Trisvyre spoke up on the heels of Ranzarth.  "As do I.  But after you, Ranzarth," she said, still cautious of those who manned these rooms.  It might be wise to let another test things out first.

Re: II - The Steel Cave

The woman nods, then approaches Ranzarth and Trisvyre each in turn, administering the most like spray from the canister in her hand to each of the adventurer’s exposed wounds.

10:56, Today: Dungeon Master rolled 10 using 2d12.  Ranzarth - Healing Spray.

10:58, Today: Dungeon Master rolled 19 using 2d12.  Trisvyre - Healing Spray.

Ranzarth and Trisvyre are healed for the number of hit points rolled.

The most is cool to the touch, and its effects are immediate. Burns and bruises fade and open wounds rapidly close.

The woman steps back to the open door of the chamber she emerged from and halts, seemingly waiting for any additional instructions.

From the western passageway, Lumwik spies another flash of green light, this one taking longer to than the first to fade from view.

"Amazing" Cal whispers at the effect of the spray. He'd seen magically healing before, but this seemed... different somehow. "I wonder if we can take her with us, or return here. I wonder if we trust her." he muses.

Upon seeing Lumwik's eyes flit to the side, Cal asks, "What is it? Yet another threat?"

Trisvyre ran her fingertips over one of her wounds in wonder, now miraculously healed by the simple spray.  She looked to Azad with a curious expression in her almond-shaped eyes.

"Azad, please tell her thank you.  And then, can she tell us about this place?  What it is?  Where they are from?  Maybe the floorplan or where important things are?  How to avoid the sentinels?"

She realized she was rambling a bit so stopped herself there.

"Good idea, Trisvyre."

Azad looks to the female-shaped golem, [Tongues spell: "Thank you for your assistance...Miss. Do you happen to have a name we can call you? I am Azad Rola. Can you tell us about this place we are in?

The Surgeon told us of a plague that infected the citizens and the crew. Do you know about it? Are there still sick people here?

We were sent to find out if this is the source of many strange beasts that are terrorizing the people of the nearby lands. Would you happen to know if there are non-human creatures here?"

Ella is uninjured, but even if she were injured, she would likely be reluctant to allow the strange woman to spray away her wounds. Something doesn't seem quite right about all this.

She continues to stand guard, vigilant for either the return of the will'o wisp or a sudden betrayal by the aerosol-wielding woman.

Re: II - The Steel Cave

The woman administers treatment to Wandreck as she listens to Azad’s questions.

09:28, Today: Dungeon Master rolled 11 using 2d12.  Wandreck - Healing Spray.

She responds to the wizard in a calm tone that almost seems entirely vacant of emotion.

As the woman speaks with Azad, Lumwik and Ella, who have been watching the western corridor, see the pale green sphere that is the will-o-wisp come racing into the chamber where the adventurers have gathered, sparks showering off of its glowing form.

09:52, Today: Dungeon Master rolled 3 using 1d6.  Initiative - Party.

09:52, Today: Dungeon Master rolled 4 using 1d6.  Initiative - Wisp.

The wisp wins initiative.

A bolt of electricity emerges from the sphere. Inexplicably, it is not aimed at any of the adventurers, but rather at the steel wall beside it. The blast scorches the wall black, causing a rectangle of metal to drop away from the surrounding steel and drop to the floor with a loud clang.

OOC: It is the party’s turn to act. The wisp has an AC of -8.

Falling back to her tactic from the last time they encountered the will'o-wisp, Ella flicks her wrists and lights the glowing orb up with another faerie fire to hasten its rapid defeat.

OOC: Cast Faerie Fire

The aura is visible at a range of 80 ft if the observer stands in darkness, and at 40 ft if he or she stands near another light source. The light itself is harmless, but a creature limned with faerie fire is easier to hit; any attacks against it are made with a bonus of +2.

When the wisp entered the chamber and loosed its wayward lightning bolt Trisvyre immediately leapt to the aid of her companions.  She swung twice at the devious little floating orb, hoping to send it crashing to the ground for good.

OOC:

19:27, Today: Trisvyre rolled 12,24 using 1d20+4,1d20+4.  Attack wisp.  Note: Edited here to account for Faerie Fire +2 (forgotten at dice roller).  Hits AC-2, AC-14 respectively.

19:28, Today: Trisvyre rolled 12,7 using 1d8+4,1d8+4.  Damage to wisp.

Also, one hit was a natural 20.  Are we playing with any special rules around that?

Re: II - The Steel Cave

The twin strikes that Lumwik lands send the wisp wobbling, its green glow flickering when, a moment later, Azad’s bolts of arcane energy lance its floating form. Clearly weakened, small filaments of electricity extend from the sphere, as if the strange creature is seeking to marshal what strength it has, just as Trisvyre’s blade finds it, the blow causing the last of the wisp’s phosphorescence to abandon it. An instant later it crumbles, clumps of ash dropping to the metal floor.

OOC: Combat over.

Wandreck, meanwhile, approaches the section of wall that the wisp targeted with its electricity. Beneath the piece of steel that fell away, the thief can see the odd assortment of metal tubes and multi colored filaments that he has seen elsewhere, including within the bodies of the defeated cylinder constructs. Wandreck finds it difficult to approach the wall closely, as showers of sparks continue to burst from it randomly.

Even as the thief is surveying the damage, the blue tinged lighting above turns red and the calm, disembodied voice of a female speaks in a language that most of the company cannot readily understand.

"Nicely done," Ella remarks to Lumwik and Azad. She scans the area for any other flying orbs that might be lurking nearby and then cranes her head upward when the walls begin to talk.

"More fell sorcery!" she scowls. Then, as she is wont to do, she asks Azad to translate.

Once Azad has translated, and after they have thoroughly searched the rooms immediately to the east, and assuming the information he provides does not suggest a course of action counter to this proposal, she recommends continuing their exploration to the north.

Wandreck tries to discern the purpose of the pipes and filaments.  Could it have something to do with a balance of the elements?  Fire coursing through one, while water is transported through the other?

Re: II - The Steel Cave

Wandreck is able to observe filaments that are white, blue, red, green, yellow, and black in color. While some of the colors could be associated with certain elements, there seem to be more colored lines than cardinal elements, making the function of several of the filaments uncertain, if their colors truly represent elements at all.

OOC: In an effort to be helpful, in the event that the party elects to leave the area, here are their options:

  • The western corridor (where the wisp appeared)
  • The northern corridor (the party has not witnessed anything enter the current area from this direction)
  • The southern corridor (which would lead back to areas that have already been explored)
  • The pit (to access one of the lower levels)
  • One of the adjoining medical chambers (where the helpful female construct and the combative male construct came from)

Please note: As a reminder, the adventurers did find red square “keys” within the remains of some of the cylindrical constructs that they battled, which suggests that the constructs have the ability to open some locked doors.
