Episode 01: Destiny of Kings.
It has been a long night for many of you, last night you were celebrating the new year ever and now it is the first day of the year, each of you were celebrating in your own fashion and after some sleeping time you finally wake up, although you do not know what the time is exactly. As you try to awake totally, you see there is a letter on the floor near the door, it obviously was thrown by under the door. You open the door but it seems who left it departed long time ago. It is intriguing since those who are in the inn are wondering who could send a letter, who could know you are there.
Those who are in your homes are also wondering who could write, finally you open the letter and a message written in common says this:

Greetings noble adventurer, I have been researching your deeds and who you are and I surely known you have enough preparation and courage to accomplish a mission of utmost importance: Dunthrane and all Dunador is at the stake and we need desperately the help of something like you. If you are interesting in provide us with your services (which will be properly rewarded), I will meet you tonight, in the third hour of the night, in room 8 at the Three Feathers Inn, be punctual.

Episode 01: Destiny of Kings.
As he was, in fact, staying at the Three Feathers Inn, Shinma regarded the note in his hands with bleary eyes, but no sense of urgency.  It wasn't like he'd have to go far.  Still, the burly Half-Orc frowned.  Who could be behind this, and what would it entail?

Well, Kos provides, he thought.  Belching, he went back to his room to get ready.  He'd be at the meeting, but damned if he'd go hungry.

Milo slowly works his way through the letter.
Frowning; "Milo not noble."
Continuing on he starts to grin; "Hah, first challenge of the test. Milo ready."
He arrives at the Three Feathers inn half an hour early. (Mamah always said to be early.)

Episode 01: Destiny of Kings.
Kala awoke. It took her a moment to take in the room's ceiling, and remember she wasn't back in her gladiator cell, but a room in the Drunken Dragon. This wasn't helped by the dwarf battering her skull with a warhammer. At least, that's what the hangover felt like.

Clutching her head, she went downstairs and drew herself a pint. It had been quite a night, celebrating both the new year and her freedom. She returned to her room to nurse her hangover. The dwarf soon switched to tapping her skull with a stick. Much better.

Her plans for today? Shopping for something a bit less revealing than her arena costume. Not that she was particularly uncomfortable dressed like that, but she didn't always want the attention. That's if anyone was selling anything the day after new year.

Only then did she finally notice the letter on the floor.

A note from a fan?

With some difficulty, she read it. The mysterious writer had her at 'rewarded'.

* * *

Kala too arrived early, though in her case it was more running out of things to do than politeness. Her quest for clothes had secured a cloak but little else; as she'd feared, too many shopkeepers and traders were taking the day off to recover. She left her arena weapons back in her room, since an inn was no place to wander around with a trident, but kept her axes.

At least the dwarf had finally gone away.

Episode 01: Destiny of Kings.
Ayla lived a fairly decent life at the moment.

She had taken up residence in the Three Feathers Inn, and worked for her stay and food, performing for the crowds and people who attended, and helped with serving when there was dire need. As such she had grown quite fond and accustomed to the crowd in the Inn and those working there, with her warm and cheery disposition she almost always showed.

With her due, she had been given a modest room. The bigger ones were reserved for hard-paying visitors, and the lesser ones were for the poorer travellers, but she made do here. She had her things all in order from having stayed for nearing a year now, but never had she received a letter before..

Reading through the letter, she finds herself confused. Quite the peculior thing, indeed. Who would call upon her as such? Noble adventurer? She started wondering whether perhaps this letter was adressed to someone else in the Inn? Hm.

She dressed, and took the letter with her as she went down to dine her breakfast. Luckily she was near the meeting place, so she didn't need to travel far. But she would have to work during the day, and build up anticipation for the night. She wouldn't think of it, but the letter did not declare that she would be accompanied by others. Was she selected on her own merits, all alone? What a strange idea! Time would tell who this prankster was.

-- -- --

Ayla makes sure to inform her employer of an important meeting, so she works until it is time to move on. She makes sure there's some extra time, so she won't end up being late. That wouldn't do.

Episode 01: Destiny of Kings.
When you get to the room 8 at the specified time, once you knock the door a small hooded figure (you identify as a halfling) partially opens it, he looks at your face, ask some questions which only you can answer and after he is truly sure it is you, he will open the door totally. When you enter the room you see other people inside, you notice you are not the only person invited, some faces are familiar (perhaps you have seen them "somewhere" and some are not). Standing at the end of the room there is an aged man that same than the halfling tries to cover his face with a hood, once all the room is filled with the guests the man and the halfling will uncover their heads.
The aged man starts talking:

Greetings noble adventurers, first I want to thank you for heeding the call, The Kingdom of Dunador's future is at stake and Tarascon here, the cleric in charge of Fontenmere Abbey has been gathering information through several days to find the most suitable people to whom recruit for a mission of the utmost importance. I cannot trust anyone inside the royal court, that is why I have been forced to resort to you, people from whom those trying to take over the kingdom fraudulently will never suspect.

This was all a bit much for the simple barbarian.

"Who are you and how do you know me? And who's trying to take over the kingdom."

Kala wasn't dumb, but she did tend to think directly, and filter civilized behaviors through her own experience.

"Among my people, a leadership challenge is open. How can you even have a secret leadership challenge? Why would anyone believe the victor?"

