Re: THE COUNCIL'S CHOSEN

It took a moment for Maerk to put things together in his mind. The sudden appearance of the strange creature and the burst of flames seemed to have surprised him greatly. But only for a moment. With little thought for himself or anyone, Maerk began lumbering around the downed benches in the direction of the fiery little bastage.

"You! Firebug! Come to Maerk! Make fire on this!" The tall fighter pointed at his posterior. Perhaps the potency of the taunt was lost in translation...

In reply to Smiles (msg # 57):

Tamar coughs and stumbles a bit through the smoke.

She quickly calculated her next move. She gathered more people and began to lead them to the exit.

As she did so she called out of anyone who could hear.

“That thing is too quick for close combat. We need to shoot it out of the air. Sadly, The Goddess has gifted me with one spell for such tasks and it uses fire. So, I believe I am most helpful saving folks at the moment.”

She realized her ideas were at best half baked. But, she desperately  wanted to be helpful, somehow.

“Sarenrae, shine your light on this dim follower. Help me to see clearly what needs to be done. “

She spoke in a whisper as she didn’t want to spook the very people she was trying to help.

Re: THE COUNCIL'S CHOSEN

Still wanting to keep the creature contained and to give the other heroes a chance to get the spectators out of the building, Arisa grits her teeth and heads straight toward the bat-winged little imp. She can feel the heat of the flames on her uncovered face and hands but her leather armor protects most of her body. A smirk crosses her lips when the creature stops chittering and a confused look crosses its face. Assuming someone else must have cast a spell at it, she takes the opportunity to cross the final distance.

”Maerk, keep the creature contained to the back of the room,” she yells as she advances, ”we need to give these people time to escape”.

With that, Arisa lunges the last few feet toward the creature and attempts to skewer it on the point of her rapier. Thrusting swiftly with the sword, she keeps her body between it and the rest of the crowd.

Re: THE COUNCIL'S CHOSEN

Arisa expected the flames to be hot but she didn’t anticipate how hard it would be to breathe so close to the fire. As she neared the flames the hot air and smoke made her cough and choke and her eyes began to water. Usually so clam and collected, her world began spinning out of control making her thrust less effective and making it harder for her to avoid the flames. Twisting her lithe form she just couldn’t do enough to avoid them and was completely taken by surprise when the little creature spit fire directly into her face.  She barely got her arm in front of her face before the fire licked and burned along her skin making her scream in pain.

In reply to Arisa Whisperwood (msg # 69):

Arisa takes 4 damage from the complex fire hazard.
Arisa takes 3 damage from the breath weapon, and she catches on fire!

She will take persistent damage at the end of each turn.
A DC 15 flat check is required for the flames to go out after she takes persistent damage.

The Assisted Recovery Activity (2 Actions) will reduce the flat check to 10. But the Assisting PC must explain what they are doing to help in order to get the Flat check reduction.

Tamar realized that her new friend was in trouble. She tried to reach the swift Elf but found the distance in these chaotic conditions.

Dashing as straight toward Arisa, Tamar stops are decides to send her healing power at range.

OOC: If the over turned benches make movement difficult I may not even be able to make it into range.

But as long as the squares are 5ft and Ive counted squares right. Tamar should be able to move 25 feet closer to Arisa which would put her in the range for a 2 action heal (30 feet).

Using my Healing Font
(1st usage with 3 left)

If I've counted wrongly, then Tamar will Stride, Stride, stride so she can heal Arisa next turn.

20:44, Today: Tamar Numida rolled 3 using 1d10 with rolls of 3.  Heal Arisa.

Re: THE COUNCIL'S CHOSEN

The blinding pain of the fire searing her flesh is replaced by the cooling rush of Divine magic as one of the heroes in attendance at the meeting comes to the young Elven woman’s aid. Stumbling and coughing from the smoke and flames, her armor slightly singed around the edges, she sees a pretty Human woman through a blur of her own tears. The woman is obviously a Cleric but Arisa can’t make out her holy symbol as she regains her balance and heads toward her.

”Thank you so much,” she croaks out as she coughs the searing smoke from her lungs, ”I wasn’t sure I was making it out of there. Let’s help as many of the others as we can and then get out of here, that fire may be beyond a bucket brigade at this point. Have you seen my large companion,” she asks, turning and looking are for Maerk.

Re: THE COUNCIL'S CHOSEN

After slicing down the flaming creature, the tall warrior raised his shield in an attempt to protect himself somewhat from the flames! He turned and strode toward the center of the hall, yelling to Arisa and a few others that seemed to be helping.

"Go from building, Maerk will defend backs!"

Wary of perhaps other fire-creatures, the warrior stood ready to attack anything that might threaten, besides the growing fires that is, for even though the tall human was a savage fighter, he still wasn't able to conquer the raging, burning foe that was fire.

At least not yet...
