He smiles It would if I were to recall that ...  But since I have never seen anything to bear out these claims ... But be ready, for if or when the Count finds  out that he has been mislead, he will come looking for heads.

Re: Off on a Mission

All true, But the Count is a very vindictive man and I expect Fauntleroy to have all sorts of reasons to deflect his anger. It may not work, but never underestimate the mans cunning. Further, any sign of your men around, will have everyone blaming you instantly for everything. I do mean everything too, that the Lord's daughter is pregnant out of wedlock will surely be your doing.

Well hundreds of men building fortifications around Small Harbor is not low profile, although without the recruiters, a big source of his information is disrupted, at least until the spies start to go to Zila to report in..

The new commander sees no reason to be secretive, he has 500 troops available and a good position, let them come.

In reply to Finger of Fate (msg # 954):

I will inform the commander that he will loose twice that number assaulting a well fortified city. If he is secretive, then he has a chance to catch the Count outside of the city. I inform him of the other enemy camp.

I ask the foolish commander what drive weapons he has, and how many men the local count has. If he is too foolish to listen, then I will depart with the boats and go and inform his superiors of his foolishness. Have the boats retired with more men?

Re: Off on a Mission

Did you send the Boats back for more?

The Commander obviously hasn't listened well and does not understand the situation (I keep rolling low for his reaction).
You and a couple of the earlier leaders start trying to get him to grasp the situation and eventually it seems to sink in.

Looks like you mentioned sending them back with a request for more Light infantry in Message 869.

Don't know who you wanted to captain yours, so only 5 boats went and returned with 50 more light infantry and 200 more medium, plus a few more leader types.

We'll say you now have 100 Lights and 750 medium infantry. Amongst the Light troops you now have 45 missile troops (bow or crossbow). The rest have slings or javelins along with a sword and light shield.

Re: Off on a Mission

In reply to Finger of Fate (msg # 956):

Right. We are probably going to need seige engineers and logistics. I also want to send word about our friends, and we will need some logistics and rangers for spy's.

While the boats are gathering that, and mine is catching fish, we will try to determine the results input the news Frumps men found...

Who is Grump?

What are you sending back to Nardath in terms of Boats and requests?
If your boat is going out, who is acting as captain?

Frump. Damn phone autocorrect...need to work out how to turn it off and leave the auto suggest on!

With my boat, wasn't some of them fishermen? Any of them have experience in being a fishing boat captain?

The rest of the boats to go back and bring siege engineers and rangers, half and half, to begin construction of drive equipment.

Yes, they were crew, none have ever captained a boat, just followed orders.

OK, Drive equipment has me stumped...  I am guessing siege equipment?

The 5 boats leave.

In reply to Mustafa Zephyr (msg # 959):

Yep, seige equipment. Do not know how autocorrect got that one. Computers will NEVER take over the world...thinking of ballistas and anti- trebuchet stuff for defences... initially.

With the boats off, sending out spy's to find out what is happening is next. Perhaps some local girls/women who will not be recruited?

Re: Off on a Mission

Old women maybe... girls or young women would be a very bad plan. Even old women do not travel alone. However in the city, they could probably move easier than most anyone.

Your Phone has obviously made it's mind up. Siege means 'drive' to it, strange as that may seem.
Not sure what an Anti-trebuchet weapon would be... Ballistas are known and used. but ed places, they still rely on systems that would not seem strange to a roman soldier.

Damn friggin phone...back on computer for now...edited!

Usually the best weapon to deal with a trebuchet is another one, that can be turned.

We will look further into sorting out spies...any news of changes or activities?

In reply to Finger of Fate (msg # 964):

Right. Keep a low profile then, and watch and wait. Work hard to provide as much food as possible, in case the men later will be too active to do so. Also work to assist the local populace, but not visibly. Ie, work out of sight. Work on developing the spy network, by helping little old ladies, and generally making ourselves liked.

Re: Off on a Mission

You slowly start to get some feed back. The Count seems to be gathering a force as does Frump. Fauntleroy seems to have caught wind and is both begging off and preparing to fight.
Snidely's son just smiles and says he prefers to stay out of it, but soon says he has been told to gather troops to aid the Count.

That would suggest that there are more recruiters around. This time we will don uniforms belonging to Fauntleroy and use them to capture more recruiters. We should get plenty of warning, and we will target both Frumps men and the Counts...

Re: Off on a Mission

You are Mistaken, There are no recruiters, there are messengers from the Count ordering his vassal lords to gather forces to support him.

Can't remember if we named the boy, but he is to raise 150 men and join the Counts growing Army in two weeks.