Episode 01: Destiny of Kings.
In reply to Kala (msg # 7):

All your questions will be answer noble woman warrior:

My name is Hollend, chief advisor to King Halfred, the deceased King of Dunador and head of the Royal Council. Probably you already have known the terrible news that King Halfred died in an apparent accident which some have labeled as a "misadventure" but I am pretty sure his death was orchestrated by his brother Edrin who secretly has always wished the throne. King's son, Edmund, Prince of Dunador is the second in the line of succession and he should have been placed as the king but the problem is prince is not in Dunador now but he traveled to this province (Andevar) in a peregrination to the holy shrine, located in the Veronian Mountains. Prince Edmund is embarked into a quest to find the magical waters are of the shrine which are said to bestow wisdom and strength upon the true heir to the throne of Dunador.
Edrin waited for the right moment to come with his scheme and since prince Edmund departed in a travel that could last weeks or even months, Edrin reclaimed the throne for himself as there is no one else to reclaim it. After a tough negotiation with him and his retainers he accepted that Edmund will be the king but he will remain as regent of Dunador until the prince can be located and brought to Fontenmere Abbey the place where the coronation ceremony must be held. In exchange for holding the throne for the young prince, Edrin has forced Hollend and the royal
Council to accept him as next in line for the crown. In this dark and foreboding atmosphere, the great and near great of Dunador breathlessly await Edmund's return.
All, that is, except Edrin. As regent, he has moved quickly. King Halfred's guards have been removed from Dunthrane. In their place Edrin has installed his own knights and has officially taken command of the military. The Royal Council have no men-at-arms at their disposal at this rime. My main concern is Prince Edmund's safety. Wandering about in the wilds of northern Andevar, the young prince is a perfect target for assassination.

Leaning back in his chair, the armored, burly half-orc frowned and said, "Well, this all sounds like some clever political intrigue.  I'll help, but I'm no courtier, and although I've known assassins in my time, that's not my line of work either."

The halfling now takes the word:

Greetings, my name is Tarascon, one of the clerics of Fontenmere Abbey, it is of great sorrow to me to inform you that the bad news do not end. Some brigands entered the abbey some days ago and turned the place upside down but only took two things: the royal seal and scepter of Dunador, two indispensable items to hold the crowning ceremony. The "brigands" were undoubtedly sent by Edrin just to hamper prince Edwin's crowning ceremony, so our mission encampasses not only finding the prince but also retrieving these important items.

In reply to Shinma (Rik Deth) (msg # 12):

"Edmund is lost now to the eyes of man. Just before his father's death, he set off on a pilgrimage to the Shrine of Nevron in the Veronian Mountains of our northern province of Andevar. For generations, the heirs apparent of Dunador have
made this pilgrimage to the waters of Nevron. The sages say that drinking from
the sacred waters give a prince the wisdom and strength to rule this realm when the
rime comes. I know not of this, but such devotion does much to win the hearts of
the people.
We pray that Prince Edmund will return soon from this pilgrimage, but we have
reason to believe that he is not safe in Andevar. Aimar, the duke of this province,
is a self-seeking man who might turn a blind eye to the prince's welfare if it served his purpose. Worse still, this Aimar may be in alliance with Lord Edrin. This is my worst fear, for if that be so, then my prince is in mortal danger in Andevar. Edrin has sworn to protect the Prince but to believe his word is to be less than a fool. Assassins may already be abroad in Andevar, with or without Duke Aimar's blessing.
Currently we do not know where Edmund is. Such is the nature of his pilgrimage.
On foot with only a few men in pilgrim's garb. Edmund travels inconspicuously.
By now he may have reached the Shrine of Nevron. We don't even know if the prince has heard of his father's death. He must be found and brought safely back to Dunthrane Castle. If Prince Edmund dies, the realm will be crushed beneath the heel of this dark Lord Edrin.
On behalf of the Royal Council, and in the utmost secrecy, I am asking you to enter Andevar and find Prince Edmund before it is too late. Anything you can learn
of the Duke of Andevar's motives will also be of value to us, and we will pay well for such knowledge. But, it is the safety of the prince that is of greatest concern.
I suggest you begin your search at Montinelle, the capital of Andevar and the
home of Duke Aimar.
Keep your eyes open and discover what you can of Aimar's
disposition and the whereabouts of Prince Edmund. If this should prove profitless,  the road through Montinelle will carry you directly to Nevron, where you may find the hunting better.
But, whatever you do, remember this: At no time should you reveal the nature of
your quest. If you are taken and your mission discovered, you will certainly die
most horribly and the Royal Council's position will become extremely difficult. You will be wise to pass yourselves off as soldiers of fortune or, perhaps, as emissaries of a foreign country. Conceal your identities as you will.
Also. mark well one other thing. In this whole region of Andevar, you can only
trust two men: the patriarch of Fontenmere Abbey, William Menote, and Rolfe, the innkeeper here at the Three Feathers. If pressed, you may seek refuge there or here.
If you succeed in this quest to find and save the prince, you will have the undying
gratitude of this kingdom and the certain knowledge that you have saved it. You will also be rewarded handsomely for your efforts. I beg you to accept this mission and I pray that you succeed in it."

According to the advice of Hollend we should go to Montinelle, as far as I know Jae-Sun is native of that place, perhaps he could help us to get into the stronghold. Go to rest and prepare yourselves, it is a two-day journey and it is not a safe one. Tomorrow before the sunrise we are leaving this place. I will wait for you in the inn's lobby. See you tomorrow and may you rest.
