After School Special
“There are a lot of rumors and I have nothing substantial about Dan, but there are too many random things for it to be a coincidence,” Jack says, without actually listing off all of the things that have contributed to his suspicion. Save for one, which he only shares once the story about Estelle is offered, “And you believe Ron's story about that? If that’s true, then I can also add that Dan was threatening Ron the other day in the cafeteria. About ‘getting him’ something. It's on the list.”
The other explanations earn a brief nod. He isn’t going to push about any of it, but instead he takes the time to start looking over the house. Noting the van, and in seeing the van, he turns his head slightly to see if he can spot Kevin as well.
“First situational analysis. You’re at least two blocks too close, I could have done this from the highway,” Jack begins. Since that’s not inconsequential to being undetected by a meta like the Pale Image, he suspects. “Second, the windows don’t match the dimensions of the house, tells me that those are screens or at least portals to someplace else and the interior is different. That’s the woman who picked up the guys from the mall, though I don’t see those two. I told Kevin about them though, so he might have them,” he adds.
Seeing as how the little girl doesn’t really fit with some sort of super-crime lab, he takes the time to see if the girl is real or a hologram or a robot or something else entirely.
“The house is probably a lab, safehouse or stash house. But the top floor is shielded from me, visually,” he goes on and closing his eyes, he tilts his head forward as he rolls down the window, really focusing his hearing on the top floor, trying to hear through the white noise and other sound filters.
"I'm trying to see if I can hear anything," he explains quietly while he listens.
