient, making sure his equipment was still operable, then moved over to the main computer, keying it to run a check on power to the medical facility.  It was unusual for lights out in the hall, and while this seemed like an electrical failure, why now?  There were no storms.  No strange occurrences.

She closed her eyes again, looking 'beyond,' hoping to sense something.  It bothered her.  She went and got her portable medkit and moved to the hallway again.

The Medical occupant paused.  Was that a droid?  There was no other droid here other than her medical droid.  She pulled out her light sabre and went back to the hallway door.

She looked down the hall and blinked.  "Oh... where did you come from?"  She walked into the hallway, still carrying her weapon, looking down at the droid as she approached.  "Hello little fellow.  Where did yoiu come from?  Are you checking on these stupid lights?  They just went out and I don't know why.  Backups came on in the medbay, and that indicates a power failure, but why?  Can you find out?"

She knew she spent too much time talking to her medical droid, and it carried over to this one.  She didn't know if they understood, but she liked treating them as people.  As they tended the be the only people who were awake and not screaming around her.

Its strange but not unheard of but in the Jedi Temple? It pulls out the servo from the mantienance hatch and beeps a few times. The area lights up once more.

She turned to go back in the Medical Bay.  "The lights went out here too, but the backups kicked in.  Fortunately, I only have one patient so far.  Hopefully, I can reduce that by one very soon.  When he gets better."

She walked over to set her medical bag down.  "Don't mind me.  I talk to paint when I get alone.  Bad habit.  My Master tells me I should spend less time talking to nothing and more time focusing on the Force.  Oh well, habits die hard sometimes."

She looked over her shoulder.  "Come on in if you want.  Just me and my patient here.  I could use the company."

She looks at the droid.  "Could you please see if the power in here is normal or running on backup?  It is unusual for such an occurrence. I know of no storms or spacial events that would have shut down power so suddenly."

It seems it was just a power outage. Nothing odd. Really. Nothing. The astromech searches for the cause of it but doesn't find anything or the location. Interesting. Maybe it was just a random power outage. The entire temple runs on it, bound to happen. From what the droid can tell its the only area with the problem and it looks solved. Least for now.

She went back to checking her supplies... again... and they were still there... again.  Then, she found a cold drink and sat in her chair at her console with a sigh.  She was clearly bored.  And not even the Force was helping her get over it.  She looked at the chronograph and sighed again.

Ariadne wandered back to her console.  "After a night's sleep, he'll hopefully be good as new.  Or at least ready to lay about somewhere else.  Sleeping and resting are the best 'recharge' for humans, and most species.  That is when the most natural 'repair' happens.  I can only do so much repair, the rest is up to the individual and their body."

She sighed and opened her datapad to a reader, and started again on reading her book.  The surprises had interupted that.  And as it stood, everything was stored, no medical emergencies loomed and she could relax for a bit.

She shook her head.  "I never thought of such things as being parallels.  Thank you, RGoO.  My Master is right, the Force works in patterns we don't always see.  Sometime, you and I might want to talk at length.  I imagine there is much we could teach each other."

She laughed.  "Yes, intuition.  It is when the human brain ties together unlinked ideas, sort of, instead of a to b, it becomes a to r, and then an idea occurs.  In your case, it is when you are doing a calculation, but then you deviate into a different calculation, and suddenly then become a single idea.  Two points, not alike, but then they join and a new idea occurs."  She thought a moment.  "It is like a mathmatical puzzle, that when viewed from a distance, rather than close up, suddenly causes a reaction to make a jump to a new resolution."

She had no idea if this made sense.  Could a machine have intuition?  She thought that a highly programmed one could.  She sat, looking at the droid, excited by the idea.

The clone lies upon the bed and twitches a few times, its mouth opens a few times as the Jedi and droid talk. Its hands clench the bed and the eyes opeon slightly. The medical droid slides in, checking the patient.

"Medical analysis. Check. Functional patient has awoken. Blood pressure is low but stable. Heart is intact and functioning per peramiters. Do you need further assistance?"

Tilting his head, the clone opens his mouth and closes it.

The medical droid leaves the room and shortly afterwards comes in with water. It pulls out a odd straw and enters it into the clones mouth. And the clone seems to relax but his hand twitch a few times. The MD checks his various wounds carefully, and turns towards the Jedi "He has awoken but in need of inabilitated what you believe is rest. Vital sighs are positive." It looks down at the astromech "MD-20531. Are you in need of oil cleanse and what is known as a partial limb and torso establishment of proper disagonistics and what is call a bath? Seems like he needs rest and recovery and the clones either die in battle, are fine or get brought in and require little aid. But in this case, seems like he has internal issues being taken care of.
