I'll assume that other than a few putting their foot in the stream, you have no serious issues getting out of there.
You make last evening camp ground safely if a bit wet ... A huge cloud of smoe sweeps up from the south, heading NNE ... Numerous people struggling through the area to your south, only a few come up as far as where you are, but are put off by the width of the creek excepting one small person who slides down the bank and flounders across with several men in pursuit. They all but run into you as they continue to run.
