Alright so I'm not sure how this should work, but I want Derrick to 'Draw the Attack' of the arms on its next action.

Basically, just describe an action you think would draw the attack.  For this creature, it's an automatic success (unless you do something so silly it couldn't possibly work).

I'd like some feedback on an idea:

I'd like to skip ahead in the prelude to the point that Regent Aldrege meets with the group to review the mission objectives, special equipment, etc.  After that meeting, we can skip to the part where the group leaves for the Shimmering Veil.  I would summarize the outcomes of the building of the cart and recovery of the aneen.

Does anyone have anything they wanted to have their characters do before or in addition to the above scenes?

A jump forward sounds like a good idea.

So for the purposes of equipment, are you thinking like camping basics? There are a lot of things that in my mind Derrick would already have from the trip to Canthus that aren't included in character creation.

You are going out exploring an unknown area.  Aldrege has prepped for some of these needs.  If you want to wait until after the meeting to submit the list, just say so in character.

Also, you can arrive singly or in one or more groups as you see fit.  Whatever makes the most sense in character.
