Re: Group 1 OOC

So which is it? Back to the upper level or into the watery cavern?

Falis, too, needs a bath.  But her rubber duckies are back where she lived before being carted off to the arenas!

Re: Group 1 OOC

I think the vote is to go into the water and check out the cavern. I suppose we can leave our NPCs now at the top and they can let us down/help us climb back up?

Sorry I've been quiet, life's crazy at the moment.  I'm happy exploring the cavern. I also like Arrador's idea; Konrad really doesn't want to be trapped at the bottom of a giant wet hole for the rest of his life.

Hey guys, my father-in-law suddenly passed away over the holidays. I hope to be back sometime next week, if possible.

Re: Group 1 OOC

Well..  The open door mechanic does not work like that, you don't add anything to the die roll.

roll a 1d6  a roll of 1-2 the door open.  You add your STR bonus to the target, not the roll.

So for Falis, the door opens on a roll of 1,2,3 or 4 (1,2+2)

I suppose it could be a 1d6-2 roll vs a Target of 2

In any case, the door will yield to Falis' efforts.

Really?  Because I'm seeing on page 44 of the Labyrinth Lord book that you do add your Strength adjustments...

Labyrinth Lord; Section IV:
Labyrinths often have many doors, some secret and others obvious. Many are locked, and a thief will need to attempt to pick locks. However, characters can attempt to break a door down. In this case, the player rolls 1d6. A result of 2 or less means the door has been broken down. Strength adjustments apply, but no matter what the adjustment there must always be a chance of success or failure. Bonuses cannot take the muccess range above 5 or below 1 on 1d6. For example, if a mcharacter has a STR of 15 he receives a +1 to open doors. He would instead need to roll 3 or less on 1d6 to succeed. A character with STR 5 has -2 to open doors, but since the odds cannot go below 1, if the player rolls a 1 on 1d6, he succeeds in breaking down the door.

That's why I added the +2, because of what the book said.

The STR bonus applies, but it changes the TARGET number (A result of 2 or less means the door has been broken down), not the die roll.

In the example above, the character gets a +1 str bonus, but if you add it to the die roll, it puts you farther from a 1-2, not closer.

In that example the character has to roll a 3 OR LESS on 1d6, adding a +1 to the die would make it harder to roll less than a 3.

A character with an 18 STR gets a +3, so the door opens if they roll a 1,2,3,4 or 5

That didn't make it better at all, I cried from my mouth!   :(  No, wait, I just spat because I laughed.
Also, thank you for clarifying on the door thing!

Looks like there's two sets of remains to carry, now, though... hopefully the goblins are just renting the mule out for pony rides for some little goblin's birthday party, because that one'll be a back-breaker!
Wait, are we gonna have to crash a goblin birthday party?!
This gets me thinking, though.  If the mule's alright, we could rent it out for birthday party rides during extended periods of downtime...
