Asur looks at Rory incredulously.
The INN is what you’re concerned about? Not the dogs? Or, you know, the people?

Asur brandishes his stout walking stick and takes a running whack at the goblin closest to Vano.

Asur takes a Move Action to K 24
Asur takes a main action to attack the goblin with his quarterstaff
Asur rolled 7, 1 using 1d20-1, 1d6-1. Taking a whack at the Goblin.

Vano tries to shake off the lingering haziness of the spell as he spins around to deal with the second goblin attacking him. His left boot slips in goblin blood and his attacks flail a bit wildly as he tries to lash out with both weapons.

Vano rolled 7,4(natural 1) using 1d20+4,1d20+3.  full attack on goblin.

Rory moves in range of the goblin and TRIES to attacks again.

Move to O21
Rory rolled 4 using 1d20+3 (Natural 1).  Attack with bladed scarf.

The Man Behind The Curtain:
The sound of distant goblin scream works is audible as far north as the Cathedral, and Nova wines at the noise.  Father Zantus, picking up on the dog's anxiety, nods.  "Master druid, I fear they will need aid.  I will attempt to heal them, but it may not be enough.  Will you and your companion join us?"

Lost in alertness of the environment and yet not used to company of the talking variety, Jensox startles at the Father's voice. He cocks his head slightly and  listens to the sounds of the combat filtering into the square, waits just a pause too long, and then responds.

"Uhh, 'spec-fully, Father, I'm not a-thinkin' it's our 'iends what 'eed aiding. A-sides, tha' black-dart fella 'ure looked capable. Me 'n 'ova are 'ust here 'bout our woods, 'n the sheriff said 'ust 'ang around until t'morrow, so's I's not gonna run a'ways from no gerbl'ns, now, bu' I don't make a 'abit of chasin' trouble, you know?"

Re: [Book 1.1] - Festival and Fire

Vano, Rory, and Asur all swing valiantly at the goblins, but the goblins all seem to be blessed with supernatural luck and manage to duck every blow aimed at their tiny, cackling forms.

In retaliation the northernmost goblin swings again at Vano with its tiny razor, and manages to connect, drawing a shallow cut along the swashbuckler's ribs.  The chanter tries one more time to ensnare Rory's feet in its whip, but again fails to find purchase on the agile dancer.  Snarling in frustration the chanter drops its whip and pulls out a knife of its own before closing in amongst the gyrations of Rory's swirling scarf.

Father Zantus listens to Jensox's speech impassively, then shakes his head.  "I understand the desire for peace, although if events are in motion I fear your woods may not remain the refuge they once were.  Desna be with you."  And with that, the priest starts jogging south, towards the sound of conflict.

Re: [Book 1.1] - Festival and Fire

Asur and Vano continue in vain trying to attack the northernmost goblin; despite their fancy footwork, trapping it neatly between the two of them, the tiny creature remains elusive and their strikes find only empty air.

The goblin with the whip, however, is not so lucky.  It closes with Rory, and she pivots to the side, continuing her dance and trailing the length of her scarf in her wake.  The goblin is obviously not expecting this maneuver and fails to dodge out of the way.  By the time Rory stops moving the goblin lies bleeding to death on the ground, its face and neck slashed with multiple shallow cuts.

The lone remaining goblin, realizing it is outmatched, gives a tiny shriek of terror and sprints away from Asur and Vano.  The two warriors attempt one more time to bring it down, but the elusive creature holds onto its last bit of luck and their blows once again fail to find its gray flesh.

Re: [Book 1.1] - Festival and Fire

Vano charges after the fleeing goblin, and with the tiny creature's back turned it is unable to duck out of the way of his scimitar.  The goblin drops without any further fuss just as Rory arrives at Vano's side.

Moving towards the south, Asur puts one thin shoulder against the heavy oak doors and pushes.  The doors are incredibly bulky, but the hinges have been well maintained and they open slowly and silently to reveal another battle.

The scene below shows a small band of goblins in the inn's courtyard.  In the middle of the entrance path, an armored goblin stands next to a riding dog, a halbred in his tiny hands.  A large hunting dog stands snarling on the goblin's other side, fangs bared and ready to attack the small creature.  On the east side of the path stands another trio of goblins wielding the same small knives the group has become accustomed to seeing and cowering from the horrific image of the snarling hound.

And finally, closer to the inn, Asur can make out a human man wearing a fine set of clothing taking cover from the goblins behind a small stone bench.

As Asur watches, the armored goblin whirls his halbred above his head before bringing it clashing down onto the hunting dog, severing its head with a single blow.  The other goblins cheer and the finely dressed-man screams.  For a single moment, there is no attention directed northward.

Asur is incensed at the cruelty exhibited by the Gerblins towards the dogs of the town, and runs forward with tears in his eyes brandishing his quarterstaff.  Unfortunately his emotional state makes his aim poor, and he whifs above the little creature’s head.

Asur moves to O-14.  Asur takes a whack at the goblin. 5.

Re: [Book 1.1] - Festival and Fire

Asur and Vano move to flank one of the goblins; even caught by surprise, the small creature's armor helps ward off the blows aimed at it, and both of their strikes fail to find purchase.

The other two goblins move north to help their small friend, and they slide into place on either side of Asur and Vano.  All three of the horrible fiends strike out, and one of them scores Vano along the ribs, opening another cut on the warrior.  The armored goblin to the south gives the cowering human a glare, then stows the halbred on his back before hopping aside the riding dog and drawing his bow.  As the goblin settles himself, he shakes his head as if freeing himself from some sort of external influence, and his movements become slightly more deliberate.

And silently, taking pains not to draw any attention to himself, the elderly figure of Alabaster Zantus comes walking down the path.

Re: [Book 1.1] - Festival and Fire

Rory moves forward under the bridge and tries to take out one of the goblins with her bladed scarf, but fails to connect.  Asur takes a careful step to place him next to Vano, then channels a fistful of positive energy.  The nearby goblin takes a swing while he's momentarily distracted, but the tiny creature fails to land a blow on the cleric.  Vano, in a flashing ring of steel, slays first one of the goblins next to him with a swipe from his scimitar, then turns and lays the other creature out with his razor.

With one goblin still providing a screen, the mounted archer circles around down south and launches an arrow at Vano.  Despite the jostling of his mount destabilizing his aim, the arrow scores a hit on the freshly healed warrior.  The last goblin on foot closes with Rory and slashes her with his knife.

Seeing Rory injured, father Zantus walks up behind her, summoning positive energy in a fashion similar to Asur.  "Be at peace, child.  Desna will see us through."
