Re: OOC
Hi, everyone, I hope you are getting fun with this campaign. As you know I DM in 12 campaigns and it took me just a few posts to realize that rolling 10 times initiative was not a good idea. I hope you understand I am in a trial and error stage as DM of PBP games. So after some thinking and considering the process of combat is time consuming for a DM (according to the witnessing of some players I talked to, DM attrition comes generally after the first combat). I have taken the decision to enforce the homebrew rule that I propose to you:

Your DEX ability score is the DC for the monster initiative to beat (only the monsters roll initiative, faster since they are under my control), if the monster beats your DEX score (by rolling same or higher) then he goes before you otherwise you go before him. Simple. If for some reason you get advantage to your roll, them you add your DEX modifier to your ability score).

For example: if your DEX score is 16 that is the DC for the monster to beat, if you have advantage for any reason then you add +3 (your modifier) to your ability score for a total of 19 (the new DC for the monster to beat).

As always happens, not everyone can be pleased with my decisions, but that is why RPGs need referees.

The topic of the night watch order remains.

Apologies for all the inconveniences.

I'm good with whatever you need to do to make the game work for you.  I might suggest you just roll Inish for us... no problem there... but whatever works. ;)

Re: OOC
Watches:

We have

4 fighter types: Jae-Sun, Kala, Milo, and Shinma.

3 spell casters: Coranthillion, Naeris, and Tarascon.

3 w/darkvision : Coranthillion, Naeris, and Shinma.

So if we put one caster, one darkseer, and at least one fighter on each watch we get:

One watch is Coranthillion and one or two of Jae-Sun, Kala, or Milo.

One watch is Naeris and one or two of Jae-Sun, Kala, or Milo.

One watch is Tarascon, Shinma, and possibly one of Jae-Sun, Kala, or Milo.

Does this make sense to everyone?

In reply to Milo (msg # 56):

Naeris just dropped the game, I will try to accommodate your suggestion the best I can and you give me your opinions.

We probably already lost Coranthillion too.

I have some XP in PBP games and player attrition (and even worse DM attrition) is the norm. I will successfully fold this campaign even if I end with my character and only one more player.

Yeah, honestly, I've had more than a few games fold out from under me.  I'm still here, FWIW!

Re: OOC
We lost Jae-Sun, the night watch has been reordered, Kala has the first watch.

Please Kala narrate the precautions you have taken for your watch and roll perception.

Re: OOC
Make a favor, please update the Bio 1 of your character with this information:

Passive Perception:
10 + Proficiency Bonus (if proficient) + any other bonus you get from a feature or feat.

Passive Initiative:
10 + DEX Modifier + any other bonus you get from a feature or feat.

Please use this format:

PP [11] PI [13]

As the monsters roll against your score as their DC if you have advantage they get disadvantage and viceversa.

Unlike regular rolls in which you beat the DC if you roll same number, in this system the PC has always the advantage and the monster needs to roll higher otherwise it is a failure.

Re: OOC
Hello all, will be your elf wizard.

Should have him completed by the end of the day.  Leaning toward a back rank Diviner at this point.

Looking at the party composition it looks like you have good front rank damage potential (fighter and paladin, and possibly the cleric), but could go Evoker if needed.

Thanks and look forward to gaming with you!

Shouldn't the monster have had disadvantage, since Shinma dodged?

Re: OOC
In reply to Shinma (Rik Deth) (msg # 73):

According to the initiative order you act on phase 3 so you can dodge in that phase and your dodge remains until your next turn.
The fact you were not surprised does not mean you acted before the monster that is why there is an initiative order to act in the combats.

With the firebolt and all not sure if he's at disadvantage so rolled damage anyway.*

*Eventually, failed his 'Use Die Roller' check.
