Re: The Crags (OOC Thread)

Wandreck: The original reason for coming to the metal cave was to prevent the release of more creatures that were devastating the nearby towns.

I believe the group fought a bulette when they arrived at the keep where they were originally hired.

Re: The Crags (OOC Thread)

Two bulettes, with soldiers getting knocked around like bowling pins. :)

But yes, you are correct Azad. The original intent behind the expedition was to try and discover what was behind the sudden rash of monsters terrorizing the Duchy and to put a stop to their incursions, if possible. Once the adventurers learned that several of the elven scouts had gone missing, finding them became a secondary, though extremely important, objective.

Re: The Crags (OOC Thread)

My god time flies when there's a pandemic! :-)

I have a cunning plan...so it is likely to fail spectacularly!

If the robots listen to Azad when he has the red key card, then maybe he can order them to close the doors (after the party steps out) and to NEVER open them until receiving a direct order to do so from "MacGregor, William J." which conveniently should be never.

The baron/duke/prince who sent the group here, can be told to bury the two doors under as much rubble as his sappers and mages can bring down.

Re: The Crags (OOC Thread)

Hopefully we will see how the robots respond before we have to jump into melee.

And we do need to know which one is tube 8 so we can try to get between it and the door out.

Re: The Crags (OOC Thread)

Read my expectation above! I fully expect we will end up fighting the the robots and the Devourer!

Here's hoping the robots go to fight and that we can order them to close the hatch and never open it again. It accomplishes the mission, in a way that no one else finished the module, in the history of Barrier Peaks!

Re: The Crags (OOC Thread)

I want to make certain that I am understanding correctly: It sounds as though the party is retreating back into the steel caves, through the door they entered the current chamber through. They are not attempting to evacuate though the large open doors that lead outside.

Do I have that right?

Re: The Crags (OOC Thread)

In reply to Dungeon Master (msg # 673):

I made that call against everything I want to do because, looking at the map, I thought we are cut off from the hatch by the monsters.

If there is any hope to make it to the outside doors, that is where we want to go!

I will edit my post ASAP!

Re: The Crags (OOC Thread)

To be completely fair, the confusion may very well have been the result of my lack of clarification.

None of the constructs will act to impede the party’s movement in any way. Currently, their focus is on executing the orders Azad has given them and on containing the creatures that are waking.

Re: The Crags (OOC Thread)

I don’t know if anyone here would be interested in this, but I thought I might mention it in the event that some of you might be.

I’m starting a new game utilizing the Labyrinth Lord rules. I’m going to take a stab at running Greg Gillespie’s Barrowmaze and see how far I and a group of stalwart adventurers can get. If you think you might want to join in, please drop by and have a look at the game.

Thank you!

Re: The Crags (OOC Thread)

Coincidentally, I was playing in a LL game that just folded this week!

It was a basic LL game, but if you have not filled up yet, I will drop in an RTJ tomorrow.

For the Advanced Rules, do you use both rulebooks, or are all the rules in the Advanced Book? I have barely looked at the Advanced.

Re: The Crags (OOC Thread)

I still have openings. I’d be glad to have you join in. :)

Yes, you would make use of both books. The Advanced Edition Companion essentially acts as an expansion, but most of the “core” rules are found in the Labyrinth Lord book.

Dungeon Master:

Thank you for running an enjoyable game. It is rare around these parts to see a game run to a satisfying conclusion and you are now 2/2 in my book, having previously played in the Silver Princess adventure.

Best of luck to you and your players in the new Barrowmaze game!

Take care all. I am sure I will see some of you in other games. :)

Re: The Crags (OOC Thread)

Thanks very much, Loughcrew.

As Ella said, getting the opportunity to get through an adventure from beginning to end on RPOL is a great feat!

Great job of running the game. I'm looking forward to the Barrowmaze game.

And to all the other players, it was a fun to run through Barrier Peaks with all of you.

Although I came aboard mid-stream, I was very happy to participate.  Thank you to the other players who welcomed me like I'd been here the whole time, and thanks to our DM for an excellent game!

For those of you not joining us in Barrowmaze, best wishes and I'll hope to see you on the boards in the future!

Re: The Crags (OOC Thread)

Just for everyone’s information, I intend to proceed with deleting this game in a week’s time. That should provide sufficient time for everyone to snag copies of their character sheets and any other information from the expedition that they would like to keep.

My thanks to each of you for your kind words. Having the opportunity to run this with such a great group was very rewarding.
