Subaltern Bastien Durand of the Royal Normandy Marines bought the rank of Captain and the horse to go with it.

Smallpox is still rampaging. This month Jean-Marie, son of Dûc Quentin de Oudenborch, were among its victims.

Week 1
Monsieur Huillaume Plessy joined the 2nd Frontier Regiment (Flanders), eager to reach the front. M. Dragos joined the 13th Burgundy Fusileers and bought the rank of Major.

Week 2
Mll Boulle was seen visiting the shylocks. From what we have heard she bought shares in the inn Auberge du vieux monde.

Week 3
M. Arsenault also joined the 13th Burgundy Fusileers, buying the rank of Captain. Mlle Boulle was seen carousing at Scudery's.

Week 4
Mlle Boulle attended church service at the Cathedral de Notre-Dame.

NEWS FROM THE FRONT
What was supposed to be a month of easy mop-up operations quickly turned into fierce fighting as the Hugenot leader, le duc Henri II de Rohan, counter attacked. French casualties were heavy.
Captain Durand of the Royal Normandy Marines received a pat on the back. He personally commandeered several succesful attacks, driving parts of the enemy units off the field. Unfortunately his regiment and battalion commanders made several grave mistakes.

Mentions in Despatches
Major Lebeau of the Dragoon Guards was mentioned for bravery. He is designated to be knighted on his return to Paris.

Promotions
Dragoon Guards Major Lebeau was promoted to Brevet Lieutenant-Colonel and acting regiment commander.
Royal Normandy Marines Captain Durand was promoted to Major.
27th Aquitaine Musketeers Major Beau Geste outshone his superiors (who unfortunately were killed in action) and was promoted to Lieutenant-Colonel and acting regiment commander.
