Re: The Crags (OOC Thread)

A couple questions. How wide of an area is this grassy area? And how high is the roof from roughly the center point of the grassy area?

Is there a grassy knoll (or gnoll)?  (Sorry.)

Re: The Crags (OOC Thread)

The grassy area is roughly seventy feet by eighty feet. Where the company is positioned, if they were to walk across the field in a straight line to the vine covered doorway, they would be moving through the exact center of the clearing, with forty feet of lawn on each side of them.

It is one hundred feet to the ceiling overhead.

Re: The Crags (OOC Thread)

And does it appear the whole expanse is this attacking grass, or only the area around Wandreck's attack?  How much farther would we have to burn to clear a way across?

Re: The Crags (OOC Thread)

Wandreck progressed about fifteen to twenty feet onto the lawn before the grass sought to entangle him. It is worth noting that Wandreck was not moving at a high rate of speed (i.e. running/sprinting) when he was attacked.

It does appear that the grass has grown throughout the entire area of the lawn. The burning oil has destroyed a section of the grass that is twenty feet by twenty feet, directly in front of the adventurers’ position. That leaves a stretch of fifty feet of lawn that would need to be crossed to reach the doorway.

All that said, you may want to have a look at the progress made by Ella and Lumwik.

Re: The Crags (OOC Thread)

Just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the outstanding job our DM does describing technological marvels in this game! I have to imagine this adventure does not have a lot of boxed text for you to pull from, so you're having to create these descriptions on the fly. But, they are really well done. Great job!

Re: The Crags (OOC Thread)

Thanks, Ella! I can’t fib. Sometimes I find myself having to stop and consider, ”Okay, how exactly do I put this?” It’s been a fun challenge. I just hope I’ve managed to describe things in a way that consistently makes sense. :)

AS I said beofre, this moducle does not seem conducive to PBP and yet you have made run as smoothly as any other game I have played!

Re: The Crags (OOC Thread)

I want to add my praise too. I know how these TSR era modules can be (I'd be willing to bet that you've already had to tweak a couple of things to have it make sense). You're doing a superb job of bringing it to life.

I concur with those above.

And want to apologize for my slow posting rate as of late. It's tax season as such work is kicking my arse. 3 more weeks.

I hope the workload eases up soon.

I am truly grateful for all of the kind feedback, but I feel as though I need to return the compliment. Each of you has done outstandingly well in portraying a citizen of a medieval world encountering technology that defies their understanding. Obviously, we all know that metal golems/cylinders = robots, and red beams of energy = lasers, but you all have done a fantastic job in remaining in character and responding to the things you’re confronted with in a manner that individuals from the World of Greyhawk realistically would. My kudos to each of you.

Wandreck: Sorry about the Light spell...it did not click with me that you saw something in the dark room.

I suppose that is kind of what would really happen, dwarf sees with infravision, human mage can't so he casts light spell!

Yes indeed.  Wandreck should have explained himself better.

No worries whatsoever! I just didn’t want to move things forward without giving you the chance to make a decision about the spell.

Re: The Crags (OOC Thread)

I think Azad’s in-character comments on shriekers summarizes the important information that the party would know quite well.

Gotta love the Ray Stevens references. :D

Azad Rola:
Looks like we have lost Sir Cal, and possibly Herodian.

Sir Cal’s player had messaged me a few months back, letting me know he was going to step away. He wasn’t certain if he might be able to return, so I’ve kept his place open, and have sought to use him as support in combat when the opportunity arises.

I unfortunately haven’t heard from Herodian’s player since he posted about having RL issues in April.
