You arrive at Regent Aldrege's home and seat of power around noon.  He has invited you to dine as he explains in more detail the directives you are to follow and the goals you are to achieve.

To those more accustomed to larger cities, the building itself is of modest size, even more so once you learn that his administrative offices are here as well.  However, it is pleasant and ornate, with many local motifs displayed in the architecture and artwork.  Patterns of triangles in red, black, and yellow criss-cross the columns and the floor.  Stylized blossoms of magillin trees and other local crops stand out against the parallel earth tones of the woven tapestries.  Canthus is an oasis in the desert, and the imaginations of its people have internalized this.

A lone servant, a woman in her mid-fifties, greets you as you arrive and directs you to a walled garden area, where a modest feast awaits you beneath canvas awnings hanging limply under the mid-day sun.
