Kory takes pistol to Ursula <red>"Could you fix this hun?"<red>

Ursula looks it over carefully shaking her head ... It's way beyond making horse shoes Kory, even with the tool chest, it's not something I could do...

Kory nods and says, "Well even broke it should still be worth something. I'll store it for later. We already got too many people sharing our little secret." as he returns the pieces to the bundle.

By that evening, the gates are open (until Dark anyway) and new soldiers wander the streets. But business doesn't pick up much.

After placing his bundle , in his hidden stash, Kory decides to leave the tavern and take a stroll through town. Though walking leisurely, he don have a purpose, that is find out, why even with the influx of potential customers, why business hasn't picked up. So with his ears open, he enjoys the Catheran twilight.

And you find out, an Inn called the Tapped Pony (with a tapped pony keg pouring out beer that a tired pony is drinking on their sign), is doing a Booming business. A quick look inside shows plenty of ladies working here ... and Asha overseeing things. And Quinlan is standing beside her talking.

He wasn't sure what caused the vein in head, to bugle more seeing Asha or seeing Quinlan talking to her. his first instinct was to burn the place down and let Quinlan and Asha enjoy each others company in the afterlife.


So two women he saved were fucking him in public. He though about slipping into the shadows and watching them, he thought about walking in on them, and demanding to know what was going on, in the end he decided to slip into the shadows and return home.


'Traitor' was his only thought as he returned home.

Eve comes to sit by him.... we have a problem, and I fear it will get worse, one of the girls has jumped ship and several others are talking ... the new place offer s all the same benefits plus a bigger cut of the profits.  None will tell me who is doing this ... but they apparently have also cut prices a little and serve cheap small beer rather freely.

"I saw. I ain't going to force them to stay. If they want to go I'll let them, I didn't get into all this, with the intent of being anyone's slave owner.

I was trying to starts a family and protect my kin. So if they want to leave, let them."  Kory said as he sipped his beer grumpily.

Sighing he said, <red>"Grow to soft anyway, laying here in a town with beautiful women serving me. I might hit the road, if they go.

Besides I can't bear the sight of traitors, if I stayed here and stewed on it, I might..." he shook his head, he didn't want to utter the words.

For now, he would sit and watch and see how things played out.

Well I'll go with you... may not follow the business anymore, you'll just have to handle my needs, but you won't go alone. Eve says, as she puts a hand on his.

Kory placed his other hand on top of Eve's, inhaled and relaxed a bit. "Means a lot babe." and leaned his head against Eve.

Gradually the tension in is body began to relax, and he no longer had to keep as tight a reign on himself, to hold in the anger.

Finally smiling he said, "You know I got you, your family."

Ya, I like that ... and not all the girls wanna go ... but they'd like ta get outa whorin' I think. Eve replies

Eve smiles Melinda said no way she's skipping out, and they weren't even interested in Ursula who didn't much care as she wasn't much inclined to leave. They offered Quinlan, Melinda and Inola a very much better deal than what they offered me or Gail; Gail's thinking about it, and they aren't sure how well her style will work ... we both can answer that. If she works out well, she'll get upped to something closer to what the big draws get. They wanted me for my healing skills but offered maids wages.  Melinda says her sixth sense had bad vibes ... but she too wants out of whoring for money. Maybe it's time we cleared this place and looked elsewhere for a new life. You talked about going back to mercenary ... I can doctor, Ursula can fix stuff and Melinda can cook as well as hold her own in a fight. What do you think?

"I think it would be fun. Only stayed here in town as long as I did for the girls. Just hurts they would a few coins tempt them. Makes me wonder why I wasted all this time here."

"If you think the money's worth it, you should do what you think is best for you, I won't have it said that I don't know when to let go and if you think its best for you to stay with me I'll gladly have you." Kory said.

I will be damned if I will be paid like hired help, You have been far more generous and I expect the girls will learn what safety you gave them the hard way.  Melinda will not even entertain their offers and Ursula feels insulted.  We can easily peddle a gun or two and get a wagon for our things. Let us go do other things elsewhere. Eve responded while gripping Kory's hand.

Kory smiled, think perhaps all this time he spent in Catheran had not been a total waste.<red>"Good to hear hun, was never much into the pimp thing anyways, was just trying to keep them girls safe. But before we go we'll stay and watch and see how things turn out. Once all those that are leaving have their say, we'll pack up."

It takes a while, Neither Inola nor Quinlan choose to face you, they just disappear, their things gone in the morning, you are surprised at how silently they did it with no one hearing them ... but a window sill provides an answer as to how.

Gail is different, she comes and confesses her wish to try this new job.... she appreciates all you have done for her and doesn't want to leave on bad terms. She really wants your blessings to go...

"I am not sure you'd call it a blessing, but, I try to keep anyone who doesn't want to stay. I am not sure if I wish you well or not, but I know I don't wish you all any harm. That's the best I can give you right now." He said honestly.

<red>"Bye"<red> Kory said turning his back, on Gail and waved his hand as he left and head home to pack his stuff, not even looking at her.

Three he trusted betrayed him and now where dead to him.

Best he left tonight before he could dwell on the thought of making 4 dead in reality.

He wished D'Aasard luck, and hoped he burned the city to the ground after he left.

It is about two hours later, just before the Tavern opens that Asha walks in with two large guards behind her, she motions them to stay by the door and walks to where Kory is. I am not your enemy, Kory, Can't say as I approve of how those two girls ran off, But I came to ask if we could work together.

Kory just stated at Asha for a long moment before he spoke "It's not your fault, the bit the hand that fed them.

But as I told you before I already got my bottom bitch. I ain't look for any more partner's.

Simple fact is I don't trust nor like you, and regret not tossing you out the window when I found you, half dead, finishing the job.

You need not have brought guards, unless your looking for a fight; then you didn't bring enough.

You can go, I don't like trash I tossed out, coming back in my home." he said placing his hand on the hilt of his long knife.

Asha's face hardens... I am NOT trash, yours or anyone else's and I didn't come to beg a job from you, I came to offer you one finding women who are attractive and inclined to work in the business for a while.  If you don't want it, no problems, I can find someone, but you were better than most men and took care of your women, I liked that. That you can't compete with what I offer? that's just the breaks.

<red>"Why you still here? I won't do business with you take what you got and leave. Unless you like abuse?" Kory said raising an eyebrow.

Asha shrugs, turns and walks out followed by her two goons.

Gail stands and says Maybe you should have been more agreeable, she is going to own this town soon  and leaves.

Eve sits down beside you  ... she may, but that doesn't mean you would want to work with her, she is pretty ruthless it seems.

"I don't mind ruthless, when its working for me. But I ain't looking for no partners; I already have my queen " he said looking at Eve.

<red>"Guess that would make Ursula my night and Melinda the princess, but there ain't no princesses in chess is there. This all came up all of a sudden,  but I guess well pack the wagon explore the world, maybe be merchants...

Your good with medicine, Ursula metal and Melinda the wagon. Let D'astard and the other traitor keep this place, well leave in the morning." <red> he finished with a determined look.

I think it's a good plan, we can tag along with the Duke's army which may well need all of our services. Eve replied
