R&R (OOC)

It's been a wee bit since the last time we did anything with this game; where were we? I don't recall having started actual play.

No. Things were still being worked out.

I think with the changes I’ve made the game will be more fun.

Any thoughts among the other PCs about what sort of operative everyone wants to play?

R&R (OOC)

Made some pretty significant changes to character creation. for now these are the rules we will start with. I do not expect to change anything until we have done enough playtesting to warrant any changes.

In reply to The Director (msg # 9):

Your reformatted cyborgs dont come with the standard construct rules then? No immunities, still use healing, etc?

R&R (OOC)

Correct. Could still end up with most of the Construct immunities by taking the right cybernetics.

Might be an interesting idea for a new Edge:

Full Conversion Borg
Requires:  Veteran, 10+ Implants/cyber ware

The character is now more man than machine becoming a full conversion Cyborg. The character is considered a construct and gains any Construct abilities he does not already possess. He may now only be healed via the repair skill.

It seems like the other player can make the good looking super fast cyborg they wanted. I could try my hand at the psi character.

Why not tag some downside on this and make it available at Novice?

The backstory of most full conversion borgs in fiction is "I got blowed up and woke up a robot" and this being a veteran edge makes that impossible.

Re: R&R (OOC)

Good question. I forgot to note that the game will use the No Power Points option. Actually more of a modified version. Your character simply knows the powers and can cast them as standard action. Modifiers that would increase or decrease the amount of power points add or subtract form the Psionics roll instead.

Does anyone have the rule book they can send me via Google? Time to learn the system which I know nothing about.

Re: R&R (OOC)

In reply to The Director (msg # 19):

Gotcha.

I was thinking that my charcater would have a form of light control. Not just making it eaiser or harder to see, but actually making light a solid object as well. The four starting powers would be light/darkness, darkvision, environment protection, and burst. Those are all novice rank. I might go with illusion intead of burst.

Re: R&R (OOC)

I’m still here. Just been a bit busy with work. If everyone has their characters sorted out please PM to me or post them in the Character Creation thread. If you need help just ask here, the creation thread or PM. I’d like to have the game ready to start after the Thanksgiving Holiday at the latest.

Re: R&R (OOC)

I hate to do this as it is the second time now but, I think I am going to hold off on trying this game. There is still a lot of stuff I need to tweak on my end to try and keep things balanced. I do plan on revisiting the idea/game eventually, I just do not know when.

Re: R&R (OOC)

Well then that's that.

A couple of notes;

1. Your original version of the Psychic Soldier was better. The pure pyro fit the theme better and switching them out for a generic spellcaster was a mistake.

2. You may find that a different system is more compatible with this sort of game. Savage Worlds is a wonderful system, especially for the kinds of short term games that RPOL is famous for, but it struggles with high powered characters.

Re: R&R (OOC)

Thanks for the feedback.

1: I actually agree with this. I changed it after some players from a VTT game suggested there was not enough variety among PC's.

2: Generally I would agree. However, it Savage RIFTS actually does work pretty well and it doesn't get more powerful than that. Most of my original frameworks were based off of the Juicer and Psyker Frameworks.
