With your less ostentatious clothes, you are able to blend in and go back to some of your old hideouts to recover 'Valuables".

And he will do so, but carefully.  Not everything at once in case someone tries to mug him.

Makes sense...  you cautiously explore your old haunts, nothing seems to have changed except there is food and people seem a lot less up tight. Any place in particular you go?

He'll hit up several of the town squares that have wells.  Both because he can get paid for making music and they are good places to listen in on the gossip/news getting talked about.  And he's got a thought for the next day, but that is still building in his mind.

You acquire some 16 coppers from playing and learn that everyone is happy the Duke is back ...  you hear two thugs whispering about robbing a merchant in the morning... and note that the guards are much more lenient now. You make it back in time for an early supper.

He'll pass on what he heard about how people feel about the Duke being back.  He will not pass on the news about the possible robbery of a merchant.

OK, Still clinging to the dark side ;-)

They suggest you clean up and change for dinner...  the news is welcome and the steady flow of people in and out going to the office makes it clear that the Duke is busy...

He's a runt, not a rat!  :-))

He'll get cleaned up and changed.  And also be thinking about where he can hide his stash.

Mainly his coinage and the gems he found.  He'd go for several different places, that way if any are found he won't loose it all.

You find a designed in hidy-hole behind the chair rail in your bedroom. It will hold it all ... and you can look for other spots, although this one was none too obvious.

He'll keep looking (it's interesting to him and you never know what he might find hidden away) and while he will put most of his valuables in this one, he will still spread a few out to others.

He doesn't find any more in his room.

He and Leesha are called to dinner with the Duke and Duchess.
He hears some bits about how the war progresses, which seems to be good.

And after dinner he is again invited to play, and Leesha to sing, which surprises him, as she proves to be pretty good!

That's something good.  Now he's got someone who can possibly sing duets with him or sing while he accompanies (it's hard to sing and play the flute at the same time).

And your performance again brings servants to stand in the hall three deep... Leesha is quite pleased and says as much on your way up to bed.

Come morning, it's much the same as they day before, except you wear the commoner clothing and head outside around Mid Morning. Where do you go?

He'll start off like normal, going around to some of his usual places and playing/singing (and of course listening to what is being said).  But he is going to make sure and at some point head to one of the "guild" taverns.  He hasn't had contact with them for a bit and he needs to drop off what he owes them (at least in his mind).  The amount is somewhat scattered over multiple notes at the moment, but his 1/4 should be a nice amount when you consider the gemstones (which he has no real idea how much they are worth).

He should probably just hang on to those util he gets them assessed... he likely knows folks who will do that for him, for a fee...

The rest will indeed be welcome and his membership will be brought current.
Not much news of interest, in fact he has heard more about the wars progress than they have, and his information is more current and more accurate.

He'll wait around for someone who can (relatively) give him an honest valuation.  In the mean time he would pass on basic news that he heard.  Otherwise, listen!

The news you pass on is of great interest, but everyone you tell wants to know where you heard it. When you tell them from the Duke, you get a lot of laughter and rebuke.

You do go by a shop you have helped (and vice versa) and they guesstimate there worth... The jeweler wants to know where you got them... but estimates they could be worth as much as 542 Gold to the right person, of course finding someone like that right now is exceptionally unlikely. But the stones are very valuable ... he keep s a small one as payment for his work.

As for listening, you don't hear a lot, but a merchant was killed in a botched hold up and many want to know who did it... the merchant was popular and known for his generosity to those in hard times...  in fact, he was one who had helped you as well.

He'll just shrug and smile.  He knows where his info came from.

He of course won't tell where exactly he got them, just that he found them.  But he'll thank the jeweler for his help and keep the amount in mind (boy, for him that's more than a fortune).

He'll try to remember what the ones he had overheard planning a robbery.  If he happens to see someone high enough in the guild he'll very quietly pass along what he heard and the description.

Re: The upbringing of Master Runt

Actually anything close to 542 Gold is indeed a fortune...  remember a Gold (one) is worth $200 ... this guy just told you that you were carrying $108,400 around with you...

You remember the men talking about the robbery pretty well, no names but a very good description. The Guild appreciates the information.

Re: The upbringing of Master Runt

He knows that it is a fortune, but it is so much more than he has ever experienced that he really doesn't conceive how much it actually is.  To him, 542 silver is a fortune.

He'll hang around for a while longer in case there is something interesting and then carefully head back.

Re: The upbringing of Master Runt

By the time you get back, they are looking for you out of concern... you missed lunch and it is time to clean up for supper.  At supper you are asked to let folks know where you are going and how long you'll be away.
Leesha is going out with you less and less as she learns to be a lady ... she is starting to change from the little girl you knew. She wears proper clothes almost all the time and is beginning to show you up in classes.

He will apologize for that and will try to remember to do better (ha ha).  As to classes, he's not to worried that Leesha is better than he is, he knew that she was smarter than him in lots of stuff.  But he will work harder so as not to be too far behind.

Your efforts are soon noticed ... Not ready to be shown up by the young lady, Runt?

The word seems to get around that you have some in with the Duke. Folks don't talk as freely around you, but sometimes they are quick to key you onto some issue. Asha , this mistress of the big saloon seems to seek your company, both to tell you things and to ask you things. Some seem kind of odd, while others are very logical and calculated. You also get an eye full of how girls are built, as Asha isn't very modest.

He'll shrug at the comment.  "I knows that Leesha is lots smarter than me, but I just don't want to look dumb."

That was bound to happen.  If nothing else his coming and going from the seized house would be noticed.  He'll pass on what people seem to want to be passed on and still, someone might let something interesting drop (and then he'll decide if it's important enough to pass on).  He will make sure that the guild knows that he is no rat and doesn't talk to the Duke about them and won't talk to them what he hears from the Duke (unless it's something the Duke want's passed on).  As to Asha, he'll talk with her, but he's still a bit young to appreciate her attributes so to speak.

Re: The upbringing of Master Runt

The guild smiles and thanks you, but still keeps you out of some meetings.

The Duke nods when you tell him and Thanks you. He asks that you keep your eyes and ears open for him.

Asha isn't trying to show off, she is just being Asha... however she does ask that you keep her informed and is a reliable source of a coin or two if you give her useful information.

The teacher waves his finger at you and says,  No, she is not smarter than you are, she has her talents and things she excels at, just as you do. You will never wear a dress as well as she does, but does it matter? She sings well, but does not have your great skill with instruments. Both of you are talented individuals, but you are by no means the same .

If you'd like to create another Character, you can, as I suspect Runt is sort of a dead end, whether he stays with the Duke or slips away to the street life again.
