Hey all, I wanted to give you a quick heads up while we’re still working on finalizing things - the AP is going to wrap up at level 16, *maybe* 17.  So please don’t plan out a build that only comes together at level 20.  :)

Question for everyone on how to handle battle maps.  I am working on roll20 to get maps setup, primarily because it lets me easily manage what is actually visible to everyone through Fog Of War.  My plan was to screenshot the maps and embed them in the forum posts.  Unfortunately I'm running into headaches getting the actual map saved for use.  If I zoom out far enough for the whole thing to be visible, this is what I see:

Is that too zoomed out for everyone, or will that work?  There are some maps later in the AP that are even larger, which may necessitate some additional finagling.  I would prefer to avoid making everyone register for roll20 as well just to get maps to work; I'm also looking into scrolling screencap plugins to see if I can get it to work a bit better.

Thoughts?

Hey Chris, do you want us to indicate/communicate what spells we have prepared each day? Should we update our character sheet each in-game day?

On one hand I'm not sure you should know what spells we've prepped, less it influence your behavior or plans. On the other hand, there should be some accounting so that we can't just cast whatever and claim it was prepared. Thoughts?

As a note to everyone - Kemp has taken a Vow of Poverty with Asur.  This means he cannot collect/benefit from any material possessions with any significant value, including magic items.  Instead he gets a bunch of benefits from Saranae to basically balance out most of the defenses and keep him from being instant road-kill before hitting level 3.

However, this doesn't mean the rest of you get a larger cut of the loot.  The overall loot remains  the same, but his share gets allocated towards worthy causes of his choosing.

Also, if any of you need him to cast Restoration or anything, it means you'll need to supply your own diamonds, so keep that in mind :)

You did not crit (The goblin's AC is bad while prone, but it's higher than 7).  But he's prone, so he has no Dex bonus, so you do get Sneak attack.

Does prone remove the Dex bonus in 3.5? We were trying to determine that and the best we could find is that prone gives -4 to AC vs melee, +4 AC vs ranged, no effect on Dex bonus and therefore no sneak attack

I will think about the Prone houserule, it literally doesn’t matter in this instance since he’s dead in either case.

Also, and again it doesn’t matter in this case, on a Critical Hit you roll the die twice and double your modifier.  You don’t just straight double the first roll.

FYI - It really doesn't matter at this point with all the enemies dead, but I don't see a way for Rory to move as far as Q10 even with a double move.  Diagonal movement counts for alternating 5 and 10 feet of your movement speed, so with a base speed of 30 I see her ending up a few squares short of there.

Re: OOC - Rules, Tactics, and Gameplay Discussions

Hey, we should have an OOC discussion about the loot from those first goblin fights.  Here's what we got:

1 light blue magical potion
30 gp
2 sets of studded leather armor (small)
2 small shortbows
40 small arrows
1 small whip
1 Masterwork Horsechopper (aka Small Halbred)

The 30gp splits 4 ways as 7gp, 5sp per character. What do we want to do with the rest of the equipment? Anyone have a use for any of it? Sean, you had Vano keep the horsechopper, do you want it? I have no problem letting you have it, fwiw. Certainly none of us are small, so I don't see a lot of use for the armor, bows, arrows, and whip. Should one of us just sell it all this morning (in-game morning, of course)?

I rolled a 15 to identify the blue potion, did anyone else try? Chris, was that enough?

Re: OOC - Rules, Tactics, and Gameplay Discussions

Part of it comes down to how Chris wants to handle loot. I was under the impression that most of that stuff got left behind so I don't know if we can sell it. Vano isn't very strong, just the extra weight from the horsechopper was giving him penalties so he didn't grab anything else.

Vano definitely took the horsechopper with the intent to sell it for himself. He likes you guys well enough, but doesn't consider the group a "party" yet. Especially since the druid wasn't present for most of the fighting. Rory convinced him to let her have a portion of the money from the sale if she can negotiate a better price. She also took the 30gp, gave a little to Father Zanthus and kept most of it. Asur literally can't take any loot to the best of my knowledge. Though if Asur asked vano to donate part of the sale to the church, he would do it for Asur's sake.

I definitely intend to split up the loot equally from future encounters once we are a bit more cohesive.

So Kemp can post more detail, but from my knowledge Asur absolutely still gets a cut of everything, gp and items, and VoP makes him sell/donate it all. We do not get to split things one share less just because of VoP. Sucks :-P

Chris, any comments on the loot as Sean brought up? I would agree with the encumbrance argument if we weren't directly in town; I would hope that we could kind of hand wave "oh we left the stuff at the inn and we can go back to get it to sell."

Re: OOC - Rules, Tactics, and Gameplay Discussions

As long as you’re in town, you can assume you unload all non-magic stuff easily enough. Magic items will
be harder, as nobody in Sandpoint has a large enough cash reserve to buy anything crazy expensive.

Asur is in fact required to donate his share of the treasure.  I’m not worried about it until you start finding significant loot.

And as for the potion, a 15 is fine - DC is 10 + caster level.  It is a potion of Cure Light Wounds.

In that case, I'm good with saying the 2 sets of studded leather armor (small), 2 small shortbows, 40 small arrows, and 1 small whip get sold and splitting the money three ways between Vano, Rory, and Jensox.

Since Vano and Rory already came to an agreement in character regarding the horsechopper I plan to stick with that.
